I'm wondering if they're gonna start refreshing areas of the park, beginning with the lake front. Decent theming, new/refreshed food venues, and of course a new ride to anchor the area. The last new area was Plaza Del Carnival with El Toro. I think when Six Flags does this method, it generally turns out fairly decent, SFMM being the latest example of this with the Screampunk District. I'm guessing it's going to be the larger 4D freespin with a refreshed lakefront.

Has anyone seen the email blast yet? This should put to rest any doubts about this being a record breaker Cedar Point 2016 Teaser -

Not necessarily. From what I remember, Maverick's track was sitting outside Breakers Express for a while before the announcement. -

IDK, I've always dreamed of a section of a park paying homage to RCT just for fun. Like, rides named "Dive Coaster 1" and have surveys when you get off asking if you thought it was a "good value." Yeah ok, maybe not. Chiseling Paradise in China comes pretty close with the ride names...10 Inversion Roller Coaster, Dive Coaster, etc http://rcdb.com/5904.htm -
I think them lending the train to SFGAdv might have messed up the train rehabs. It's clear that for the 3 train coasters, they tend to have 2 running with one in constant rehab/used for parts. I'm guessing when the 3rd was loaned, it screwed with the rehab schedule, hence typical one train operations. Hopefully they'll be able to have 2 trains running again soon, but my guess is they are busy (hopefully) trying to get Goliath reopened.

I'm honestly surprised that operations could get worse from what they were on the original Cyclone. The original always seemed to have the worst crew, moving at a snail's pace, no sense of urgency, and staff that just didn't seem to care. They honestly made it seem like Tatsu had a Cedar Point crew working it

^They did close off the single ride line periodically yesterday when they estimated it would be a longer wait than standby. During the 30/45 minutes I was in line, I saw them pull 5, maybe 6 tops. I know I definitely boarded before the last person in the single rider line got on, and they were in line before I got there

I also agree sprucing up he park should be a major priority of the park and think they are getting there slowly but surely. Each time a major new attraction opens, it comes with a refreshed area of the park, and it seems like this is a good strategy for them that's working. We can all agree park upkeep just hasn't been a major capital investment, but tying it into a major new attraction allows them to advertise a new ride while also refreshing an area. They did a great job with DC Universe as well as the Screampunk District so hopefully more of these areas are in the future. We should probably be looking to the less traveled areas of the park for A) The next area getting rethemed/refreshed and B) Where the next new/renovated ride will be going. My guess is either the Riddler/Movietown area or that back section by Apocolypse. I'm think the latter is more likely because that area seems the most lacking, isn't it also still referred to as Psyclone Bay?

GCI: Are Their Days Over?
saweetdude05 replied to chadster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Having only been on 2 GCI's (Apocalypse and Gwazi), I have to say that Apocalypse is a great ride! Really fast, good moments of air time and laterals, and just an all around fun ride. It's short, but sweet. It is no where near the smoothest ride in the park, but it definitely isn't the worst and I would have no problem doing multiple rides. -
Just returned home from the park. I haven't seen the park that crowded in ages! figured I would do a mini TR. We ended up getting to the park around 10am with a huge amount of cars in front of use and almost all of the toll booths open. After parking we headed in and saw the TC line almost passing Goliath's entrance! We decided to hold off and went down to Scream. This is the first time I've seen Scream have a line outside of it's entrance since its opening year. We ended up waiting a little over 30 minutes. The ops were doing a great job with their 2 trains. The 3rd train was not on the transfer and no where to be seen. The ride was your typical B&M floorless experience with its usual rattle. Next up was Batman. Having not been to the park in a while (other than the TC commercial filming) does anyone know if it received new trains? Or were they just repainted and refurbished? Either way, it was an amazing, forceful ride as always. 2 trains running and wait time of about 40 minutes. After Batman, we decided to grab some lunch and went to the BBQ place by Riddler's. I got the pulled pork sandwich platter with mashed potatoes and gravy and kettle chips. The sandwich was really good, bigger than I thought it would be and the chips had a nice BBQ seasoning. The mashed potatoes left something to be desired, they were pretty bland. Also at lunch, I saw that they were offering a sports refill bottle for free refills all season for $19.99 +tax. I ended up getting one as I will be back much more this summer for some Twisted Colossus rides! Next up, we decided to brave out the Twisted Colossus line which had somewhat decreased to just in front of Lex Luthor. The man handing out tickets said the line was about 2 hours from this point. We ended up waiting just shy of 3 hours, however the ops were doing amazing. Really hauling to get those trains out as fast as possible and I actually only saw the ride stack maybe one or two times. There was even some down time for them while they waited for trains to complete the circuit. With 3 trains running, operations seemed to go very quickly. The staff was great and the energy in the station was awesome with every train coming back with people clapping and cheering. The only interesting thing I saw was that car 5 (rows 9 & 10) on the Orange train were not being loaded. Not sure what was going on with that. Never the less we managed to get a back seat ride, row 12 on the Orange train. I've wanted a back seat ride on this thing since last Tuesday and today I finally got it! This ride is insane in the back, the air time even more intense and it just seemed even wilder. After Twisted Colossus, we ended up just walking around as my friend was not dealing with the heat too well. We walked by Full Throttle which was cycling an empty train, no guests in the station or queue, anyone know if it reopened? He sat out while I caught a ride on Riddler's which was good as always. Yeah it's a little rough but it's definitely my favorite stand up by far. After Riddler we decided to call it a day. I can't stress enough how much I love Twisted Colossus! It's hands down my favorite ride in all of California and my 2nd favorite after Maverick at Cedar Point. The Screampunk District looks awesome and I actually saw a decent crowd lining up for the 2pm Kwerk show. The park was packed which I was glad to see, as it seems like this is just the ride the park needed to get people to come back and check it out. Operations on all of the rides seemed to be awesome and I'm really hoping that the park will continue to focus on throughput for not just Twisted Colossus, but the whole park in general. If today was any indication on how the summer will go, things are really starting to look up for this park and I can't wait to see what they have in store for the future!

I for one am extremely happy that the park is focusing on capacity more, isn't that one of the top complaints about this park? I'm sure SFMM factored in everything and decided the majority of people would rather experience a full ride rather than sit on a lift hill baking in the California sun waiting for however long it takes for the next train to be dispatched. The green lift is designed to slow to wait for another train, but it is set to continue on as normal if it gets to a sensor which says the blue side cannot catch up. Let's all just be happy that SFMM finally got the long, air time machine that we all wanted, and on top of that, one of the greatest coasters ever built.

From what I observed I don't think an on-ride photo is in the works. At the filming I didn't even see a set up for a booth to display the photos. I'm hoping one gets added and I find it strange that the park's newest headliner wouldn't include one, but from what I saw on Tuesday, I don't think it will be included.

While waiting on the brake run, it was explained to us that the trains are much easier to sync when all 3 are going as opposed to 2 as the computer is set for 3 train syncing, however their main concern during normal operation is throughput, not dueling. They want as many people to experience the ride as opposed to getting it to duel, so if they miss the mark, that train on the green lift won't be waiting around. That dueling mark was hard enough to achieve with, at one point, 8 attendants, people boarding with no loose articles and the occasional one person getting swapped out. So, you MAY get to see/experience the ride duel, just don't go in expecting it during normal daily operation. ^Only 2 trains running, orange and purple. It appeared the blue train was getting the camera mount set up for media day.

Just got home from the commercial filming and I have to agree and say Twisted Colossus is one of the greatest rides ever made. Growing up just outside of Cleveland, I was definitely spoiled by being so close to Cedar Point, however I must say this ride is just as good, if not better than anything at CP with the exception of Maverick, IMO. I managed 15 rides today, including a 7 ride marathon while they tried to get the perfect shot with the trains dueling. SFMM was definitely trying to get those trains to duel and at one point had 8 attendants in order to get the 2nd train dispatched in time! The ride is simply incredible, with the green side winning for me. The blue side is a great ride, but that green side is just incredible! My favorite part of the ride definitely has to be the Top Gun Stall. Its simply amazing hanging upside down, looking down and seeing a train rushing below you. The netting does NOT detract from this element at all, IMO. For whatever reason, the High 5 seemed to be the hardest to synchronize. The green side always seemed to be ahead no matter how fast that 2nd train was dispatched. Overall, I managed to get 4 rides that dueled, with the last 2 rides of the day definitely being the best dueling. When the ride doesn't duel, it is still an amazing ride, however when it does get that perfect matchup, it truly brings the experience to a whole different level. That little extra kick at the start of the ride isn't really a launch, more of the kicker wheels set on a higher speed to give the ride an extra oomph over those first small hills. The Screampunk District looks really amazing, glad to see all the work the park is putting into it. I'm hoping that they will continue to do this with the rest of the park, as they are really doing an incredible job with it and DC Universe. From the many times going up the lifts on TC, the parking lot didn't look too packed, so I'm sure if anyone went today, it was a great day to get a lot of rides in. The new paint on Scream looks awesome, it really makes the ride look brand new, with the exception of the trains still sporting the same original paint scheme. Overall, the ride is a real winner and I'm so happy to have it only ~45 minutes away from me! The ride is truly a gem and has taken the place of favorite ride in the park from Tatsu.
