  1. We got one more post about Galaxy's Edge! Disney Parks Blog Sat, December 16, 2017 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas: Update from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Scott Trowbridge by Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Creative Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering To wrap up the 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas news, I’m pleased to share a few of the details we revealed at tonight’s Star Wars: Galactic Nights panel. I was honored to be a part of this inside look at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge along with my fellow Imagineers Robin Reardon and Chris Beatty, and Doug Chiang from Lucasfilm, and now I’m excited to share the news with all of you! We talked a lot about authenticity – how we are building a real place in the Star Wars universe and how we are working hard to get the details right. One of my favorite examples is the Millennium Falcon. We’ve all seen her on screen, but until you climb through that hatch, walk through her hallways, sit inside the cockpit, power her up and actually FLY her yourself, it’s not quite the same. Here is a photo of the inside of the ship as we are getting her ready and I can’t wait for you to see her yourself! Additionally, Doug highlighted some other examples of the team’s progress, including building a fleet of full-size X-wing starfighters. One tap on the metal side of these ships tells you that they are real, and ready for action! We also discussed the depth of storytelling you can find in this remote outpost. Chris shared some of his experiences researching the exotic markets of Istanbul and Marrakech. They were a great source of inspiration for the marketplace in our village where we can explore a rich collection of shops and merchant stalls. Chris shared a great example of one overseen by a Toydarian, one of the creatures we first encountered on Tatooine in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.” So what does he sell? Toys, of course! Here is a piece of concept art for what that toy stall will look like. And inside, you’ll be able to discover all kinds of fun and cool toys straight out of the Star Wars galaxy. Exclusive to this outpost, all these offerings look hand-crafted by local artisans. We looked at some of them recently and they’re going to be really fun, unique, and completely in-story. So again, thanks to everyone who came out to see us at Star Wars: Galactic Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And thanks for checking in here on the blog. I look forward to sharing more with you soon.
  2. As part of the 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas, the Parks Blog has pasted about the changes coming to Paradise Pier...AGAIN! Disney Parks Blog Fri, December 15, 2017 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas: The Incredibles Join the High-Speed Action When Incredicoaster Opens this Summer at Disney California Adventure Park Erin Glover by Erin Glover, Editorial Content Director, Disneyland Resort This summer will bring a transformed land to Disney California Adventure park with Pixar Pier, featuring the Incredicoaster – a new experience featuring characters from “The Incredibles.” A super combination of character figures, lighting and special effects will bring the action to life as the Parr family races alongside you in an attempt to catch baby Jack-Jack! In the video below, the Imagineers creating this experience tell you more about the Incredicoaster story and how they approach storytelling on a high-speed attraction. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Experience the Incredicoaster this summer at Disney California Adventure park! This does make me excited for the new ride. It's going to be more then just the station, the tubes will now apparently be show scenes. Also, there is quote a bit of unreleased art in the background of the video if you look for it.
  3. Here's what has me curious: There is only ONE Millennium Falcon in the Star Wars Galaxy, and you're there to pilot it. And we can guess that Disney is likely designing this to fool you into believing there is only one loading area, because there is only one Falcon. However, we know there are 4 turn tables. But, we don't truly know how the ride will operate or how those tables work. So, I am excited to see how the ride actually operates and is able to achieve this. There is really only 3 options: 1 - There are 4 separate tables, and 4 separate load/unload areas. 2 - There are 2 separate table groups, and they are connected. So one vehicle goes around 2 tables. This would only have 2 load/unload areas. 3 - There is 1, giant, 4 table ride with one load/unload area. I can't wait to find out the answers to these types of questions, because its fun to think about the engineering of this stuff!
  4. If they actually own any part, I'd bet they dump it and re-work a licensing-only deal.
  5. As part of the 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas, the Parks Blog has pasted about the changes coming to Paradise Pier. Disney Parks Blog Thu, December 14, 2017 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas: Working Model of Pixar Pier Shows Newly Themed Areas Coming Summer 2018 to Disney California Adventure Park Erin Glover by Erin Glover, Editorial Content Director, Disneyland Resort Coming summer 2018, Pixar Pier will transform the southern shore of Paradise Bay at Disney California Adventure park with whimsical neighborhoods filled with characters from some of your favorite Pixar stories. Today, we are bringing you a first look at this transformation through photos of a working model now in use at Walt Disney Imagineering. Featuring newly themed attractions, foods and merchandise, this area will introduce new neighborhoods representing beloved Pixar stories. The neighborhood inspired by “The Incredibles” will be anchored by the Incredicoaster, which will feature a new mid-century-modern-style loading area inspired by the Parr family home as seen in the upcoming “Incredibles 2.” Another of the neighborhoods will be a celebration of many of your favorite Pixar stories. In this neighborhood, each of the 24 gondolas on what is now Mickey’s Fun Wheel will feature different pairs of Pixar pals, and at the Games of the Boardwalk, all of the midway games will be inspired by characters from films such as “a bug’s life,” “WALL·E” and the Pixar short “La Luna.” Pixar Pier will open summer 2018, during the first-ever Pixar Fest celebration, which begins April 13. The celebration will include the new “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” fireworks spectacular as well as the return of Pixar Play Parade and “Paint the Night” parade, and much more throughout the entire Disneyland Resort. Large photo So, there hasn't been any specifics about whats really coming to the new Pier, but that model does show some changes to the store in front of the Fun wheel. Currently, the store in that space is Sideshow Shirts. The Games of the Boardwalk are directly to the left and the facades are unchanged based on the model. So, it seems the facade will change quite a bit to be more grand. Maybe the store is going away, and something new will go there! Here is a fun 360 degree view of the area as it currently looks, Clicky
  6. + I really do not think the parking lot will be used for this project. They are already taking a sizable chunk to expand Fantasyland, and they want to build that 3 story parking structure. So, minus those two areas (of unknown size), there can't be much room left. Also, consider that a third park needs ADDITIONAl parking on top of the new parking requirements for the current park expansion. Taking all this into account, it seems they are looking elsewhere to build the third park. There just isn't room in the parking lot for a third park, parking structure, and Disneyland Expansion. Add to all of that, Lost river Delta and Arabian Coast could also expand into the parking lot there; it's the only direction for the park to do a major expansion without tearing something out. Unless this truly is all about expanding the two current parks and there is not third park coming.
  7. I had no clue they were this far along with this attraction! That's great to see!!
  8. The parks Blog posted again! Parks Blog Tue, December 5, 2017 12 Days of Disney Parks Christmas: Memorable New Story Elements Add to the Fun at the Pixar Play Parade During Pixar Fest Celebration Erin Glover by Erin Glover, Editorial Content Director, Disneyland Resort Pixar Play Parade returns April 13 to the Disneyland Resort – this time, at Disneyland park! Part of the limited-time Pixar Fest celebration, this delightful parade will bring even more of your favorite Pixar stories to life with the addition of three new story elements. The parade will begin as all Pixar films have, with an appearance by the iconic and adorable Pixar Lamp. Rolling ahead of the famous lamp will be the familiar yellow Pixar Ball, making a cameo in Pixar Play Parade, as it has in many Pixar films. Also joining the parade are characters from the beloved film, “Up.” Wilderness Explorer Russell will appear astride the colorful flightless bird, Kevin, with Carl Fredricksen and Dug following behind amid green foliage and snipe chicks, with Carl’s tethered house floating above. Another popular Pixar story coming to Pixar Play Parade is “Inside Out.” Perched atop colorful memory orbs, Joy and Sadness take flight aboard Bing Bong’s rocket wagon, with Bing Bong himself cheering them on! Don’t miss these new story elements and the return of Pixar Play Parade, beginning April 13 at Disneyland park. And check out the rest of the fun to come during Pixar Fest here!

  10. Ok, so this might actually just be the art being wrong. But, there is definately a 5th wheel on the other side of the shed that's in the center. So, its either an even larger, 5 wheel version. Or, there are two separate sides like in Mater's and the art just doesn't accurately depict the final design.
  11. Wait they aren’t already? Magic Band is honestly the most awesome and creepy theme park technology out there now. Oh, they are already. But, you choose to wear the band. Even though you will have the choice (i'm sure) to allow the face scanning, people can argue that it's doing it anyways. But, that's not a topic we need to discuss here.
  12. Um, facial recognition scanners for APs? HAHA, thats great! I wonder (assume) it will speed up people entering the park? I hope something like this comes to the US parks one day, Though, I am sure that people will freak out that Disney is doing something nefarious with the data.
  13. I am really hoping it is done by 2025. Has Disney (or anyone) really ever made an announcement 8 years before starting a project this big? Especially when it could take an additional 2-3 years to complete it? It just seems SO FAR OUT if this is supposed to be a start date, rather then a completion date.
  14. Nothing on the page (translated by Google) made any type of mention to its location. But, there are some places it could go without having to make new land. Personally, I could see the park going on the peninsula to the South East of the current resort. If the OLC were able to acquire all the land remaining South East of Ikspiari that would make for a great expansion of a third park, parking, and an Ikspiari expansion! Hopefully there is a big announcement in May!
  15. This theoretically, will stop the crowds from getting worse.
  16. ^That's not how marketing works... Its a simple message that explains how tall the ride is.
  17. You'd be surprised how many comments you hear from people wanting Soap Box Racers back at Knott's alone. Yes, I know of those comments. But that is a very small group, and its for one park. Don't get me wrong, I think it's fun to see it come back into the industry. We'll just have to wait and see who, if any one, buys the ride.
  18. Its cool they are bringing the Steeple Chase style back, but it makes me wonder - Did anyone ask for this? I do enjoy the type of ride, but I also wonder if anyone will buy it. Or, maybe there something special about this version that the older style doesn't have? (Other then a Dinosaur theme, haha)
  19. Going off the art, there is really only posters and murals that are added to the queue. There's really not much room there to add anything substantial. And, they aren't enclosing anything. The only place, based on the art, for them to add anything would be inside the tubes themselves In the form of screens. As well, the final break/turn/and pre-station break could all be enclosed if they wanted to add anything. This area is not visible in the art really, but the final brake does seem to have an additional tube added, that's why I'm even bringing it up. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/pier-2.jpg http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/files/pier1.jpg
  20. I think youve been looking at their projects through Rose Colored glasses. The DLR has done TONS of things that are cheap, and things that are not. Some more successful then others. But, like you said, it's only art so far, and its likely to change. But Joey is right, this is to have something to market for when Star Wars Land opens. Its just that is doesn't solve any problem. Its a solution, in search of a problem.
  21. ^Well, no one believes that a bugs land will be around much longer. Plus, the un-announced Pixar Ride in the west end of the coaster looks like a re-themed Flyk's Flyers.
  22. The carousel is still there. Its located in the Toy Story Neighborhood, and has Jessie out front, and it looks like shes riding a stick horse. So, we could guess its going to be Toy Story Themed, and remain a carousel. OMG, I didn't even notice that! It does look like that...
  23. Grizzly River Run is one of the more fun rapids rides out there, so I would hop it never goes away. But, I think that Redwood Creek Challenge Trail would go away for a new ride before anything happens to Grizzly River Run.
  24. It kind of looks like Flik's Flyers to me. I hope it's a mini drop tower though. It 100% looks like Flick's Flyers. Because its the only ride in Bugs Land that can really be saved. Also... I really do not like this whole Pixar Pier thing. They aren't actually improving the area, they are just repainting and adding little things here and there. Screamin' isn't even getting an enclosed station! They are just changing out the tops of the shade structures in the queue, painting, and adding a new roof line. I normally can find the 'good' in any project that they do, but this seems like such a wasted opportunity to actually make this area even better. Its a lateral move that only makes that area more disjointed from the remaining rides and attractions in Paradise Park. Honestly, the only real thing I do like about this is the concept for the new Cover bar and lounge...
