  1. The first large group of photos are old, back from when they were building DCA. The second group showing a parking structure is what is relevant here. Below is a list of highlights. -The new Eastern Gateway complex. -The new Eastern parking garage. -New "Fly Ramp" Exit from the garage. New, reconfigured street intersection to allow for "Fly Ramp". -New security entrance, replacing the one currently used for guests entering from Harbor Blvd. -New "Transit Hub" replacing the one currently on Harbor Blvd. -The long walk way that will connect the new parking and transit to the parks. (Taking over the land from the Carousel Inn.) -The new pedestrian bridge over Harbor Blvd for that walk way. -New "Down Ramp" for that walk way. It uses land from the old transit hub that is being removed. (nothing was announced for the extra land in that area) In the center of the new parking and transit area is a big white building. This is not part of Eastern Gateway Project. They are building around it. There are other interesting things that can be guessed or are obvious from the images, but if it wasn't outlined in the images, its not in this list.
  2. So, the Anaheim City Council had a meeting with Disney, and luckily, someone with a camera was there to take all sorts of great photos. There are some really interesting things in these pics, and they answer basically every single question I had about this whole project. Take a look!
  3. The Cars Land soft openings were extremly limited. They wanted the grand opening to mean something and mostly the previews were for cast members plus their friends and family. Few members of the general public were allowed in early. The entire park was closed the day before the grand opening so it could be showed off to the press in private and to make sure everything was perfect for the opening. If Star Wars land has an opening similar to Cars Land it would be a mistake to attempt a trip before the official opening. Cars land had limited space at the main entrance of the land, where as SWL will have the long walk way from Thunder. I don't think they would close Disneyland all day for the opening, because its so out of the way. But I will bet the park will close very early, like 4pm for a special event.
  4. There is another Star Wars Land Update! Now that Thanksgiving has passed, it seems there's a flurry of work going on! Every part of the site has work being done to it. Check out Mnt's Blog!
  5. I haven't played since the start of the Halloween event.
  6. They are really haulin a$$. And it is nice to see that work on the actual land has started to pick up a lot too.
  7. Here is the Star Wars land update. Its the other half of yesterdays update. Mint
  8. This is Towers current state. Mint There will be a good Star Wars Land update tomorrow.
  9. ^The Old Road is great! Sometimes its faster, not always. But its always a lot of fun to drive!
  10. I would hope not! I could see them coming up with a unique way of anchoring the ride. A new cement pad next to the current one.
  11. Something I find interesting, it that I don't think Knott's really had many choices of what rides they could actually put here. Look at how the ride is anchored, it's not on the cement pad at all, its next to it. Remember, the Windseeker Pad is super thick, steel reinforced concrete. To try and dig into that, to put a center mounted ride would have been a massive undertaking for the park. So, it seems to me that they would only have looked at rides that don't use a center mount. Just a random observation.
  12. I was fortunate to see this show in Tokyo Disneyland when it opened, and its a really awesome projection show. I am excited that Magic Kingdom will get it now too!
  13. Google Maps is not the most reliable source of info... Its like Wikipedia. The Knotts Website shows the ride and does not show anything under " Rides Closed".
  14. LOL! Actually, that's not a bad thought. Considering the Tower and the edge of cars land, AND the Power Lines, there's going to be a of of weird/tall barriers. If they just made the whole area indoors, that would solve all the sight line issues and the land would be fully impressive. Just like the Little Mermaid Land in Tokyo Disney SEA.
  15. I have no info about marvel land; however, the available land over there is not as big as that image suggests. That very large road is used for the resort to move traffic around. And will likely be in use until the new Parking Structure is build. As well, that road is also the Right of Way for the power lines, and Disney may not be able to actually build on that land. Even if they buried the lines, they wont own the land. As well, the Red Car Trolley Barn is directly to the left of TOT, so that land is not usable either. Finally, the whole area to the right of the tower is a power sub station, and again, will likely not be moving.
  16. Your'e assuming that they HAD to use the ride. They could have easily put a portal for a Marvel Land next to the ride and it wouldn't have changed a thing (except the land would have one less marvel themed ride).
  17. ^LOL, you're kidding yourself if you think this model will make people rest easy.
  18. The Disney Parks Blog has an update on the Tower of Terror change over! Mon, October 3, 2016 Collector’s Fortress Transformation Underway Now as Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Prepares for Summer 2017 Opening at Disney California Adventure Park Erin Glover by Erin Glover, Editorial Content Director, Disneyland Resort A huge transformation is underway now at Disney California Adventure park, as The Collector’s Fortress takes shape at the site of what is now the Hollywood Tower Hotel. It will be home to a new adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, and today we have a detailed look at what the fortress will look like when the attraction opens summer 2017. The model pictured here was created by Walt Disney Imagineering to guide the transformation currently taking place on the exterior of the attraction. Every shade and detail you see here will be replicated in full size, as designers, builders and artists work to bring The Collector’s realm to life here at the Disneyland Resort. This “warehouse, fortress-like power plant” (as described here by Joe Rohde, Creative Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering) is designed to be intimidating and imposing, but also shimmering and regal. It will be the ideal location for The Collector to secure and show off his most prized acquisitions, the Guardians of the Galaxy. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Featuring characters from the blockbuster films, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! is an epic new adventure combining the familiar, breathtaking free-fall sensation with all-new visual and audio effects, including music inspired by the popular “Guardians of the Galaxy” film soundtrack. Guests will experience a variety of randomized ride experiences, so you never know which adventure you will get! Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! opens at Disney California Adventure park summer 2017. In the meantime, keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog as we reveal more about the story of this new attraction, re-introduce you to the characters from the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films and take you behind the scenes as this comically high-energy, rocking new adventure comes to life.
  19. Because it is cheaper that way, and easier to pay for.
  20. I am surprised there aren't more people thinking this "could" be a good thing in the end. I think the new version will be amazingly better then the original. My only thought is that the ride is so big and tall, it's seen from all over the park. But, that's not really a problem.
  21. Disney used to consistently put out quality attractions, but in recent years they have been very lackluster. The imagineers used to create iconic attractions like Splash Mountain, The Great Movie Ride, and Dinosaur. All creative, original, and entertaining. But look at recent additions like Frozen Ever After, Test Track 2, and Soarin Over The World. All cheap overlays instead of new original attractions. They even took out the original Captain Eo and replaced it with Pixar short films at Epcot. Disney is churning out uninspired, unimaginative, and cheap attractions to us just like Six Flags. The magic is dead, people! Well since this is the Disneyland thread, I will only point out that they are building a Star Wars Land and are not even 10 years removed from Carsland at DCA. Not every attraction can be an E-ticket, nor can you always just expand into new space. Taking perfectly fine ride systems and updating the show material is just smart business sense. Absolutely right. As well, this version of the ride was nowhere near as good as the original. Hell, it is not even as good as the clone in Tokyo! The new theme to this attraction will bring it more in line with the other, higher caliber versions of this ride.
