  1. They couldn't get to it before the park opens. They might finish it during the season.
  2. Exciting to see the train on the track Testing should begin soon, yes?
  3. I was thinking of starting out on Friday with Blue Fire/Wodan and making my way back to Silver Star one coaster at a time (plus the Log Flume). If I could get all that done by noon that would be great.
  4. They've made some excellent progress on Kärnan's themening in the past few weeks. Much of the wall surrounding the building is now complete. The loading area is almost complete with themening in place. The entry stairwell. Wonder what the screen there is supposed to be for? A lantern was later attached to the ceiling. More themening. Apparently the castle will be an archeological excavation site and the boxes are said to contain numerous artifacts. The exit/gift shop is taking shape. More wall themening. Torre Del Mar's machinery is coming down. Foundations for Hanse-Flieger are being laid. Sources: Kärnan.de Coasterfriends
  5. I've finally booked my EP trip, arriving to Rust on June 2nd (Thursday) before going on Friday and Saturday before departing on Sunday. The hotel I'm staying at was fully booked the following week so I had to move my trip up a few days. So now I have to ask: how do the crowds look on a Friday and Saturday in early June? I saw on their calendar that the park is open until at least 7:30 P.M on June 4th (Saturday), so I'm assuming they're expecting at least some crowds that day.
  6. The last remaining version of the original Star Tours closed down yesterday. http://www.endorexpress.net/2016/03/final-boarding-call-for-the-endor-express/ I believe they confirmed that Star Tours 2 was coming next March. Here's a video of the closing ceremony (all in French):
  7. Rip Ride Rockit has to have the only line where I was ready to just give up and leave because it was that horrible. The coaster itself wasn't that great either so it definitely wasn't worth the wait.
  8. Found a construction shot of the new kiddie coaster in the Ireland area.
  9. Torre Del Mar is finally coming down, just a week before the park opens.
  10. Still "summer 2016" for both projects, but late May/early June looks plausible especially since Kong has been testing since a few weeks back.
  11. The entire left side of the park with the exception of Wuze Town is still kinda stuck in the 80s/90s when it comes to rides and theming, so I think it's smart to do away with it now that the rest of the park is already modern and high-class. They can't really build another Taron back there due to the proximity to the residential areas but a slate of more modern dark rides could go a long way.
  12. That would be up to whoever owns the ride at that point, since besides the ferris wheel the rides at Prater aren't actually owned by the park but by individual companies (hence how they can have place Olympia Looping there temporarily).
  13. I'm researching for my trip to Phantasialand + Europa Park on the second week of June and I'm already running into obstacles. The hotel I'm looking at is already fully booked on the 8th so I had to push back my arrival to Rust by at least one day (the original plan was to go PL Monday and Tuesday, then take the night train to EP and go Wednesday and Thursday). I don't really want to book until I get confirmation on when Taron at PL opens but by that point there might not even be a single place in Rust left. And no, I don't have the budget to stay at the resort hotels, especially since they don't even include park tickets in the room fare. They really need a cheaper option now that Rolando's closed down.
  14. I remember this because it was right across the street from our hotel (the Park Hyatt) and I took a good look at it every time I stared out the window. Tbh it's kind of a surprise it lasted this long considering even back then (2007) I never saw anyone enter the park for the whole week we were there. Good thing I went to Wild Wadi instead (which kicked some serious butt).
  15. There's rumors about Diagon Alley being coped over to Japan which would fit into the space BTTF and Backdraft occupies (unless the plan is for it to take over Jaws like it did in Orlando )
  16. I thought so at first, but looking at satellite images and what's said in the text it's actually being placed near the park entrance north of Space Fantasy.
  17. I think people are overestimating how high KK would be on Six Flags' priority list if they still kept the park. This is the chain that removed the park's star attraction for a water park expansion (that never happened anyway but whatever) and left Twisted Twins to rot for two years. They would have more likely just torn TT down before they even thought of giving it the RMC treatment.
  18. As recent as 2001 even. Just before Arrow went bankrupt.
  19. Actually the current rumor is that the Nintendo area will claim BttF and Backdraft's spot since removing them opens up a lot of space in the south corner of the park.
  20. Stratosphere Tower was going to have an Arrow-built coaster that would have dropped right out of the tower and gone up a 415-foot tower across the Las Vegas Boulevard. It was never built due to complaints from neighboring properties. If built it would have been the tallest coaster in the world by a long distance and would have likely kept that record to this day. The second tower alone is as tall as Dragster.
  21. Update on Kärnan's indoor theming: Sources: HAPA-forum Kärnan.de
  22. If they're only taking from the operation/entertainment side of the parks and not future attraction budgets then the cutbacks likely won't affect too much down the road. Can they get SHDL up and running the money stream should even itself out again. Unless SHDL is DLP 2.0 which is probably the last thing Disney wants right now.
  23. Yes, locals were very much against Disney's America and felt that park would ruin the "historic" character of the Bull Run battlefield and the town of Manassas. Of course, now the area is covered with housing developments, suburban strip malls, and Cracker Barrel restaurants. Oh, well . . . To be fair given the spectacular mess that was Disney's internal management in the mid- to late 90s (that led to the infamous Eisner micromanagement at the turn of the millennium) it's entirely possible that DA would have been cancelled even without the local opposition. Both WestCot and Port Disney were canned around the same time.
  24. The coaster itself is likely what takes the least time to build out of all the infrastructure in the area.
