You Might Be A Coaster Nerd If....
RollingCoasting replied to PCW_Nut's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You ride your bike down a hill standing up trying to recreate the feeling of a standup coaster (Ok maybe this one's just me lol) -
--- --- Saturday June 13th, 1998 June Local schools aren't out yet this year, so we have a few extra days of walk-ons The park's skyline has barely changed since the grand opening in 1992 I made my way to Fairgrounds first I was the only person on Dodgems A few people lost their lunch to Scream Machine Gyration is a very underrated ride Some sort of dance competition was being held at the Americana Theatre. The park's entertainment offerings have improved over the last couple of years (Excluding that awful Batman and Robin show last year) No line for Spacely's Sprocket Rockets, so, why not? That's funny, I don't remember this character from The Jetson's... Grand Stand's line was the longest all day at 10 minutes, but it was mainly due to 1 train operations I had a value meal from Cocina Picante for lunch/dinner. Dunch? Linner? Meh Harley Quinn is always an enjoyable ride. Fun Fact: SFCK is the only park in the chain with a ride themed to her I wonder if the park could squeeze in a compact flat next to the bathrooms. The only thing I can think of is one of those launched drop towers, but The Tower of Doom is 10 feet away so I can't see it happening. It's kind of funny how long Hurricane's line was in 1995 and 1996 compared to nowadays. I almost dropped my camera to get this shot The Lost Rapids fades into the sunset This guy was having fun Sky Wheel gives great views anytime of the day One more ride on The Monster And Connecticut Twister to finish off the evening Best Regards, ---Jacob Karse--- ---

------ Monday May 25th, 1998 Memorial Day Celebration With schools having the day off, and military getting free admission, I knew today would be on the crowded side So I picked up a Quick Pass! Connecticut Twister's line extending out of the main queue house justifies my theory I did feel a little guilty passing the 3 hour line, but hey, I threw down the extra money for it The whole park was decorated in American Flags to celebrate Memorial Day A nice shot I got from Hurricane's station A little hard to read, but there will be a Fireworks Show tonight near Hurricane! Sweet! Very surprisingly (considering the weather was in the high 70's), Aquaman was the only ride without a queue Verdugo was hauling a$$ today. Must've been that thunderstorm yesterday. Here's a POV: A ride on Haunted Ranch is a great way to sit back and escape the heat I got to ride twice in a row with Quick Pass! It seems that Zipper is the park's most popular flat ride 45 minutes waiting for Scream Machine? Nah. Quick Pass to the rescue! I was about to have another go on Verdugo when it broke down. Why am I not surprised? Connecticut Twister from Main Gates Evening shot of Swingset. The Arcade doesn't seem to be making as much money as it formerly did One last ride on Hurricane before the fireworks start Not bad... ...Better! Til next time! ---Jacob Karse--- ------

I was scammed by a "Park GM"
RollingCoasting replied to Mr. Corn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Never give out personal information to someone you've only met online. Anyone can pretend to be anyone, really. Plus I don't think Jerry would be showing that kind of stuff to his son. But pertaining to the pictures he posted, I'm assuming it was pulled off a social media page if he was able to obtain it so easily, I wouldn't really call that stalking -
Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
RollingCoasting replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Regarding the straight track/brake run, when it was at SFGAm it crossed over the employee service road that goes through the park, so there really wasn't room for any more elements -
Thanks alot guys! I was beginning to worry that people weren't interested in the park I may not get feedback often, but that makes it more special when I do. I'm glad you're enjoying the park so far! --- Friday May 15th, 1998 May Update Good morning Connecticut Kingdom! You know it's going to be a good day when the new ride has no line Love the queue! Connecticut Cruisers gives great views of the Connecticut Twister Some local school was doing a show at the Connecticut Showhouse. The park is dead (Weekdays in May rock!), yet they still manage to take 20 minutes to give me my slice of pizza and medium Sprite. Ridiculous! Time for a marathon! An overview of Connecticut Cruisers Verdugo has actually been running great this year! This is where the original diner used to be, back in 1992 Ha! This sign hasn't been updated, I see Yeah.... One of the only elements I don't hear people complain about being rough @_@ Camp Cartoon still looks great! Spacely's Sprocket Rockets thrilling it's riders Tonight there was a concert at the Gotham City Amphitheater I would go see it later on, but first a few more rides in Gotham Backlot Being the first to enter the theater has it's perks. Great finale! Til next time ---Jacob Karse--- ---

From Screamscape: Park News - (1/25/17) An interesting new rumor was leaked to Screamscape this week regarding the future of the park's V2: Vertical Velocity coaster. While this is simply a rumor about a possible future plan for the park, please keep in mind that plans are always subject to change and that nothing is locked in at this point in time. With that said, Screamscape has been told that there is a chance that Vertical Velocity could possibly be closed by the later half of 2017 to be removed and sent to another smaller Six Flags theme park in order to make room for whatever the park has in store for 2018. According to our source, there was actually a period of time that V2 was considered for removal in order to build Joker for 2017, but the location of those plans changed and allowed the coaster to stay in place... for now. So if you are a fan of Vertical Velocity, then I suggest you get all the rides you can when the park opens for the season, just in case. --- I don't remember who, but someone on another forum first brought this up in August EDIT: It was This user

--- Saturday April 4th, 1998 Opening Day - Camp Cartoon Network and Connecticut Cruisers open Welcome back! It's now 1998 at Six Flags Connecticut Kingdom, and I'm happy to tell you that TWO new additions will make their debut today at the park! But before we get to the new additions, I'd like to point out a few subtle changes. First, Tajito Village has been renamed to "Crack Axle Canyon", similar to other Six Flags parks. Now onto the big changes Andre's Diner is the new eatery at the park this year. Combining both the diner (1992-1992) and Andre's Pizza (1992-1997), this eatery serves everything from pizza to root beer floats! Also, The Blues: Snacks and Drinks, has been renamed to "Cartoon Cafe." Why, you may ask? Well.... NEW in 1998, is Camp Cartoon Network! 2 BRAND NEW children's rides along with 3 returning classics from the park's former Nifty Fifties Playground are included in this new area! The first new ride, is the Flintstones Rocky Road Rescue Service! Grand Wheel has returned as "Bedrock Boulder Roller" Cartoon Carousel is the reincarnation of Carousel Musical Cups is back as "Yogi's Yahoo Cups" Lastly, NEW is the Jetson's Jet Orbiters! This unique children's attraction takes riders in mini "Spaceships" in which they try to bump each other's. Possibly the biggest addition to Camp Cartoon is Spacely's Sprocket Rockets (Junior Twister with a new paint job) Though technically not in Camp Cartoon, this fun coaster sits right across the midway and takes riders on an exciting one minute journey into outer space. Another nice change is the addition of flower pots and the new County Fair Snacks facility in Fairgrounds. The area's entry sign has been replaced as well The new bathrooms in Fairgrounds look great! The 2nd new addition is Connecticut Cruisers! Sitting on the former site of Junior Twister, now Spacely's Sprocket Rockets, this Arrow Dynamics car ride takes riders on a trip through the forests of connecticut. Fun Fact: It uses the cars from Cab Derby! Some props were scattered throughout the rides's course as well. One last shot of Connecticut Cruisers at night. You can see the nice shed in which the cars are stored parallel to the track, the queue is on the other side. I enjoyed opening day, I hope to be back soon! ---Jacob Karse--- ---

Why are coaster enthusiasts weird?

Does anyone else get laughed at when taking pictures of coasters -
--- Sunday October 26th, 1997 Closing Day (Fright Fest still) Another season has come to an end here at Connecticut Kingdom Fright Fest has been quite an enjoyable event. I hope it returns next year! The scariest part of Fright Fest: Verdugo was open! I forgot how fun Torbellino is Apocalyptic Picnic was just as fun as last time El Starfish had a 5 minute queue, so why not? Grand Stand was down in the morning but eventually opened back up later in the day I love this shot What's to come in 1998? Corpse Cavern or Connecticut Twister? Orleans Park was dead As was the candy trail I went to ride El Scrambler when I noticed that Grand Stand was up and running My last stand of the season (Terrible pun intended) My last swing of the season (Ok I should stop) Haven't played in a while It would've been nice to have seen Dodgems get a bit of Fright Fest theming One last journey through the fog Goodnight Ferris Wheel A zen ride on Hurricane was the perfect way to end the season! So yeah. That's 1997 for yah. I can't wait to find out what the park has up their sleeves for 1998. ---Jacob Karse--- ---

--- Sunday September 28th, 1997--- Fright Fest Opening Day - Part 2 I have no idea what's going on. We'll have to wait until spring Monster was running a special intense cycle for Fright Fest The Hurricane Candy Trail made it's return this year My only complaint is that there was less theming. The candy was surprisingly abundant A nice view of the empty Gotham City Amphitheater Sigh. Hurricane was down for the day. Then again, is there ever a day when everything's open at this park? New this year is Corpse Cavern. Similar to 24 Elm Street (Attraction that gave woman heart attack in 1993), Corpse Cavern is a fully enclosed attraction. It was supposed to be themed to an abandoned morgue (Reminds me, park officials said Americana Morgue was supposed to return this year but cancelled due to "Construction in the area" ) but really, it was just pitch black walls with a strange odor and eerie music and sound effects. The exit I completely forgot upon entering, but I was able to get some great shots of Junior Twister being.. removed? The exterior Inside The park's "scareactors" began to emerge at sundown Woah baby Will Grand Stand have competition in Mid-Century Square next year? Or will it just be something small? Ah, who cares. Grand Stand > Whatever's coming in. Nothing like a spin on Gyration to close off the night But of course, you always have to finish off Fright Fest nights with a ride on Fog.. er. .Scream Machine Really needs new trains The fog, however, is marvelous! I'll be back once more for Fright Fest closing day, then it's 1998! ---Jacob Karse--- ---
