Hanno's picture of the day

Oh, I was on it last week! I was lucky, all the effects were working in the dark-ride section, which made it really atmospherical (the fog, the light in front of the boat...). Yeah, atmosherical is the word, because there's almost no scenery, but it's creepy nonetheless. Then, the coaster section is ok... The best about that ride is the queue line, the station, and the music. And the duck we meet, chilling in the station. Quack quack. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

Ok, here's a tough one. (Mistake cleared. Over. ) Today in the news : "A man falls out of a funfair ride in Ouzbekistan". But look at the video! It's only a freaking vest! The best part of the article is : "He's seriously injured, but survived the fall". What the...? -

NEW TPR Video Every Day in April!
KingRCT3 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hahaha. No. Nothing can bring Goudurix to the "good side". The retracking was only about realigning the rails, I really doubt it can do something great. Moreover, despite the massive headbanging, the layout is dull... I mean, it's inversions to inversions, positives g's even on top of them, no zero-g, a dull first drop... Goudurix is pretty from the outside, that's it. I heard it was like the first coaster fully designed on computer. Anyone has more info about that? -
Unnecessary Queuing Lines
KingRCT3 replied to palmerleeberry's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It was completely full last Sunday. You just never know. Wow, lucky me I wasn't there on a such busy day! In the same park, I had the longest queue lenght I ever made. It "only" lasted 1 hour long, but we nearly never stopped walking. I'm obviously talking about Harry Potter. The line was so long they had to add a part in the Jurrassic Park section... and even some switchbacks in the backstages! Does this happen often? -

Nah, that's too thin to be a launch. Plus, LSM or LIM are white, and brakes sometimes brown like here. Those are definitely brakes.. But why? A traditional lift would have classic anti-roll back... Do they plan to do a launch with the chain...?! A backward vertical drop on purprose? So intriguing. -
Best Family Coaster
KingRCT3 replied to Randomman295's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I never rode it, but Force One at Schwaben Park seems to be a very good family: I agree about Bombora too, and the most amazing fact about it is it's a home-made ride! -
Nigloland! New Coaster for 2014
KingRCT3 replied to msep003's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This will be (sure at 80%) a clone of The Storm at Etnaland, without the final heartline roll. 33 meters height with a lift. (from Trips'n'Pics) That ad is sneaky... It says "a drop ON 70 meters", that means the drop is 70 meters length. Nigloland, seriously... -
What's a ratcheting system have to deal with the shin-bar? You're probably right anyways, all I want is to understand your point. How a horizontal beam can help on lateral forces? How it change something on the locking system?... Because for me a lap-bar is a lap-bar, and you can't get out. (Well, obviously the ergonomic ones, not the beams that take over the whole row.) I'm aware I can be wrong and love to learn things, I just jumped when I saw his sentence.

And for laterals forces, I think it's more up to the seat design. Sorry if I sounded rude, but when was the last time you could get out of your seat without unlocking the lap-bar? No matter if you're upside down or not, you can't get out because of the human anatomy. (Not true for old coasters or loose bars (and Poseidon )) I was responding to those who said lap-bars can't handle inversions without that shin-bar. To conclude, the shin-bar seems to be a question of comfort, even if all I heard about those is that they make the ride uncomfortable..

Lol, no. A lap-bar is sufficient. As far as I know, Revolution opened with lap-bars, so did many coasters. Do the physics changed since then? An extrem case is the case of the Sirocco's incident. That Schwarzkopf shuttle loop (tiny lap-bars) stopped upside down, and nobody fell. That makes no sense. A lap-bar is a lap-bar, it won't hold you more if it open upward or what..

Apply for a summer job at a park
KingRCT3 replied to KingRCT3's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for the replies guys! After looking around, it seems it's too late for this year, but I'm keeping CP for next year, making my first job experience this year in a smaller local park (Nigloland). I saw that webpage, that's from here I said to myself, why not me? But something that bug me at the moment is the programs they're talking about here. I don't have a clue what CCUSA or CIEE are. I got to check that. Thanks for pointing that out, because rides was what I was aiming for. Even small one.. So, what do they call "long term people"? Because if I want, I have time, it can be more than a summer job. Ooooh great, I was wondering if such places existed. Thanks a lot! -

Apply for a summer job at a park
KingRCT3 posted a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hi everyone, I am a 19 yr french student and I'm looking for a job for one month or two. Actually I'm not studying this year so I have a lot of spare time. I was looking at a few local parks when I wondered: Why not Cedar Point? So I checked their website and saw they have some offers... Is there any foreign students (non US) over here that have worked at CP? Do they offer a job for one or two months or only for the full season? I heard working in the US, especially for a summer job, was a long way to go.. Is that that hard? I will contact them and ask my questions as well, but I'd like to hear one's personal experience.. Thanks! -

That also looks like something in front of the riders, like in a 4D theater. Strobe, sound, effects, etc??
