  1. I hear they're going to use it to replace Stinger when they ship that ride off to MiA. A. How sad would it be that MiA would get a cast-off from Dorney that was a cast-off from CGA? B. Stinger=Vekoma Invertigo. Possessed=Intamin Impulse. Wicked Twister=Intamin Impulse.
  2. Enthusiasts are complaining because they see it as false advertising--which is illegal in some markets. Then again, there are some that don't consider Intamin Impulses (V2, Wicked Twister) as coasters because they aren't complete circuit. I needed stitches from how hard my jaw hit the ground in pure amazement at their stupidity.
  3. I'd be for relocating Wicked Twister to CGA if and only if they angle the front spike like SFDK's. WT's double spiral combined with V2's angled front spike would be the ideal Intamin Impulse in my opinion.
  4. The reason I asked about the brakes is because a couple years ago, they were in the Branson area in mid-July and slid off the road multiple times. They intended to acquire new brakes after their trip. That vehicle has since been scrapped. But they're worried about snow/ice conditions after experience on dry summer roads--understandably so.
  5. Asking for a friend: how are the road conditions in the Branson area in early March? Especially in the mountains/hills. They're potentially looking at going to SDC's opening weekend but don't trust the brakes on their car. Should they get the brakes looked at prior to their trip?
  6. Looking at possibly booking a trip to the park over 4th of July weekend (I know, I know, but it's my birthday weekend and my hometown MLB team is in town that weekend) so just curious as to how miserable the lines/crowds would be? Most likely would stay in one of the onsite cabins. What other hotels in the area should I consider for 5? (would consider getting two rooms)
  7. ^Agreed. I hope it will be a custom launch coaster. Give the relocation to MiA. It'd be too loud at Dorney, otherwise I'd have suggested that.
  8. "us" as in the GP or the associates? Because I know that an updated employee access road is one of the things included in those famous Army Corps plans, but on the flip side, the guest lot is in need of major work (some has started in the northwest corner of the main lot during the previous park season) and a new park entrance has been speculated for a while--mostly in conjunction with a shiny new coaster.
  9. But I'm sure when he said that he was referring to the RMC Mean Streak that will be announced in August for 2018 There's Really More Coming!
  10. Does Knotts allow snapping on their flyers? I know that most CF parks/those that own Larson models don't allow it due to maintenance issues.
  11. Tampico Tumbler was scrapped/something along those lines. Though I cannot speak for the maintenance issues of the Mall of America specimen.
  12. Hey Knotts fans, you jealous? They see me tumbling, they be hating
  13. A new VR attraction at the Mall of America sounds familiar... T-10 days until it's closed due to whiners who haven't experienced the attraction. Official attraction site: http://smaaashusa.com/#/hauntedhospital/585d43bd43d6132e58a339e0
  14. Agree with all of this. I rode the CP WindSeeker and found the views and light package incredible, but it felt safeĀ® than a Starflyer's chains. Full confession: Charlie Brown's Wind Up (Chance yo-yo) is one of the two rides in the park that genuinely unnerve me (the other being ripcord). And it's partially due to the chains that suspend the riders (the other part is because it's the only ride I feel like I have to hold onto or I'll fall out of the seat--but how much of that can I blame on the vertical motions of the ride). But overall, it's a great investment for the park and will be seen for quite the distance.
  15. My .02 regarding the Army Corps plans: -Valleyfair sits on semi-protected land--which attracts environmental nuts -The submitted plans for all we know is a test of the waters seeing how much this will cost (most likely somewhere between "ouch" and "boing") -Politics involved with the approval of the plans (even more money) -All this money adds up quickly just to get the plans submitted and approved--before dirt starts moving. -Minor terraforming so that the park can build on the land in question. ($$$$) -The plans call for the removal of a major attraction, new entrance (and staff), parking lot, and employee access road BEFORE building new attractions. -All of this requires a lot of time as well--possibly several seasons worth of dirt-pushing before Excalibur can even come down. And that infrastructure work could most likely be done only in the offseason before/after winter. While yes, there would be amazing benefits to the plans -more buildable land -less frequent flooding -guests don't complain about walking from the main entrance just to get to soak city -Excalibur's demise (MWA-HA-HA-HA-HA ) But unless you are willing to donate your winning lottery ticket to the park, I would not recommend holding your breath.
  16. Since the Hong Kong castle's coming down soon to be replaced by a bigger one (It'll be weird seeing a Disney park without a castle ), is there any current sign of deconstruction? Or is that not for a while yet? Says the one who took a video instead. But yes, it was amazing and more parks should try to do something similar. Do any other Disney parks do this?
  17. Tony probably has the biggest sh!t-eating grin reading this thread watching us all descend into the offseason madness.
  18. With the recent announcement of Space World's closure next year, is there any way you can squeeze it into the itinerary at this point?
  19. Sad news. I wonder if that skating rink was the coffin's last nail. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens to the attractions. Especially Zaturn and the S&S trains on Titan.
  20. The money spent to enclose Vortex would be better spent on a brand new coaster while Vortex gets shipped to MiA and is greeted with brand new floorless trains and a can or two of paint. But should Vortex get the floorless treatment while it's still at Carowinds (groan), presumably for the 2018 season, and with KD's Hurler getting RMC'd in 2018, I'm just wondering if the Carowinds Hurler will get a similar treatment for 2019 and would the two be near-identical? And I'm still holding out for that GCI wooden coaster to take the place of Dinos Alive. What's the latest on the fate of Yo-Yo?
  21. All the more reason that they have to buy lockers--which makes more money for Cedar Fair/the park. Give a guest a plastic bottle, they're gonna need a locker.
  22. As a ride op at Valleyfair, getting people to throw away the disposable cups was incredibly annoying as they couldn't be taken past the turnstiles. And as someone who has cleaned up many a garbage bag full of liquid, this just seems like a big mess, especially on busy days at the turnstiles--because someone has to go get those bags. Again, there's the environmental factor and I have no idea what the recycling policies are at Kings Island so they must know what they're doing. But the cups do seem like a good idea on paper instead of the bottles for the passholders. I wonder if it would be the same for the single day bottles or not. In any case, I'm interested in hearing what the KI staff have to say on this topic.
  23. Because compared to the other two Dive Coasters in the US, Valravn kinda sucks. My main complaint about Valravn are the restraints. The restraints kill any chance for you to get the really awesome airtime that dive coasters are known for. The only redeeming factor for Valravn is the views from the top of the ride. Other than that it is a pretty forgettable, and meh coaster. I'll add the Carowinds Fury v Intimidator aspect here. The main vertical drop is nothing unique--especially to CP. Home to steep drops on Dragster, MF, and Maverick (beyond vertical). People whined about how Fury seemed too similar to Intimidator and now Fury just completely blows Intimidator away. Many recommend riding Intimidator before Fury because of this reason. Intimidator still gets riders, but not as many as it used to. There's no denying the GP appears to love this ride and it is a people-eater. It will be interesting to see its ridership numbers and queue wait times in future years, especially after RMC Streak opens.
