  1. I wonder if there will be enough speed to get a little pop going up the double ups?
  2. yeah, some of that concrete stuff can go very fast. even Carowinds entire entrance seemed to be nothing, then done all of a sudden. Lots of work still seems to be needed at Cedar Point, and boom, it will be done in a month. so, i think they can finish everything even though it might seem the coaster is way ahead of the rest right now.
  3. mid to late 90's era is the last i can remember Colossus racing, or, at least using both sides simultaneously.
  4. it looks like it just goes up the double up, banks out, then down halfway to the brake. like a short version of the video. that green side is tiny. we'll have to see if it does anything depending on how much energy is left at the end.
  5. it's hard to tell from all the pics i've seen from today, but it just seems like it will be really small because of the block brake. the drop after the outward bank is what i WAS looking most forward to. but the rest of the ride looks phenomenal. getting excited.
  6. unfortunately, this will probably be true. most of the reason i believe is slow employees. the other, is the GP. what will help is that i believe the trains will get to the station faster off the brakes than say, yolo. 2 train operation there is like 1.25 trains since it takes so long for the train to get off the brakes and back to the station.
  7. Can you link where thy said this? I'm not doubting you, but that was the impression I gathered from when the details were coming out, and considering this ride will have upwards of 6-7 blocks. i've seen/heard this as well. what i've never remember seeing is that TC is meant to run 4 train operation.
  8. i used to love viper. did some marathoning on it back when the park was daily thru september and you'd fine more people at costco before they opened. those were the days. i know i did like 57 rides in 4 hours or so. got off once to go pee. lol anyway, i can't take much of viper these days. vortex about killed my back this past summer. lol i just wanted the on ride photo since i had bought the day pass. so, either the rides aren't aging well, or i'm not aging well. probably a combination of both. haha
  9. Kind of a cool time we live in when we think a 180 foot drop is short TC looks great though! Wish I could get out there to ride it within the next few years but I doubt that will happen. yeah, that did come out wrong. i did mean track length, not drop height.
  10. i'm guessing you mean the blue drop under the top gun? that should be awesome. my guess is your estimation of a couple hundred feet of track is a little short if that's what you're talking about. i loved SFGAm's Goliath, even as short as it is. that drop is awesome.
  11. the mid course brake basically either almost stops the train, or does stop the train now. so the end twisty area isn't as intense as it was when it opened. i'd say it still has some pretty decent positive g forces, but not like it once had.
  12. Legend has it MM approached B&M first but B&M I think either wanted too much money and/or didn't feel comfortable at the time building so high. Either way I don't see how B&M could've done much more with Goliath given the relatively small space it was put in. I agree. If you want to take a look at what B&M could have done, all you need to do is take a trip to SFGAm and visit their local hyper. Raging Bull is a great ride. Love the first drop with the pre drop to get some speed. Those comfy B&M seats, really fun ride. I like Goliath, but hate what they've done to it with the mid course.
  13. i'd love a giga, but has six flags spent anywhere near the amount on one coaster anytime recently?
  14. i really think those revolution restraints hurt more people than any safety they might do.
  15. sometimes, those events are packed. last one i went to was. gave you a wristband for after hours. not like anyone was checking cause when i went it was cold and everyone had jackets on. i believe the buffet isn't included. you need to purchase it. the wording is just means you can't buy it when you're already there. so to me, it's a crap shoot how busy it will be. i also saw the promotion. i think it was a goupbuy special event.
  16. I think that just varies greatly depending on the wood obviously. in one of the videos, they are talking about needing to replace a lot of the wood on the lift hill anyway. then, the different elements might need different bracing, so that of course would be new. Wood doesn't really have a useful life. There are 200 year old original wood homes still standing. They said some of the lift hill wood was badly damaged by chain grease so it needed to be replaced. If the other wood doesn't show signs of insect damage, fungus, rot, or splitting; it could last another 100 years. It all depends on how well it maintained in the first place. in one of the videos Bruce Thompson, project manager, said, that they were going to have to replace a lot of wood on the lift hill because of "significant structural defects". the wood was "getting to the end of their life span". i wonder how many of those 200 year old wood homes have supported a moving roller coaster with grease and crap rolling on it for 30 plus years? haha

  18. it is, it doesn't look the same in other photos.
  19. Even in this image, the airtime hill looks a lot flatter than the actual track in the construction pic guess cause i've been looking at every pic posted. that one you showed is like the double down pic. makes the angle look more than it really is.
  20. Many employees at SFMM travel and use all the bus systems to get to SFMM. I know of workers from San Pedro, Arcadia, No Hollywood, and of course the Antelope Valley. So it must be doable. that must be a rotten commute from San Pedro all the way there. only place i've ever even attempted to use a bus in a foreign area to me was in Hawaii, but i wasn't exactly going far. just trying to get to the mall. anyway, depending on heat and schedule, i'm always up for a magic mountain day.
  21. the only real deviation i see is the block brake. the double down has a minor twist, but nothing major.
  22. Not a change! This is the bottom hill in the Top Gun Stall, the green track will be upside down over this hill. It looks like this in the animation. i didn't even notice how high the blue side went up on the hill. guess i've been paying attention to the green side every time i watch the video. lol
