  1. The second loop on the Vortex greys me out every time and then i can see again right before the track turns and smashes your head into the restraint. Fighter pilots hold their breath during hard G's, it keeps blood in the brain. It works on coasters too.
  2. They sure do have a thing for those Dinosaurs at Kings Island. I NEVER see people paying to see it. I did once see a corporate group going together and a few random little kids. I just don't see how it makes any money. Maybe it just me. /shrug
  3. Mod edit: Link removed
  4. King's Island is almost open! Any TPR members do Diamondback ERT on weekdays? I'll be there almost every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Would like to meet some of you! Late last season i met a gentleman who told me about TPR and we did 33 rides consecutive on Diamondback without leaving our seats! Don't remember his name but he showed me the ropes and got me to this club. If your on this forum, hello again!
  5. "On March 15, 2010, the General Manager of Kings Island, Greg Scheid, stated that the park had spent nearly $30 million on the ride 9Son of Beast) to date, and that it would not reopen for the 2010 season." as per wikipedia. 30 Million??!! Changing trains, removing loops, fixing poor supports. What a colossal disaster. Nothing but several lawsuits and an empty space in return for that money. The only cool thing about Son of Beast was that it was MASSIVE, a real presence at the park. I miss seeing its massive structure driving down I-71.
  6. I waited two YEARS to ride the Bat. Every time I went to KI as a kid i was greeted with the "Sorry, the Bat is not in operation today". It was so bad KI ran ads in the local newspapers listing the days it would be operating. I finally got 3 rides on the same day in 1983. Then they shut it down. I ride it on YouTube now.
  7. Son of Beast at King's Island. It was like being in a 3 minute car accident. I swear the lift hill clanking was designed to "pre-deafen" you so you couldn't hear the screams of pain from the other riders.
  8. Sweet! Looks I'm doing media day Thursday, Lake Erie Walleye fishing friday and opening day on Sat. This was a nice surprise indeed. Thanks Rob!
  9. I see all of you mentioning Big Bad Wolf (which i never rode). I prefer its Arrow prototype big brother...The BAT @Kings Island. It was out of control and so fun. Almost always closed. I am one of the few that got to ride it, I'm also old now.
  10. I pretty much already do. I can get out of bed and be at King's Island in 4 minutes. I'm usually on the Diamondback almost every weekday at 9:30 AM. It's basically the best way EVER to start your day.
  11. Let's also hope that it's not called "Grandson of Beast" or something retarded like that. Give it a menacing name. Make the crowds come because you offer something Cedar Point does NOT have. Kings Island used to be a real boundry pusher (See the Beast 1979) The Bat was an awesome prototype that failed. Son of Beast was a disaster. Here's to hoping they are not gun shy of pushing the limits because of past failures.
  12. While I guess King's Island already has their next coaster way into development at this point, heres to hoping they were talking with RMC about a woodie or Intamin about a Hyperlite. King's Island needs something no one has in the states (Hyperlite) or a new super woodie like RMC is debuting. Outlaw Run cost around 10 million. I would guess Cedar Fair has 20 to 25 million budgeted for the new KI coaster. Image a 5000ft terrain RMC woodie with 6 inversionsat the former Son of Beast site?? haha One can dream. The Intamin Hyperlite are pretty expensive, but with that budget KI could build a really super sweet one.
  13. Make me want to buy a plane ticket to Missouri. Will have to put on my to do list. Looks totally exciting, just a bit short for my liking....but thats no complaint. How fast does it go?
  14. Cedar Point is top notch. They seem as excited about Gatekeeper as we are. It's a beauty for sure.
  15. Mr Mitch Hawker needs someone with computer skills to make a better ballot. It's like a 9 yr old came up with it. Ease of use....zero. If he wants to be on top, he needs a top notch product, sorry.
  16. The Beast (Champion) @ Kings Island. Still making the top ten so many years later.
  17. I found a cool new report about Gatekeeper from WKYC in Ohio. Has more factory footage from Batavia and a park flyover via airplane. Check it out.... http://www.wkyc.com/news/article/277929/110/Cedar-Point-How-theyre-building-GateKeeper
  18. Wow! That video above wins the slowest lift hill ever! I bet they claim it has 4 minutes of ride time when 3 minutes and 20 seconds of it is lift hill.
  19. Hard to argue with Adventure Express and the Lift hill of Doom!
  20. Just wondering what coaster has the fastest lift hill? Was watching the i305 POV and that things HAULS up the lift hill.
  21. Fishing Lake Erie May 10th. Riding Gatekeeper opening day May 11th!
  22. Such a grande idea to have the entrance part of the coaster. Brilliant even. Looks soooo good.
  23. Anyone look at Son of Beast merchandise prices on eBay? Through the roof! It's like it's the Bat or something. Posters selling for $80 and pins going for $40! I'm glad i bought the bolt and piece of track package when King's Island offered them in super limited numbers. Wonder what it's worth?? I bet it can pull $1000 easily.
