  1. I'm pretty sure there was a sign out in front of the ride that said something about "seasonal maintenance." Plus, I mean the ride doesn't get great ridership anyways so my theory is that Dollywood is saving money with it being closed for a few months. They keep it closed during spring when not many people ride it, then they open it up during the summer when they need extra capacity.
  2. Because who doesn't like watching old people bust a move?
  3. I really wonder why Dollywood chose to go with Velocity Magnetics knowing they had never made a launch before.
  4. Dollywood must be really crowded this week. I saw waits of 80 minutes for Firechaser and 45 minutes for Thunderhead. I have never seen waits that high at Dollywood.
  5. Dollywood doesn't sell alcohol...
  6. ^^But did it though? I think a lot of people will still come being that it is spring break for some schools.
  7. Considering it is supposed to snow Sunday, I'm not sure many coasters will be open then either.
  8. Does anyone think Dollywood will release a statement? If not, how do you think the GP will respond Friday/Saturday?
  9. Here is the early entry schedule for the next 2 Saturdays.
  10. Unless you REALLY like country music, I would skip Nashville. It's about a 3.5 hour drive from Dollywood and you would have to backtrack a little to get to SFOG. If you do happen to go to Nashville, stay at Gaylord Opryland and go to a showing of the Grand Ole Opry. As for shopping, the Tanger Outlets are very very close to Dollywood and has just about anything you are looking for from golf clubs to clothes. As for the GSMNP, I would reccomend a drive around Cades Cove and there are places you can park and hike around the loop. If looking for something a little more scenic, you can drive about 1.5 hours to Bryson City, NC and hike to Clingmans Dome. If your path from Dollywood or Nashville does take you through Chattanooga, do stop at Lake Winnie and also check out the aquarium. It's one of my favorites. You say you have seen everything in DC but here are some lesser known attractions/Museums that might interest you: the Newseum, The National Museum of Crime and Punishment, The National Spy Museum, The Postal Museum (located at Union Station), and The Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles Airport. Also be sure to check out the baby panda that was just born at the zoo! While not technically in DC, Gettysburg Battlefield is just and hour away and well worth the drive; it is a day trip though.
  11. My favorite is all of the music from Disney World's Space mountain. I could stand in the queue for hours. Also the EPCOT entrance music is some of my favorite.
  12. Thunderhead at Dollywood was innovative because it was the first coaster with a station fly through. I love the headchopper element of it and the fact it gets riders amped up for the ride.
  13. I watched the Twitch stream that they did Friday and it looks like they are headed in the right direction. Although I still have yet to see anything on the management side of things.
  14. Gosh it was crowded today. Within an hour of opening nighthawk had a 2 hour line. Does anybody know why rip roaring Rapids always has a line backed up to the entrance, even at 11:30 today that's where the line was. Does the ride have a low capacity or is it just that popular?
  15. Sorry for the off topic question but if I buy a gold pass online, will I have to pay for parking the first time I go to the park to get it processed?
  16. I really enjoyed reading your TR! I've been to DC way to many time to count, so much so that I was a tour guide for my Boy Scout Troop. I wasn't too big of a fan of the Air and Space museum at Dulles. It was just a big hangar. I much prefer the one on the mall, but it is always so crowded. The National Postal Museum is always on my must do list, there is hardly anyone ever there and you can go down and get a hot dog in Union Station. Nice job staying next to a METRO station. It is definitely the best way to get around DC. I do hope I could make it to BGW someday. As a kid, our family always went to Colonial Williamsburg (which I really enjoyed!) but I could never persuade them to take me to BGW or the waterpark. CW isn't everybody's cup of tea, but I really enjoy learning, and it "brought history to life." We really enjoyed some of the shows and programming they offered there, we even went to a concert inside the governors mansion, it was so cool!
  17. When the weatherman says "SLC" you think he is talking about a roller coaster. Nope just Scary Looking Clouds...
  18. That's sad you had to rush through Dollywood. Taking your time is really the best way to experience the park.
  19. Europa Park Toverland Silver Dollar City Knotts Berry Farm Aquatica All of the Schlitterbahns Tokyo Disneyland/Disney Sea Hong Kong Disneyland Indiana Beach Fun Spot Holiday World and Splashin' Safari Efteling Gilroy Gardens Kennywood Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure
  20. One of your friends posts on Facebook for your birthday "Hope your birthday is more exciting than any coaster you've ever ridden"
  21. Even though I'm closest to Carowinds, I consider Dollywood my local park. I generally go 4 times a year for Festival of Nations, Great American Summer, Harvest Festival and then for Smokey Mountain Christmas.
  22. Hey guys! Our family is planning a trip to Orlando and I was wondering if ya'll had any experience with the Lynx buses. We cannot afford to stay on property but are looking at a hotel on Palm Court. Are the buses reliable and is it worth taking the bus in to Disney, rather than paying for parking? Thanks!
  23. Found this interesting tidbit today... I would much rather change its length.
