  1. Bravo to the administrators. They've done such a great job in keeping the park open, trying to keep as many members of staff in a job and even improving the park by repainting. Mellors seems like the perfect fit, too, so I think this is great news!
  2. What an amazing video! That shot where they fly towards Ferrari World from behind Shambhala across PortAventura was amazing!
  3. I wish I was a freakishly tall four year old (approx 1.4m) so I could go on every ride twice.
  4. You're right, it is expensive. There are normally buy one get one free offers available in the UK, and sometimes 50% off offers too, so maybe see if you can track some of those down before you completely write it off. If you're looking for something better value in the UK, Blackpool Pleasure Beach is cheaper and their coasters are far more unique. A lot of people seem to forget there are non-Merlin parks in the UK.
  5. I notice they say "full 2016 lineup" as opposed to "full lineup" - does that mean their 2016 lineup doesn't include Hex, or am I being a crazy cynic?!
  6. Yeah, I don't mind the Galactica thing, but I'm not excited about it really, but seeing Nemmie looking great, all the food outlets getting repainted and everything getting cleaned up, it makes me really happy I don't think they've repainted Air/Galactica but I think they've jetwashed the track so it probably looks a lot better. I'm a bit surprised they didn't repaint it in a different colour just to emphasise the fact it's a "different" ride though.
  7. Thank you for posting the pictures, and for the descriptions. Tobi's illustrations are really useful for deciphering what's going on and makes the layout of the area really clear and easy to understand and helps to fill in the gaps while we wait for new construction photos. He/she is really skilled!
  8. Oh it's looking amazing! The station looks brilliant too. Am I the only person who is more excited about the TLC project than Galactica? So many things are getting a much needed facelift.
  9. Thanks for the update. I only visited last year (and LOVED it) so can't wait to revisit for this as their dark rides are just brilliant and are of Disney standard in my opinion. Can I check this is going right the middle of the hub area which used to have the fountain and sometimes had a temporary stage? If so, this will be such a great place for the ride.
  10. Oh yes, I totally missed that! I always call it Nemmy so I didn't even notice
  11. Oh haha, thanks for clarifying, glad I made my excuses already
  12. That human isn't Roland Mack is it? I'm only on a mobile so can't really tell.
  13. I think it's going to be pretty much the jeep things as we've seen in the artwork, but will probably be guided by GPS similar to some of the trackless ride systems in the world. It'll be interesting to see if they're 'driven' by any cast members though. I think they might already be testing the vehicles as a couple of sites including Mako Madness have shown tyre tracks on the pathway leading into the building. They seem a bit too perfectly formed to be construction vehicles.
  14. Thanks for all the coverage Dubaidave, I'm moving to Dubai for a few months this year and am really excited to go on Flying Aces, so thanks for feeding my excitement. I hope you had a good day, and thanks for the video.... the layout looks a lot of fun! If it's got airtime like Skyrush, even better, but some of those turns and inversions look fantastic and the whole flow of the coaster and the pacing look great. It looks like it's a perfect companion to Formula Rossa and with the SFX coaster I think the park will have three brilliant coasters.
  15. Honestly I think it might stop me from going, but if that's the price they want to charge, and they think people will pay it, then that's their prerogative. I've been on TTD and Kingda Ka, so the coaster isn't a huge draw for me, but that won't be the case for a LOT of Port Aventura visitors. I guess PA have had to pay a pretty princely sum to use the Ferrari branding so the high charge is to bankroll that and probably part of their agreement with Ferrari in that they get a certain percentage or something like that. I bet the park will have a great first year because of the name, and of course the huge coaster, but I think the park will have to invest heavily to maintain people's attention once they realise it's not a full day park.
  16. Sorry if this sounds rude, it's not meant to be, but you've asked people not to make a judgement, but only after making a judgement yourself. People have managed to wriggle out of overhead restraints before and died, so we can't really rule anything out. Like you say, maybe it's a lost in translation thing, but the only thing we really know is that we don't really know anything. Anything else is just speculation at the moment.
  17. I don't really fancy watching the video, but I assume it was some kind of rip-off of a Fabbri type ride rather than a legit Huss version? Accidents like this are horrible, particularly if people saw it. Fortunately it just reminds us how rare accidents like this are, even in China.
  18. It's pretty hard to judge a coaster and how forceful it is from videos, plus who knows, they might have different wheel compounds on etc. I'm certainly not going to make a judgement on this coaster quite yet
  19. Thank you for clarifying, and apologies if I missed that elsewhere in the thread
  20. I'd be really happy with a Soarin' style ride! I wonder if this would be a Mack version or not? I assume it will be as they really seem to be pushing new products lately with the new Walibi rides. I also would be really happy to see Europa strengthen their dark ride collection as Arthur is the only one there that I feel is really world class (unless I'm totally missing one?!).
  21. The press release said "the ride will be accompanied by a sound track with musical elements that change as the ride goes through different areas" which some people thought could be onboard, but others suggested would be from speakers around the ride, so I think it will be a bit like Swarm at Thorpe Park where sound effects/music can be cued by the ride going past sensors, presumably during the final sequence where the ride goes over the pathway near the lagoon
  22. Just to clarify, Wing Coaster is Intamin's name for Skyrush style coasters where some seats are out over the side. Wing Rider is Intamin's name for coasters like Furious Baco where all seats are out over the side
  23. I think I'm happy it's not a spinner, and it's hard to explain why, but I think the effect of the extreme angle of the first drop and the top hat turn thingy would have been lost it the train was spinning.
  24. I think it's just protective film like you'd get on a new smartphone screen
  25. Haha well done gerstlaueringvar, although I'm proud that I mentioned the Skyrush similarity too and you can't take that away from me Thanks Dave Id, I'll be so happy if that's the case! The CGI mockup a couple of pages ago LOOKED like it had a vest to me, but it might have just been a fan-made version based on Walibi's snapchat post
