Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

There's been a seemingly above average number of weekdays, too. Rain, rain; go away. Little Johnny wants to play. -
I'm in the early stages of looking at potential trips next year and at the moment, this is the park I'm looking at. I'd fly into DFW, transit to the hotel, drop bags off, head into Six Flags or a baseball game--cause if it's that close... Spend a couple days at Six Flags, fly home. Since I get some good deals with Choice, how's the Sleep Inn across from Judge Roy Scream? Also, the Choice webpage for the hotel mentions an Arlington trolley service? Can anyone recommend that? I also see a Bowling museum nearby. Anyone been to that?

^From what I could tell, the park is not currently affected by flooding. The employee lot is back open, I couldn't see any of the main lot blocked off anymore on either of my rides on North Star. -

^After I got off at 4, I waited 10 for back row Renegade, approx. 10 for mid train Steel Venom, 10 for 2nd row Wild Thing, 15 for North Star. -
TPR's 2018 USA Tour Trip Reports!

Those sunset pics make me jealous the forecast calls for rain and thunder for my visit to Carowinds next week. Still extremely excited for Fury, though! -
from what I've been told from a ride op on the ride is that if one of the operators takes their finger off the dispatch button too early the ride will end up getting stuck before the lift. This has happened a few times so far. I've done something similar operating an Arrow Wild Mouse. Fortunately the car could be pushed from the station platform so that it could go to the lift (much to the chagrin of the platform operator )

Unfortunately, it's looking like my trip next week will be a wet one. High chance of thunder and rain my entire visit. So on a scale of Six Flags Great Adventure during Holiday in the Park to Six Flags Great Adventure in the Summer, how is the weather policy? I expect the high rides to shut down for lightning, but what rides shut down for anything more than a light drizzle? Also, while I expect the magic seats on Intimidator/Fury to be the back, do any of the other coasters have magic seats? What seats are recommended--especially on Nighthawk/Hurler/Vortex? -

^Disappointing is the best word to describe Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. I'm a fan of J.A. Bayona's prior work and the film had some good direction and some genuine moments of tension, and at times was a good, mindless popcorn flick. But the script needed another rewrite or 12. And they're bringing Trevorrow back to write and direct the next one? I mean, I'm still going to eventually see it because I am a fan of this franchise, but the script here left a very sour taste in my mouth.

So is Fury an "I need to rent a locker" scenario, or an "I can toss my stuff onto the platform" scenario? -

I hope I'm not turning this thread into the Kings Dominion thread by asking this, but what is the loose article/platform/bin/locker situation at the park? Specifically Fury and Nighthawk. Are there any rides that glasses cannot be worn on even with a strap? Also, does the park sell a decent Afterburn hat? -

When I worked on the security team for a music festival, I couldn't tell you how many festival goers and security members alike suffered from heat-related illnesses. Last year, while operating Valleyfair's Mad Mouse, a girl collapsed in my queue from heat exhaustion. We were within a hundred yards of the first aid station and it still took EMTs 20 minutes to arrive. You can never stress hydration enough when it gets that hot. On a different note; I got stuck on SFGAm's Iron Wolf's Apocalypse's final break due to a power outage for over a half hour.

You're going on the 4th around fireworks time and are wondering if the park will be busy? Conventional wisdom says Steel Venom, Wild Thing, and Renegade will all have long lines. However, there is a good chance that it'll rain all day which will drive away some crowds and cancel the fireworks. A good chunk of the parking lot is also flooded right now, so keep that in mind. -

For my visit in August, I have no intention of rope-dropping, will not be purchasing fast lane; but intend on staying til close all three nights I intend to visit. I know Nighthawk's line is brutal during the day. Does it empty out at all in the evening/close to park close?
