  1. Thank you for reporting a paranormal disturbance in our construction area. We have recorded your call and will log it in our incident records. Please stay informed about other disturbances via our website at carowinds.com. You can't stop it, you can only hope to contain it. The world will know August 21st.
  2. I've had the exact opposite experience with Skull Mountain. 2 trains running every time I've gone.
  3. ^I must just be hitting the park on its bad days this year...2 trains on Nitro, Bizarro stacking awfully, etc. The only thing consistent this year has been the crew on El Toro, which is awesome as always. Every other year I've always seen them run all the trains, good operations, etc. Maybe I'll try on a Thursday or Monday and see how that goes.
  4. When is the last time you went? Nitro has been running all 3 trains consistently this summer. I was just there on Wednesday and two weeks before that on a Tuesday.
  5. ^The park just added Zumanjaro this year. I'm not thinking the park is getting anything major next year (although I'd be happy to be wrong about that). If anything, I'm really hoping along with a lot of other people, that they try to clean up the park and hopefully work on reopening that path between Ka and El Toro. While I'd love to see a new ride, I would much rather see them fix what they already have. The past few times, Nitro has only been running 2 trains, B & C. Is there something wrong with Train A? Have they used all 3 trains on Nitro this season yet?
  6. I have the same issue with finding friends willing to go on the long trips. Planning on hitting Kings Island in August for the first time since 2001, friends bailed, but I'm still planning on going as I've missed quite a bit and nothing is going to stop me from trying out Banshee this year.
  7. ^^I've noticed that it's smoother when the trim isn't being used also. The ride just seems to run better. Does anyone know why the trim was added in the first place?
  8. ^My mistake, it does have T-bars. However, that would also help my point of proper training.
  9. It's pretty pointless to ban T-bars simply because of a single accident. Millennium Force has been running for 14 years with T-bars AND its original trains with no ejections, Top Thrill Dragster has been running since 2003, same thing: no ejections and original trains. I'm pretty sure Cedar Fair's Intamin rides with T-bars have had zero fatalities on them. If I remember correctly, the SROS incident was majority to blame due to operator error: not making sure the bar was down on the rider's lap, not their gut. Instead of banning T-bars, maybe MA should have demanded SFNE improve their training. On the training note, NTAG has the supposedly 'safer' U-bars, and it still ejected someone. Most likely MA banned the T-bars to calm the public down and show that they were 'keeping people safe'. In reality, Six Flags should have been forced to modify how it trains employees so that and ejection would not happen again. Any restraint can have an ejection, it's up to the operators to ensure every guest is checked and locked in properly. Restraint sensors and new trains can only do so much.
  10. Headed to Dorney for my first time in a few weeks. I'll be going on either a Tuesday or Wednesday. From the sounds of things, it doesn't seem like I should have a problem riding all the coasters, however it sounds like the water park gets pretty busy. If we decide to hit up the water park, any tips on which slides to go to first and which ones to skip if necessary?
  11. I think it does vecause I was at the park on friday night and around 9pm got the last ride on KK as it shut down for techincal difficulties. Then when I got off and walked over to Zumanjaro it had just closed down. A few minutes Zumanjaro reopened and I got my first ride on that and KK had just reopened when I got off. Zumanjaro only closes Ka down when its roof doesn't close since Ka isn't allowed to run unless the roof is down. Zumanjaro can have a break down where Ka continues to run as long as the roof is closed. I've seen it happen before. Thanks for the clarification Ryan. Good to know that is the only thing Zumanjaro related that would close KK would be the roof.
  12. ^That's definitely disappointing, though it makes sense as the computers for KK need to know when Zumanjaro is running and vice versa. Hopefully Six Flags can get NJ to loosen up and allow the 2 rides to run simultaneously, although I'm not getting my hopes up for that.
  13. Headed out to the park today as I hadn't been back since Zumanjaro opened. It was very muggy, but a fun day. Arrived around 11:30 and headed over to Zumanjaro. The ride only had what would have been a 20 minute wait, but it did break down for about 10-15 minutes. It looked like there was an issue with the retracting roof. During this time, KK did not send any trains out either. Does anyone know if Zumanjaro downtime affects KK? I'm hoping it was just because the roof wouldn't close. Afterward Zumanjaro, we headed over to KK which only had a 30 minute line. I'm glad to see that Zumanjaro has not drastically reduced Kingda Ka's capacity, as the crew was still constantly loading and unloading trains, sending them out as quickly as possible. We rode in the 2nd row of car 2. A great ride as always. Next we headed over to El Toro which was a 1 train station wait. The ride was running as great as always, rode in the 2nd row of car 6. No matter how many times I ride it, the air time always blows me away. I'm glad SFGAdv maintains it so well, as it is definitely one of the best in the US. After El Toro, we rode Bizarro, which was running all 3 trains. The ride itself is great, however the operations were slow as usual. All three trains stacked every time, and the ops weren't moving as fast as the other rides. It was a walk-on and I'm glad to see them using all available trains. Next we rode the sky ride and hit up Nitro. They were running 2 trains and it was only about a 5 minute wait. There was a short delay as someone pulled out their cell phone and the ride was stopped on the lift. Nitro was running great. We rode in Train C and didn't notice any unusual vibrations or roughness. After Nitro was Batman. It was a walk-on and was a great intense ride. It's definitely running the best that I can remember, very smooth and intense. At this point the storms started to move in, so we decided to ride Skull Mountain, as my friend had never been on it. The queue was moving very slowly and the hallway leading to the station was pretty unbearable as the ac was not working. They were only running one train, which due to the crowd levels I would assume was fine, however as the other rides closed and people started rushing it, a second train would have definitely helped. I'm glad that both Zumanjaro and Kingda Ka capacities are not majorly affected by each other. Both rides seemed to get as many people possible through as best they could given that they can't operate together. As has been mentioned before, the Zumanjaro queue definitely has an unfinished feel to it. I wish they would have added plants to more than just in-between the queue and exit paths, though the new views of El Toro are nice. The ride crews seemed to be a little slower than normal, but I'll toss that up to low crowd levels and the absurd humidity today, however I'm hoping they're faster on a busy Saturday. Overall it was a great day cut short by some stormy weather. While the park has its ups and downs, I'll always be grateful to live so close to a park with such great rides.
  14. ^^This is true. With the park's track record of ruining good rides with bad trains, maybe if we start saying Mind Eraser is the best ride in the park, they will try ruining it with those new SLC trains
  15. Is there any chance of the park bringing back the old train? I've even heard the gp complaining about the ride and not remembering it being as bad last season. I'm also wondering why they didn't just approach Vekoma about a new train, as they also make a 4 across inverted train (Battlestar Galactica). Surely they could have modified a version for the GIB. At the very least, I really hope they do something to the new train to make the ride better, as it completely ruined one of the best rides in the park.
  16. Cedar Point has always been open till midnight on the 4th of July and Saturdays in July for as long as I can remember, this year it happened to be on a Friday, so the midnight closings were back to back. I would assume attendance would be down this year, as there were no major record breaking additions, aka a major roller coaster, added this year. I'm sure every park has a down year attendance-wise the year after adding a major roller coaster.
  17. From all the pictures, it appears as though all three towers share the loading area. Without separate loading areas, maintenance would be unable to work on a tower that was down while the other 2 are still operating. I'm guessing Six Flags could choose 2 towers with separate load areas or 3 towers with one loading area, and Six Flags opted for the 3 tower design. Only having one motor also cuts down on parts needed and I'm guessing it takes less time to inspect as opposed to 3 motors, which helps save labor costs and cuts down on daily inspection times.
  18. The seats towards the back of the train seem like they are much more accommodating. In the very last row, the buckle seems like it's in the highest possible location, giving the most room.
  19. It depends, I have a SFGAdv pass and there is a bring a friend free coupon to bring someone to SFNE for free, as well as the one to bring someone to SFGAdv.
  20. Spent all day at the park yesterday and had a blast! Gatekeeper was definitely a fun ride, loved the near misses, Maverick was as good as ever, even Magnum seemed to be running better than last year. Crowds were minimal, waited 20 minutes for MF, less than 10 for Maverick, Magnum was a walk-on and everything else was between a walk-on to 10 min wait. The longest line was for TTD which was 30 minutes. It sprinkled on and off for a little which scared me due to CP's rain policy, however from what I saw, everything kept operating, including TTD. Can't wait to get back later this year! I also have to note that the food staff in particular were definitely much faster than in past seasons and very friendly and helpful!
  21. Glad to hear Cedar Point is reopening tomorrow! I wonder if work continued on TTD or whether they had to stop until this water main situation was fixed. Here's to hoping TTD opens with the park tomorrow!
  22. This is definitely not Cedar Fair / Cedar Point's fault and the guests aren't the only ones who are disappointed and upset. Cedar Fair should be just as upset missing out on operating on a beautiful weekend. Cedar Point employees must be upset by unexpectedly missing out on 2 days of pay, and the town of Sandusky must be upset missing out on the tax revenue from Cedar Point being closed, including loss of revenue from the surrounding hotels. I'm sure everyone is doing everything possible to ensure this doesn't go on longer than it has to.
  23. Hopefully they will be able to reschedule the Coasting for Kids event if the park can't reopen in time for it. Also hoping the park reopen's before my trip on Tuesday, and to think I was just worried about only TTD not being open, didn't see this one coming!
  24. I'm headed to Cedar Point on Tuesday. Can't wait!
