  1. ^or is it Used? Either way it is dxciting!
  2. I think this is a win win. They are getting rid of a great ride that was a huge favorite, but was a staffing and maintenance nightmare. They are adding a much needed coaster that is unique and looks like it could be fun and and a good starter coaster that is a step up from Motocoaster and a step below Viper. My guess is that they went with the most basic pre-configured model they have, or got one used. That would totally fit Premier's past actions with a good number of cheap clone coasters like boomerangs and SLC's. I will miss thunder rapids, but there still is Shipwreck Falls, and DL is getting a new coaster!
  3. I am pretty sure that the only roller coaster you could get for 4.5 million would be used. I think even some of the basics are closed to 10 million. I would expect some type of good flat like a Frisbee or similar or some type of interactive dark ride
  4. I wonder if the new ride announcement will come soon? I received an email today that there will be a huge season pass sale coming up in the next few days. I am wondering if they will announce their new ride in conjunction with that to try to sell more season passes?
  5. Glad to hear an "outsider's" view on the park. We go all the time and tend to overlook a good number of things. The park is nicely landscaped and does have some very good things going for it. I noticed on my visits this year that all of the lights on the pirate were not on at all. Ithe was not like that on my visits last year. The Giant Wheel has been a point of contention for some time. It used to have lights with a great light show. Six Flags took them off and they have not been replaced since.
  6. Did anyone go to the meeting tonight to give us an Update? If not, we may have to wait until an official announcement is made
  7. I would take a starflyer or Frisbee type of ride. Personally, with the statement of family thrills, I don'the expect a coaster. My guess is either a Mack Splash Battle to replace Thunder Rapids or a Sally interactive dark ride. With that being said, I am 99% sure I will be happy with whatever they add.
  8. ^Today at 5PM was the last operating day of the season for DL. No more opportunities unless someone drives by the park randomly to get a look at what if any activity is going on.
  9. Not necessarily... Motocoaster was announced in January, although it didnt need much site prep obciously. ROS was announced in December 1998, but again, no demolition required. I hunt out near the park, so if I notice it disappearing during the offseason ill obviously post it. You are correct, but site prep and footers need to be poured so construction can start. Motocoaster did not require footers as it is a portable model and was placed on a slab of existing concrete and stone fill. ROS was announced in December, but those footers and site prep were done well before that announcement.
  10. If the park was removing Thunder Rapids for a new coaster, that probably would have started by now. Don't believe the ride ops or Dippin dots guys ever!
  11. I would point out that what was said was that it would be a topic of discussion for next year's planning session. That does not guarantee anything. And if they do purchase new trains for all the coasters, that would probably blow the budget for new rides, so we most likely would go another year without a new ride
  12. Went to the park last night after dinner and it was sad as ever. When we got there the only 2 coasters running were boomerang and Motocoaster. I saw predator make one run, ROS and ME 2 runs each before we left at 9:30. Viper did start to run regularly around 7. On top of that, silver bullet and twister were both down as well. The pirate had most of the lights taken out and they were not on at all. Not exactly sure what is going on, but hopefully this is all part of a much larger renovation plan.
  13. I know this gets old, but SFNE is scheduled to go to their planning board this week for their new ride. It is probably about time for DL to do similar if they are adding a new ride next year. Does the town of Darien put their meeting agenda and notes Online? When are their meetings usually held?
  14. They could easily inground a pull through like they do with a coaster, or they could be getting that one random log that is there. The other thing is that if they are adding a coaster next year, the TRUTH footprint is decent sized, and could fit something, hence they would have to make way
  15. Screamscape does report a lot of wild rumours. They are not as bad as they used to be, but I would still take what they say with a grain of salt. If they are doing this, look for survey marker flags in open areas. Parks are announcing 2018 coasters already, so it could happen. They9 could use a new coaster and could use to boost attendance.
  16. I will say that this year may be a special case with the ownership change taking place. CNL was not going to invest in the park since they were selling it. The new owners in EPR are not sure of a budget to give the park yet. I do think this is why we did not see a lot of investments this year. Next year should be a different story, hopefully
  17. If you look on a satellite map of the park, if they were to remove thunder rapids, they could add a huge coaster in a U shape. They could also take the handicapped parking lot for additional space as well. The best part is that they would not need to remover Shipwreck Falls. I do think they do not need both water rides, especially right next to each other.
  18. Silver Bullet was down most of the fall as well. I am a bit concerned for the ride as that seems like a long time to have it down. The problem is that it is unique, so getting parts may not be as easy as if Huss made it.
  19. Well, that is a very welcomed sight. Hopefully the full rehab last year allows twister to run well for a long time. Also, as silly as this sounds, I wonder if the waterfall still Works? It is one of my favorite things about that area of the park
  20. I know the cold and wind are not good for ROS. Unfortunately Sunday was very windy and Saturday was not overly warm, so I would think keeping it closed may be best. If the train is not running smoothly, I would have to think there may be issues with the maintenance team. It ran fine last year, and the only differences would be that it was taken apart and put back together over the winter. I hope the new owners do what needs to in order to bring the park to where it needs to be. I would accept no additions next year for new trains on Motocoaster, ROS and ME
  21. I cannot imagine they would make the old pirate queue a smoking area. It is way too close to an actual queue. Personally, I would not ride the pirate if a smoking area is so close to where I have to wait
  22. I wish the day was better to see actual people at the park, but that is not controllable. I like some of the new signage and paint in areas. At least they are doing improvements even if they are minor. I will say that the strike u up game looks a bit Ike it was just dropped in a spot with little thought. Plus I was hoping they would put in 2 or 3 sets as opposed to just one. Slap Shot looks OK, but the signage does not look to fit the type of building. Maybe it's one of those you have to see it in person things. I am excited to go to the park, just to take a look though
  23. They did post to their Instagram account that a good number of people came to process their season pass. They also showed the front gate, and there was not many people to be seen. I will not be going this weekend or next. The weather has to get better before I go, as riding any type of ride in cold and rain is not fun
  24. I am pretty sure a good number of rides were re-named when they branded to Six Flags. Some names went back to the originals like Corn Popper ND some stuck like Lasso. I think this was when Silver Bullet came to be as I think it was just called Enterprise before that
  25. I already bought our passes for the year as the cost is so cheap. As mentioned it pays for itself in just two visits. I do agree that the overall ride lineup is getting stale, but I have renewed faith in the new owners to invest in the park. I also have faith the Premier will do good things with what will hopefully be a bigger budget than CNL gave them. I do honestly expect to see in park improvemen's as the season progresses including better landscaping, and possibly coaster paint or even a new train.
