  1. I'd rather have a new trash can. This is the worst thing Six Flags has ever done. Why couldn't it be a trash can instead! I'm gonna go big and say a new lamp post. It's a very outlandish, but somewhat true guess based off my "sources" In all seriousness, since they showed the park entrance quite a few times in the new teaser, I think they could be getting a new entrance or at least a new ride in the area to revitalize it. Possibly a skywarp?
  2. There's not enough bare concrete in that photo. I doubt WOF's will look even as nice as SDC's. I'm sure it will be the usual really nice entrance sign, then concrete and steel railings around the ride. Though, simplicity does look good in some cases. Steelhawk is a good example of that.
  3. I recommend you guys check out the storyline video SDC posted! It's stunning. There is no doubt going to be some insane storyline theming in the queue!
  4. I absolutely love Wildfire's station. It's beautiful! I honestly don't mind waiting in longer lines on wildfire because I'm bound to find a new interesting detail every time. The theming is just so detailed! Yeah I have been tempted to walk behind there to the overflow queue to look at more of the theming. I think I have been thru there once or twice in the many years it has been at the park. Its unfortunate in the fact that Wildfire has the shortest coaster line in the park so most never get to appreciate the station theming. Not just that, but if the line is short, the lab scene with the animatronic door and science equipment isn't even lit up or doing anything. It's a shame that amazing theming gets hidden on slow, even some normal days. I feel they should just make the line permanently go by that scene as it tells a lot of the ride's storyline. On another note, a lot of the theming in Wildfires station has seemed to be touched up this year, including the mist when the train is dispatched. It has worked consistently every single visit I've had this year.

  6. This coaster is looking amazing. I just can't believe how such a quaint and calm park like Silver Dollar City can devise such crazy rides. Though, I'm kinda baffled by the complete absence of theming anywhere during the ride. Maybe they will pull an Outlaw Run and use the terrain and setting as the theme, but if they go with the time travel theme, it would be hard to symbolize time travel with out at least some theming during the ride. Maybe the theming will come at a later time in construction or do what Hansa Park did with Karnan and add the theming after the ride was built to spread out the cost.
  7. I swear, with WOFs awful operations, they're slowly becoming the Fuji-Q of America. The only thing they need now is forced pat downs on every rider and an extra 3 seat belts on the coasters.
  8. That coaster is looking seriously bizarre. Though, how can we call the coaster short this early in construction? Unless the track has been nearly setup but I can't see it in the photo, I don't think we really have enough to judge scale from. Last I saw, there is still a ton of footers ready to be placed. Also we have no clue how it's gonna get back to the station. I do agree that this will be a sleeper hit for 2017, though I've seen a lot more attention on this project since that insane 90* drop was built. Either way, I can't wait to see some concept art on August 16th!
  9. Being a huge theming geek, I'm honestly not sure which I'm more excited for. The theming or the coaster. I'm really falling in love with this steampunk-flying-time machine-science invention sort of storyline theyre going with on this project. I really feel this may be the pinnacle moment for SDC.
  10. I visited Six Flags Over Texas on Wednesday and Thursday. All though I don't want to write out a lengthy trip report, here are some things worth mentioning. - Our visit to the park started on Wednesday with some of the heaviest rain I had seen all summer. Heck, there was even a small water spout / cold air funnel that spun up in the area. Much to our surprise all rides except La Vibora and Shockwave were open. Has to be one of the most relaxed weather policies I've seen, though it's not as relaxed as Frontier City's "until lightning strikes within 1 mile of the park, rides are open" policy that I saw last summer. - Justice League was in an okay condition. Most effects worked, but the smoke screen and lex luthor hologram were very dim. The audio was much louder than visit, and the fire effect was working, so that's a plus. - I've only ridden the Gold River Adventure dark ride once and I was about 5 or 6, so I didn't really remember much about it. I personally am a big fan of dark rides. They can make a break a park for me. Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised by this dark ride. It was fantastic! All animatronics worked smoothly, the audio and lighting were nice, some scenes were very detailed, and it was overall a very good experience. It was a lot nicer of a dark ride than I would expect from Six Flags. It was in much better shape than Justice League too, so it steals the spot as my favorite dark ride at the park. - Ride operations and customer service have improved two fold since my last summer visit. We normally just visit during Holiday in the park because our experience during the summer two years ago was absolutely awful. From 10 minute dispatches, to slow food service, and even getting a soda nozzle in our drink and the employee laughing at us for it. Well let's say this park is on a very strong path to success. On all coasters, trains rarely stacked. The only ride that frequently stacked is NTG, and that's expected with its restraint system. Most rides dispatched in under 1:30. Shockwave even had 30-45 second dispatches at one point during our visit. To summarize, we were just really shocked how fast the operations were because you never hear anything good about the park's operations. Food service was also much better. We ate lunch at JBs Smokehouse and were greeted by very nice employees and we got our food, hot and fresh in under 3 minutes. Last time we waited a good 20 minutes just to order. Besides that, all employees at stores and on rides were so much more friendly and efficient! -So a lot of people really bash the S&S free fly coasters, but I absolutely loved Joker. We got a good 4-5 flips on our first ride and at least got 3 on our other rides. It was a very fun and intense ride. Also, the line never stops moving on this ride. They get people on and off the ride quickly as possible and dispatched the trains quite frequently. My only complaint is that the restraint isn't too friendly on "male parts" Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride. -Last little thing I noticed and haven't seen mentioned anywhere is how random the lap bar position is on NTG. For some seats, I could pull, down the lap bar and leave it not too tight and it would be good to go, but other seats the lap bar had to go way further down. A few of my rides the lap bar was down really far, but still needed a few pushes to get a green light. It's just really strange how the lap bars could be so different from seat to seat. - Our overall experience was actually really good this visit. It was on par with some of the nicer park's I've visited recently. I am really happy to see the positive changes happening in the park now. Over Texas has so much potential and I'm glad they are finally tapping into the potential!
  11. That track in the middle of the photo looks to be either a launch or brake Run. Also, there looks to be the start of an inversion slightly on the right. I'm just stunned. This coaster just got really crazy in a short amount of time! I'm super hyped for this!
  12. I have no idea what you are talking about. We just rode tonight and even our bigger riders had no problem fitting into the ride. I'd say our bigger riders are between 260 - 310lbs and yes the belts were tight, but you could easily get them latched if you're not an idiot and know how to put on a seat belt. There is *NO WAY IN HELL* someone weighing 185lbs didn't make it on the ride. I'm sorry, I don't believe that for a hot second. I didn't find the restraints or belts any more/less restrictive than opening day. On the plus side, the ride ops were more than happy to push on the restraint if needed which is already leaps and bounds a better guest experience than what we witnessed on Lightning Rod. That's quite interesting. Maybe things have changed since my visit. Who knows. I just found it strange that I could go from easily riding, to not fitting at all in a very short time. The thing that made me think that the seat belts may have been changed was that I still easily get the green light on the lap bar. Also, I am not lying for the sake of creating a story or pointless discussion, I was just going off of what the guy told me on the train. Honestly. Either way, I can change my size to fit in the ride. I could *totally* afford to drop the pounds Hope you guys had a good time at SDC. *edit* I finally got the photo you attached to your post to load. From the looks of it, the seatbelt that is mounted near the center of the two seats was much longer than what was mounted on the test seat when I visited. It could've possibly changed between my visit and yours.
  13. Now watch, you guys bash this project for possibly being a spinning coaster, but when it opens, it will be called the best thing since sliced bread. I don't think SDC nor Mack rides could make a dud project. I visited the park this week and there were a few things I'd like to mention. - Outlaw Run must've had its seat belts drastically shortened. For me, the seat belts were a good 5" too short to latch. I'd understand not fitting if I gained weight, but I haven't. I still easily got a green light on the lap bar and I fit in all the other rides the same I have been for years. Saw many people get denied from riding. Talked to one person on the train who may have been 5'8", 185 lbs who said he couldn't fit because of the seat belts, so it's not just me experiencing it. It also seemed to slow down dispatches a lot because I never saw the ride running when we were in the area. They'd be trying to squeeze people in the seat belts for a good 2-3 minutes. That had to be the most restrictive ride I've seen, quite worse than even Lightning Run at KK. Really disappointed me, but didn't ruin my trip. When was the last time you went before this? I have went 4 times this year and have noticed the seat belts on Outlaw Run seem to have been shortened. I can still fit, but the seat belt is quite snug. I am 6'1 and weigh about 240. The last visit I had to the park when I fit in Outlaw Run was October 2016. A friend of mine said the seatbelts were first shortened around Christmas. I visited in March of this year and had an extremely tight fit in the seatbelts. Ride operator told me that "the new seatbelts hadn't stretched out yet". It seems that the seatbelts hadn't stretched from my last visit, but seemed to be shortened yet again. I'm 5'11 and about 240 as well, and the seatbelt was about 5" too short to connect. I easily cleared the lap bar though.
  14. I don't think that's theming, just lights for the new on ride cameras seeing that they're positioned not on the outside of the train, but on the backs of seats right where the cameras are.

Really disappointed me, but didn't ruin my trip. -While we were there, a wooden walkway had been constructed from the metal structure presumably the exit ramp for the 2018 project. They also were doing lots of welding around the station. Also, the mysterious structure in the middle of the ride is started to be covered up and there is some weird framing around the building. There is also some supports visible, don't know when they were put up, that show at least one inversion on the ride. Now seeing the ride in person, it looks a lot more compact than it does in the pictures. I bet you this will end up being the American version of Taron. -Operations were crazy fast while we were there. Wildfire had the fastest. They would be ready to dispatch as soon as the other train got to the cobra roll. Very impressive. Quite a change from the last few years were the train would always stack for at least 3+ minutes because one operator pulled every single kid off the train and would have to recheck the train after every kid. Though, that one operator is gone, and I'm glad to see that. -Got to ride flooded mine 5 times in a row with out getting off. I love that they dont make you walk around to ride again on that. It was in a pretty good condition too. Most effects and animatronics were working just fine, even saw some things that I didn't even know existed. - I did notice that the park was unusually dirty. There were empty cups, straws, paper scattered through the paths, in the queues, in gardens and planters. A lot of the bathrooms were filthy too. TP scattered everywhere, water all over the floors. Bodily wastes on the floor too. Also worth mentioning that there were like 3 or 4 bandaids on the stairs by River Blast or whatever it's called that were there for all 3 days. It was just really gross stepping in trash like constantly. Even at the beginning of the day, the parking lots were just scattered with trash. -The fireworks at night were really good. I don't know who the pyrotechnics company who did them is, but they did really good. It was an extremely loud show. -Overall I had a nice time while I was there. Outlaw Run is giving me the motivation to drop some pounds if the seat belts stay the same way they are, so that's a plus. It was a nice time in the park!
  16. The rattling you hear on Mamba is the safety chains that connect the cars together flying around because of the airtime. The chains don't actually connect the individual cars together, but they're there in case something happens to the actual connection. And yes, mustang runner is great. Runs much faster than most troikas I've ridden. I also agree that there needs to be more than one op at falcons flight. In fact, no joke with this little story, a kid ran up behind me while I was waiting for FF and he looks around the ride and and then says "one person, only one person? This is nonsense! No sense at all. Why does every ride here only have one person? It takes forever!". This kid was also like 6. So if even 6 year old can notice the crappy operations, you know there's a problem. They had two for the most part of my visit, but they would follow one another around the ride, so pretty much just one person was actually operating it.
  17. I visited yesterday and man was that an interesting visit. Instead of writing a huge block of text, I'll just put some bullet points of how the day went and some stuff that happened. - Prowler is still closed, but after riding the train and talking with a ride operator, it's closed for some very extensive track work. In the first half of the ride and the drop, the top few layer have been replaced in many high Force sections. In the last half of the ride, by the looks of it, that last few airtime hills have been completely replaced. Looking forward to riding once it reopens and hopefully it won't have that awful death rattle that it's had the last few seasons. - Zulu was closed and rightfully so. It's been completely disassembled. All that's left standing is part of the arm that raises the ride. Could this mean it may be leaving? - Lots of new planters and greenery around the park. Really helps cover up some of the bare spots that the new additions have left around the park. -Mamba was running fantastic. It just blew right through the mid course. No exaggeration, the last few bunny hops produced some pretty nice ejector airtime. Really surprised me! Though, it was a one train operation with 5+ minute dispatches. This made the station fill up and the line stretch way out the station. Also, why does every coaster wait for all riders to leave the station before letting the next group on? That adds some seriously unnecessary time on to their dispatches. -Timberwolf. Actually running pretty good! The trim was very light and made the ride way more exciting than it has been. Still having issues with the restraints, but they seem to be learning how to handle those better. I also have to give it to the Timberwolf crew for having the best operations that day. In the evening they were dispatching at about 1:30. Still one train. Also, heard from many people that Timberwolf is closing in august to finish the last part of the retracking. -Patriot was pretty usual. Kinda getting a vibration. I don't know if anyone noticed the new restraints yet, but they're nice and shiny! -Spinning Dragons - god awful operations. They would wait for the first car to get back to the station and re align before sending the next car. Overheard some ride ops leaving the ride complaining that they got in trouble for going to slow and how "no one can tell me to go faster". This is the mindset that kills the operations here, -Falcons Flight was quite fun. I rode it a couple times while I was there. It only broke down once. The ride has no working lights though. Overall, the ride looks very nice and is quite fun and relaxing. Just wish it didn't take 10+ minutes to load it. -Water Rides: Viking Voyager was really nice. Clean, clear, chlorinated water and got a lot more wet than I normally do. Fury of the Nile was disgusting. Green water and smelled like death. Monsoon was good. Clean water and got riders soaked! -Food Service: Garbage. Got to try the new LCs operated chicken shack. I really loved their food when I had it from their food truck last season. But this season, it's more expensive, less food, my burger was burnt and it took 40+ minutes to get our food. - Overall Ride operations: slow and no desire to do anything about it. - I do just want to mention while ride operations are slow, the ride operators are very nice and friendly this season. They would ask how your day was going and what your favorite ride is etc. quite a change from the usual groaning and moaning. I do see that Worlds of Fun has a huge potential to be something great, but problems like terrible food service and slow operations really dampen the experience. I just hope someone, someday, will get the hint to try and improve these. -Water rides : Viking Voyager was quite nice, clear, clean water and got
  18. Okay, thanks for the info. I definitely did not plan on taking it into the water park Also, the subjects in my photos are not people. It's normally just a close up on some twisted track or nerd shots etc. The only park's I've had problems at were Lakeside in Denver, SFOT, and Worlds of Fun, but other park's I've been to and asked before hand encouraged it. I planned a long time there for the exact reason you stated. I like to experience the whole park, not just ride the coasters and leave. I learned that lesson from visiting Lagoon last Saturday. The park was packed, but I absolutely fell in love with it and wish I had more time to experience the whole park. I do have a few other questions about this park I forgot to mention earlier. What's the best way to hit the park? Are there any rides that I'd want to do earlier or later in the day so I don't wait longer than I need to? Are there bins or places to put your stuff in ride stations or would we have to buy a locker? Are there any "hidden gem" attractions that I just can't miss? I'm really looking forward to my visit and all the info is helpful, thanks!
  19. Just a quick question before my first visit here in a couple weeks. Does holiday world have any rules or policies against DSLR cameras? We planned to have many days in the park so I had time to go around the park and get some photos. I know the obvious rule that I can't take it on rides. I just don't want to bring my camera if I can't use it and have to leave it at a hotel or in the car.
  20. So one last question before I head to the park next weekend. I was watching a video of Samurai, but I notice on it's sign it said 8 tickets. Is Lagoon a park where you pay per ride on top of park admission, or has that changed and they just haven't removed the sign?
  21. I'm one of many who also don't think it was all that rough. Sure, there was a jolt here and there that comes with age, but I found it much more re-rideable with those few jolts than Prowler is with its vibration of death. What got me the most with that ride is how violent the ending half of the ride is especially in the back few rows. I was getting thrown all over the place and hit the brakes completely dazed.
  22. Nope, I dislike Boomerangs, and 1984 was practically the Year of the Boomerang. Eli, thanks for the report. SDC is a great place, especially on slower days. I kind of like Boomerang coasters. But SDC is a fun park, not my favorite, but still great. It doesn't get super crowded often. It is only crazy during Spring Break, Memorial Day weekend, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Christmas time. One of my friend's mother who works in management there said that attendance is actually kind of lower than what Herschend would want throughout the year but they make up for it during the Christmas season, which I think is interesting. They seem to be greatly effected by travel holidays. The crowds tend to die out where there is little to no one in the park in the weeks right before a major holiday, especially the 4th of July. I had a photo, but i couldn't find it but it was about 3 in the afternoon and we were at fire in the hole looking up towards the large hill to get into that area, don't know if it has a name or not, but there was not a single person in sight. It was the most awesome feeling, yet quite eerie, as i'm not used to seeing crowds so low.
  23. That is so annoying. I try to be as understanding as I can when it comes to Ride ops jobs, but situations like this, or unprofessionalism is something I don't have patience for. It seems there is never any effort to improve these operations. At prowler during my last visit, the whole ride crew was finished checking their sections of the trains but was waiting on one to finish and she was taking her time to do so. The crew kept telling her to go faster but every time they would say that she said "don't tell me to go faster". I get safety is number one priority, but ride operations this year aren't showing safety, there showing incompetence.
  24. I've never had the cinny bread before so I decided to try this out. They said they only mark the bread down on evenings where the park is going to be closed the next day, so I ended up paying full price at 5:30p. for cold bread. I can only assume that this means if you buy your bread first thing in the morning, you're actually eating yesterday's bread instead of fresh. When i visit for a couple days in a row, i usually have cinnamon for breakfast before the park actually opens. I can assure you that's not the case because every time i had the bread in the morning it was warm, fresh, cinnamon goodness.
  25. They did mention they were going with another former manufacturer as well. It could very well be Intamin, but I feel it's more likely to be Gerstlaurer. I think Kanonen would be a great ride for Worlds of Fun as it would fill the launch and looping gaps in the park. Though, I don't think it's likely to be going to Worlds of Fun. From what I read, it seemed like they would be going for brand new coasters, not relocations.
