Weird. When I was there in August I got assigned a seat on Mystery Mine even though the train had empty seats upon dispatch. That is strange. I've never been told to sit in a certain seat on any roller coaster at Dollywood. Mystery Mine has always assigned a row since I moved out here. Other than that I've never been told where to sit, and of course Barnstormer has always assigned a tower but you got to choose your seat and which direction you faced.

That's how Six Flags Great Adventure operates with Kingda Ka and El Toro, easily their 2 most popular coasters. They just hold the line and let a few dozen people in the station at at time. No assigned seats, your choice.

I hope so. I cant remember Dollywood ever assigning seating on even the busiest of days and I've never seen parks that don't assign seating every have major issues because of it. Now if only a certain 2 parks both 4 hours away from Dollywood would take a lesson and STOP ASSIGNING SEATS ON B&M HYPER AND GIGA COASTERS COUGH COUGH CAROWINDS AND SFOG COUGH COUGH!!! Disney assigns seats on every coaster and never has an issue with it.....I don't see what the big deal is. But you can usually request to wait for a certain seat, I do all the time when down there. I don't have an issue with assigning seats, either--especially if you can request a certain seat and don't mind waiting a few extra minutes for it. Perhaps I should revise. I wouldn't mind assigning seats if I had a choice to wait longer if I wanted. I don't like that at these parks I don't get a choice. If you ask the people working Fury if you can wait for a specific row they look at you like you're from mars before sternly saying no and rushing you to whatever row they choose for you.

SFOG has some rides that I really don't care that they assign seats like DDD but when they tell me where to sit on Superman, Goliath, and Batman it gets under my skin. This is the primary reason I don't wait for Superman or Batman anymore. I'll only ride if its raining/empty because they only let me choose my row when its a walk on. Carowinds is the WORST About this. I can't begin to tell you how many time I've walked on on Fury and they assign rows with a half empty train. Hershey park does this with Skyrush too.

If you're okay being told to sit in the middle all the time more power to you, I don't like not having the option to wait for the very front or very back. I don't care to ride in the middle I'd rather wait the extra 15 minutes and get the most intense experience possible.

It would be close between Storm Chaser and Joker if SC didn't have that unfortunate ending. That is my exact reason why I think the Joker looks like a stronger ride. It just carries its momentum much better.

I'd have to disagree (if we're going on looks alone, Lightning Rod will be my first RMC so I really havent even earned an opinion yet) and say the list goes Wildfire, Lightning Rod, Joker, Storm Chaser.

I honestly am stilly hyped for Joker. I think it looks wild. It's the second weakest looking RMC this year (which being the worst of the best is still amazing) but to me it looks better than some of the other RMCs and I think it will be an intense thrilling ride.

Considering how quiet they have been in an attempt to avoid public outcry, I wouldn't count on it until we get an official hard open. However, I'm sure they've already filmed it as well as some of their local news filming has already been done.

The site alert has been updated 'The Lightning Rod roller coaster is now in technical ride rehearsal. The ride may be subject to temporary closure or delays from time to time.' Glad to see people riding it, booked to go again in 3 weeks!!!

It's funny here and there, but theres literally 2 pages straight of nothing but #itllneveropen so its sorta worn itself dry on me.

I just watched the old and new pov side by side, they seem exactly the same.

I tried not to bust out laughing at this I swear. I always forget it's next to a lake because the only rides I can see the lake from are Zuminjaro and Nitro, other than that you'd never guess it was next to such a big beautiful lake!

All jokes aside if they're still having these launch issues at what point do they just give up and go to a new subcontractor? Velocity Magnetics clearly wasn't up to the task and this world class ride is now 2 months delayed and if the main issue still persists its looking like it could be several more weeks before it opens up. I'm gutted for Dollywood and RMC at this point, this must be agony for PR. Magnetic launches are not new technology. Should have bought a MACK? Still just as excited to ride as when the ride was first announced, and I will for sure be there as soon as we get an official opening date, but I feel extra bad for people who live super far from the park.
