  1. Me with a fellow enthusiast Drunk, mid-reggae dancing. Riding spinballl
  2. I've suffered abit of designers block lately =/. But over the past few months I've been drawn to doing floorless coaster layouts. It's alot harder than I thought to get it balanced, but yeah the past week or so I built this, and although I'm still constantly tweeking it, it's starting to make something I like. So Here's just a couple of pictures. Just remember I've not even done a full layout yet! So EVERYTHING is subject to change completely. I don't really have a theme in mind yet but I'm hoping something will come together eventually. Suggestion are very welcome.
  3. After some advice given to me, I spent a good few years getting into Mechanical Engineering. I've always wanted to work in the industry but I never knew how. After two years on the course I realised it wasn't my strength, I fell ill and developed anxiety! I struggled and eventually decided it was best for me to leave, it was very difficult as I assumed it was my only way to get involved in rollercoasters, and I felt I was throwing away the four years I spent redoing A-levels and a foundation year to get on the course. I feel I made the right decision though, as the course was really making me depressed. I'm happily working in the city now, although in retail. But nothings tying me down anymore, so I need to figure out what to do with my life. I'd love a job in the industry, I think it would be extremely niave to say I'd want to design rollercoasters, but to just be involved in how a park is run would be great. Need to figure out what step to take the next few months, daunting.
  4. If anyone's interested Coasters And More have done a fantastic article. It's not in English but the pictures are incredible.
  5. If you want proof that there was meant to be theming around the track, think this pretty much shows it. That along with all the press releases and adverts and artwork, even the park map shows it dropping into the mouth. Shame it never happened =(. Hopefully they'll do something, but as I said before, that would require downtime (which could mean refunded/free tickets for dissapointed guests) and money for the mouth alterations and additional construction. The loss in money may not equal the money they'd gain from doing it.
  6. It's not laziness! I mean they've spent alot of time and money on building this mouth. You have to remember this is a business, if spending the extra money on making a new one means they would make more money..great! but if not, what will they gain from doing it! It's not laziness it's common sense. If it's true that it was a miscalculation that lead to it not dropping into the mouth, that is sad, as I could've seen that working an absolute treat. It may be the reason we only saw it getting installed a few days before opening! But I'm kinda over it, and regardless I think the whole theme concept is fantastic. So a big thumbs up from me for everyone who worked on it. I can't wait to ride.
  7. This video shows off the ride really well and the reverse POV at the end really makes it look fun. Wish I could ride it this year!
  8. Another update from their facebook Google translated the caption but it's abit off I think I'm not entirely sure what it's supposed to say. Here's the German, I'm sure someone can translate it better!
  9. POV is now online for people without NL
  10. From their facebook The entrance (probably). Not sure what this photo is for though and who those people are. Looks like they've started enclosing the bottom of the drop.
  11. Will there be any way to comment on rides in the future? I think thats essential to help people develop their skills and encourage more uploads. Also, I've uploaded all the rides I've made over the past year http://themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/index.php?search_type=user&media_keywords=Richard
  12. Yeah, it also makes a great marketing ploy. "The most expensive ride..etc" That said, it's nice to see merlin forking out the cash for a few themed B&Ms.
  13. Couple more picture I'm still waiting to see a good shot of the back car to see any kind of scoop. This is clearly a middle/ front one as it has the walkway part attached to the back. Bit'o'theming.
  14. Background This is the little sister ride to The Red Dragon, taking inspiration from welsh mythology. The afanc was a monstrous creature that, like most lake monsters, was said to prey upon any foolish enough to fall into or swim in its lake. Said to dwell in the lake, Llyn Barfog in North Wales, it has been described as looking like a beaver, crocodile and a dwarf. Ride Design This Intamin mega-lite takes it's inspiration from the existing layout, but also the likes or Rita and Intimidator 305. It was an experiment in air-time, I wanted the riders to either be flying off their seats or being pummeled into them. The preserve the natural setting of the ride, it only has two visible poits from outside the ride area and the rest of the ride remains hidden. Notes You need trackpackager to ride This ride was created using Newton 2 Big thanks for Ed and Andre for testing. MOD Edit: You can find these tracks here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=1593 And Here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/game_exchange/track.php?id=1594
  15. Lil' teaser My computer's dying atm though, can't handle video editing very well.
  16. I think it's just Merlin! Every ride they've built in the past few years has been grey/dark/black. Saw, Thirteen, Krake Raptor, and even LC12 in Thorpe will be grey and dark green.
  17. I have the ride pretty much how I want it, still got a few things to do. I expect to upload it on Sunday February 20th For the time being, here's a couple of pictures. An overview of the ride The new cartextures
  18. I wonder if that green part under the corner before the second inversion will be the water splash!
  19. The ride has a logo I've also finished the basic supports, currently adding some flange.
  20. I love how the first drop/inversion dives inder a life size aeroplane wing
  21. I lost the entire ride with a computer crash last week! Luckily I still had the newton track file. But it meant starting again with just the track. It's been a little blessing in disguise though, I've rethought out the terrain and supports and I actually think it's looking better. I've almost done supporting now.
  22. I think if there is one, it'll be after the air-time hill/brakes. The banking is most like Manta's splash and it's close to the ground and in close to non riders. Also, the concept art shows it after that element.
  23. This ride will become the next in my "Creatures" series, which are based on mythical, fictional and real monsters. As a follow up to The Red Dragon, this little sister ride will take it's theme from a welsh legend of the Afanc(pronounced a-van-k), or Addanc (pronounced a-than-k). A creature that dwells in a lake and preys on anyone who enters it. It is describes as being a mix between a beaver, crocodile and dwarf. I've made progress on supporting (I over supported it an had to readjust the first half of the ride after carefully analyzing the real mega-lites), and I've also got a color I quite like. I've had to ditch a lot of ideas I had to begin with, but they were a little ambitious, and I want the ride to present in the right fashion, I really like the layout and I want to see it shine. Anyway, onto a screen. The logo/name aren't exactly finalised yet but I wanted to show some form of progress here. This is the s-bend after the first corner.
  24. That's too unreliable, censors won't always work and having a seat in the wrong position for an element could cause serious discomfort or injury! It would have to be mechanical. EDIT, oh yeah..
