Carowinds Discussion Thread
VF15 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I doubt we will be seeing any test runs now with how late it is. Tomorrow should be a much better day for testing weather-wise (no rain until evening and high of 77 degrees). Also, sorry if you guys already know about this, but I saw this pop up on Carowinds' website. -

Granted, but you now have tests in every class every day at school. I wish for all unnecessary coaster trims to be turned off. -

It's foggy and rainy at Carowinds right now, but hopefully we'll still be able to see a test run today. -

Snowy scene at the construction site, but they appear to be making some progress. They've put in more stairs on the slide tower. Going to be quite a walk up to the top . -

Granted, but you won't be able to visit any parks. I wish for Opening Day to come faster. -
Adventureland (Iowa) Discussion Thread

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but I read a rumor on Screamscape that 2015 could be the last year for Adventureland's Log Flume, and that a family coaster might be replacing it in 2016. I personally think they should get a new thrilling coaster since it has been a very long time since the last one, but I guess a family coaster is better than nothing. -

Granted, but the next school year will start in July. I wish for an RMC woodie in my backyard. -

Granted, but you burn the school down and get arrested for arson. I wish for a snow day tomorrow. -
What rides have you ridden in their debut season?
VF15 replied to Olsor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So far, Goliath at Six Flags Great America is the only coaster I've ridden in its opening season. I will ride Rougarou later this year, but I'm still not sure whether or not I'd consider it a new coaster. -

^ Yes, the rumors I've heard are saying that the first test run will be sometime tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing it! -
TPR Facebook Questions
VF15 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Do you have your videos set to auto-play on your: a. desktop computer and/or b. mobile device? - The videos auto-play on my phone, but not on my computer. 2. Do you regularly "share" content from Facebook "page" (like the TPR page) to your own personal Facebook page? And have you shared something from the TPR page? - I haven't shared anything from the Facebook page because I prefer to keep my coaster/park enthusiasm a secret. 3. What kind of content are you most likely to share? (Videos, Photos, News Stories, etc?) - If I decide to share anything in the future, it would probably be an interesting story like a ride announcement. 4. How long on average do you watch a video posted to Facebook for? Do you watch the entire video? First 30 seconds? Until you get bored? - If it's a POV or off-ride footage, I'll usually watch the whole thing. If it's any other video, I'll at least watch some of it. 5. How important are "video thumbnails" to you? (the image you see with the > Play icon before you click to watch a video) - Not that important to me, but some of them make the videos a lot more appealing. 6. What do you like/dislike about Facebook? What features do you use the most and which ones annoy you? - All of the advertisements that pop up on my home page get annoying. I also hate getting tons of game requests from my friends because that's not why I use Facebook. 7. Is there anything that TPR does or doesn't do on Facebook that you think we should be doing more/less of? - I personally really like TPR's Facebook page as it is, and I wouldn't change a thing. -

I don't see them completely removing that games midway behind The Wave, but if RipTide ends up leaving in the near future (with Dorney removing their Top Spin, it's definitely possible), they could probably relocate Mad Mouse to that spot. Even though it would get more traffic there, it's already a popular ride where it is now (partially due to its low capacity). I'm betting that the Panic Falls Slides will be removed for whatever is next, but they'll eventually have to find some way to expand beyond their current borders. Relocating Mad Mouse and removing the adjacent games is probably the best way to do that. Someone suggested that Excalibur should be removed for the water park, but personally I'd rather see that land used for a new roller coaster. -
...a full-blown resort called The Darien Lake Resort, which would include tripling the size of the park in both land and attractions, building multiple on-site hotels, and total refurbishment of everything already in the park, but the plans for the resort fell through at the last minute because...

^ That's what I was thinking as well. 2016 could possibly be a year of general improvements to prepare for something bigger in 2017, but since I'd still like them get something for their 40th anniversary, maybe 2016 could bring back a few rides that were in the park when it opened and redo a few areas of the park to make them look more nostalgic (this would be similar to how Kings Dominion celebrated their 40th). -
I think that theming can certainly be a good addition to any kind of ride, but it isn't necessary for me to enjoy the experience. On dark rides, theming is of high importance, but on most other ride types, it's a nice touch, but not a necessity. Just a matter of personal preference, but I'd rather an amazing parking lot coaster than ride something that's heavily themed but has a "meh" ride experience.

garyman6 told us from his conversations with David Frazier that Valleyfair will get another waterpark expansion in the near future, but not in 2016. I'd expect it to happen no earlier than 2018. I'm fine with waiting until 2017 for a coaster because there are a few more general improvememts that the park needs before a new coaster. There was a big argument in this thread back in October over whether or not VF needs general improvements before a coaster, and frankly, I have to agree with those that said we need general improvements. -

Coney Island Cyclone or a clone? (I'm probably wrong.) -

^ I don't believe Cedar Fair has directly purchased any coasters from Premier Rides (correct me if I'm wrong), but if they ever did partner with Premier, I could see them doing something similar to Full Throttle, minus the world's tallest loop. Valleyfair just doesn't seem like the park where Cedar Fair would choose to put in a record breaker. -
I haven't ridden Grizzly, but considering that most people think it's rough and/or boring, it would make sense for it to be the coaster to go if they need the room for a new one. I'm not so sure that it should be RMC'd because I don't think there's very much they could do with the layout it has. Then again, that's what I said about Colossus, and they proved me wrong.
