Was hoping for a bit of advice regarding fast passes etc. I'll be coming over from the UK to america oct 17th - 29th, and the current itinerary involves dorney park on 18th, hershey on 19th SFGA on 20th then doing Smithsonian stuff in Washington etc followed by Bush gardens Williamsburg on 25th, kings dominion on 26th and 6 flags america on 27th, heading back to the uk on the 28th I know that these parks will have their Halloween events on at this time, although I'm mostly visiting for the coasters. (as a doctor in the uk, getting time off at decent times of the year isn't that easy!). I was hoping the forum could advise which parks fast/flash/etc passes would be essential for. any other tips for the trip are appreciated too, I'm meeting a friend from Colorado for the trip too so most hotels and car hire things are booked already

coaster express at parque warner definitely is my roughest. runners up/notable mentions go to furious baco at portaventura and robin hood at walibi Holland I've ridden mean/blue streak and wild beast/mine buster and didnt think they were bad at all! after coaster express everything seems buttery smooth!

Europe with a non-coaster-geek?
medoman replied to FLIPDUDE's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
agree above, parque warner was good, the superman floorless is a great coaster and I enjoyed the giant inverted boomerang (the only one in europe) coaster express on the other hand........... parque de attracions was good, agree that tarantula is probably the best spinning coaster I've been on. When I went however it was early spring and the the intamin invert was not running and abismo would only run when there was a full train, so be aware of the season you visit in and not everything may be running. -

how about visiting Barcelona and portaventura?, its easily accessable by train from barcelona and shambala is a great coaster and its a decent park to go to Thorpe park is easy to get to from london and if your going to efteling then walibi holland may also be doable -

sorry rob to cause such horrendous offence! All im saying is nemesis sub terra opened before it was complete, smiler has faced delays in opening so its not beyond the realms of possibility that there is something more still to be added. There was a company involved with projection video mapping for the smiler that afaik hasn't appeared on the ride so far. Adding some sort of tunnel with various effects or video prokection while waiting for the lift doesn't seem like an impossibility to me flame away if you must...... -

has the smiler been confirmed as "finished" yet? I wouldn't be too surprised if something was added to the section before the vert lift. Remember what happened with sub-terra - there was a whole extra bit bolted on the outside after it had opened, I wouldnt be too surprised if they add a mid-show element here in the not too distant future -

if alton was ever to get a multi inverting coaster then it would realistically have to be 2 lift hills, (altho a lauch may have also sufficed) The planning restrictions mean that they are forced to stay below the treeline, which would make it very difficult to get anything more in. I've not watched the pov yet as i'm waiting til i ride it in a week or 2 for my first experience. Looking at the park as a whole it already has a fantastic invert, a launched coaster, flying coaster, 13 and mine train, a multi inverting ride makes most sense as the latest addition and rather build 2 separate coasters why not combine them both into one and cram it into a fun space scoring a record. -

make a trip of it and include thorpe park and some other uk places too, blackpool pleasure beach, flamingo land.... -

whats missing from thorpe imho is an airtime filled coaster, a B&M hypercoaster like shambala or behemoth, although i doubt the budget will stretch for something like that... but now its lost the record for most inversions, tallest coaster in the uk could a a viable goal -

also note the reference to submission, also in the x-sector, wonder if it'll get a lick of black and yellow paint
