  1. I would definitely give it a shot sometime Wally. It definitley tasted different than most other brown ales I've had. It was actually closer to a porter taste than a brown ale.
  2. Man, I've had a bottle of Delirium sitting in the fridge for awhile now. I think it may be finally time to break that out this weekend. Last night was Friday night and I don't have to work today, which meant that it was big beer night in the Rhoads household. Tried something new from one of my favs, Bear Republic. The Pete Brown's Tribute Ale. Much like all of the others I've had from them, it seems like they take a style and just jack it up a level. This one was both malty and hoppy with a bitter finish. A little unusual for a brown ale but I dug it! The Bear Republic Pete Brown's Tribute Ale. Thanks Bear Republic. And thank you Pete Brown!
  3. Tried a new company tonight. The Toasted Lager from the Bluepoint Brewing Company. What's a toasted lager you ask? Beats the heck out of me. Tasted pretty much like a normal lager to me. The Bluepoint Brewing Company Toasted Lager. Decent but had a little too much of a watery finish.
  4. Jumped on the pale ale wagon tonight and dipped into the aforementioned Lancaster Brewing Company Amish Four Grain. Decent pale ale and it's brewed not too far away. The Amish Four Grain. Thanks again Derek!
  5. Thats funny, we both nearly posted that at the same time. I read an interview with Phil Keoghan, where he claimed that Lake's antics will rival that of the legendary Jonathan from season 6. That's pretty bad if you ask me. We'll have to see if it actually happens.
  6. I think he was referring to Lake, the dentist.
  7. That looks good man. A buddy of mine has been working on the same thing now for the last couple of years. He bought a used cabinet for it some time ago but still hasn't finished it. Every once in a while he'll tell me how he's going to start working on it again but it never happens. Glad to see you saw it though!
  8. This race looks like it's going to be pretty solid. Especially after the crappiness of the Family Edition. This one looks like it has a pretty good mix of teams, although I don't have any favorites yet. I'm sure that will change as the race goes on. I will say that for the first episode at least, the "hippies and geeks" did a pretty darn good job.
  9. I think you'll find that pretty much all of the Great Divide staple beers are the same way. Solid but unexceptional. Unfortunately, when you pay upwards of $40 for a mix case, you just expect something more than solid. Now their big beers that I've had (the double IPA & stout) are a totally different story. They're worth every penny. Last night was Amazing Race premeire night so I splurged and broke into two beers tonight. Courtesy of Derek this past weekend, I tried the Brooklyn Lager and got reaquainted with the Three Floyds Alpha King. The Three Floyds Alpha King pale ale. One of the best out there. Nice smooth blend of hops, citrus, and spices. Yum! The Brooklyn Lager. I was surprised by this one. It had some faint hoppiness to it that I really enjoyed.
  10. Wow, talk about a party foul! Noooooooooo!
  11. It's nice to see that your back to your liver abusing ways again Derek. I'm going to have to try that Sticken-Jab soon Adam. That looks good. Tried my first beer from the Harpoon Brewery tonight. The Hibernian Irish Red. This was a decent amber ale. Reminded me a little of Killians. Has anyone else had anything from Harpoon? I was thinking about picking up a mix pack down the road and was wondering if their other beers were worth it? The Harpoon Hibernian Irish Red.
  12. Yeah, obviously a fan made effort. Has anyone else seen the photoshopped poster the person did showing off what some people wished the new Spidersuit looked like. http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=22584 I dig the old school look but I respect the fact the the new movies have always tweaked the looks from the comics to mostly decent results.
  13. Thanks for the Birthday wishes Wally! I can't believe I've been legal for 10 years now. Time flies when your drinking good beers. Well to celebrate, tonight I dipped into something I've been wanting to try for awhile now. The Three Floyds Dreadnaught Imperial IPA. This is considered by many as a top ten beer in the world as well as one of, if not thee best IPA brewed on the planet. Being the hop head that I am, I had to give this a try. And I'm pleased to say that it definitely lived up to the hype for the most part. I had heard from some that it wasn't as hoppy as some of the other top IPAs out there but I found this to be not true. This thing had a fairly monstrous hop bite to it with excellent accents of citrus and sweetness. My taste buds are still tingling as I write this. It also had a very pleasing citrusy aroma that I rather enjoyed. It just had a great blend of everything that makes for a great IPA. All in all, I felt that this was definitley a top IPA. How much better than some of the other recent ones I've really enjoyed, like the Great Divide Hercules and Stone Ruination is probably debatable. My only real knock on it is the price. At $10 for a 22 oz bomber it is nearly double that of the other ones I mentioned. If your a hop head though, I would say that you need to cough up the bucks and definitely give this one a try. I have to go with the big thumbs up for this one and buy into the hype. Definitely a top brew! The Three Floyds Dreadnaught Imperial IPA. A serious, serious, IPA.
  14. I don't mind the Twenty/First Look thing too much. It at least keeps you mildly entertained if you show up early. What pisses me off is being bombarded with those "You wouldn't steal a dvd?" anti-piracy ads. They preach to you about not being a thief, after the fact that you just paid good money to sit there and see a movie. Yeesh!
  15. What can I say man? We had a great time. It was a blast hanging out with you, talking up some coasters and beer. I'm glad you finally made it to beer heaven. I'm still impressed by your Victory purchases. Derek and Heath ask "How the heck did it take us thing long to find this place?" Sucky Mapquest!
  16. I decided to dip back into the Copper Ale again tonight for a second look. This is supposed to similar to a German Alt (yes the same that Victory just released) and I would definitley agree with that. Nice combo of malt and hops. The thing is the Victory Alt is much more bold and aggressive in taste. I still think that the Copper Ale is decent for the style though. Just on a side note, I tried the Lager again tonight and it didn't really do it for me like it did last night. Rather plain. I must have really wanted a lager last night! The one thing I will say about Otter Creek is that for craft beers, the price is good, and they deliver a relible beer. Nothing too spectacular but nothing that I would find offensive either. I'm glad to see that they are starting to release some more styles though. The Otter Creek Copper Ale. Decent but I'm ready for a real Alt on Saturday!
  17. Yeah, the Otter Creek stuff I've had so far is pretty solid Wally. I have some of their Copper Ale in the fridge that I'll probably put up soon. My local place just got in some of their new ESB as well, so I'm looking forward to trying that.
  18. Thanks for the kind words about the BTR everyone. I knew that the Victory lovers on here would appreciate it. I noticed that the beer fridge has been lacking a good lager lately and I've been wanting to try more of the Otter Creek staple beers, so I picked up some of their Vermont Lager. This is a lager in the truest sense and was just what I was looking for. The Otter Creek Vermont Lager.
  19. Last couple of pics. See you in 2016 for the 20th Anniversary. Cheers and Happy Birthday Victory! After the event, they gave out the leftover beer, so I scored a free St. Victorious Doppelbock. Unfortunately, we had to vacate our table before the third and final challenge took place. Bill and Ron took part in the next challenge, involving the contestants racing to bring them tankards of beer while trying to wear a hula skirt at the same time.
  20. Wow, I'm finally getting around to posting this. So my buddy Greg came up from in SC to visit over the holiday weekend. He's a beer drinker as well, so we thought it would be cool to head over to Victory Brewing on Saturday to check out the second night of the Victory 10 Years New party that was going on. Storm King break! ....and then identify the beers as quickly as possible. The first event involved the contestants having to pick up sample glasses of beer with just their mouths.... Saturday night was the Woman's Beerathlon. What was cool was that they set up the festivities right in front of our table. Naturally, I had to help him finish it. Greg decided to order a bottle of V Saison. I was feeling a little German, so I went with a Mad King's Weiss and a bratwurst with kraut. Myself and my two favorite things. Kim and a Hopdevil. ...along with a big screen playing Victory history footage along with live footage that they were shooting for a new doc. The party was in full swing with music... We finally got seated for some food. The Ten Years Alt was awesome! Nice hop beginning with a fine malt finish at the end. Group Cheers! ...but they eventually got it going. At 5:00, they tapped the Ten Years Alt. Unfortunately Victory co-founder Ron took a bath doing so... Seriously, one of the greatest things you will ever see. Aaaaahhhhhhh. *drool* They had the special release Ten Year Alt on sale. Unfortunately, I never was able to pick up a six pack on the way out. May have to remedy that this weekend. at the Victory merch shop, where you can get everything Victory. The party started at 5 pm but naturally the place was allready packed at 4:30. We had an hour wait for a table so we thought we would kill some time.... It's time to party! The Victory Ten Years New Party, that is. Victory Brewing in Downingtown, PA.
  21. My official count puts me as a "Coastermeister" at 414, not including powered or relocated. Hopefully I should be able to get over 500 sometime this summer.
  22. That's probably why they replaced the Bavarian Lager with the Dreamweaver Wheat in their variety packs. I always thought it was just OK. Pretty much everything in their rotation is really good to outstanding now.
  23. Tried the Titan IPA from Great Divide tonight. Not too bad. Could have been a little hoppier. The Titan IPA from Great Divide Brewing.
  24. Heh, that's why I post in here. To get idea's from other beer drinkers on what to try next. I really dig the Heayweight beers. They brew some really unique stuff to say the least. So far from them, I've had the Lunacy, Cinderbock, and Perkuno's Hammer. I'm hoping to try the Stikenjab and Baltus as well sometime soon. My local place also got the Old Salty in but I'm not a huge fan of barley wines. As for the Nugget Nectar Vs. Hop Wallop, the jury is still out. I need to try a few more of the Nectar's to give it a fair comparison. As for tonight's selection, I went with the Troegs Oatmeal Stout. I really ejoyed this one at the brewery and it was darn tasty out of the bottle as well. This is what I would call a rather "drinkable" stout compared to some other locals like Victory Storm King and Stoudts Fat Dog, witch can put a whooping on your tast buds if you aren't ready for it. This one is very smooth with a creamy, coffee taste. The Troegs Oatmeal Stout. Yet another great offering from the Trogner Bros.
  25. I saw this vid a couple of days ago and didn't even notice the person being ejected. I must have thought they were a piece of debris or something. Wow, that's pretty graphic!
