Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Tropical7 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like the whole layout of the coaster, and now seeing the terrain begin to take shape it looks even better! I will agree, it will probably be better than the green brother of the North Shore. -

What makes a park grow?
Tropical7 replied to Coaster Curt's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A whole slew of things makes parks grow. First, the attractions, no park is complete without these, so when we see an addition, it makes new growth. Secondly, great prices, don't jack prices up too far, keep it fair, and worth the Tropical dollar! Third, note this is a personal thing, is the addition of a donkey, or donkey themed attraction, that gets large attendance, and growth! -

At least Great Bear had a concrete ravine it went into, Banshee doesn't! I like feet chopper effects, especially head choppers, but at the same time, when I see a coaster like this have this short clearance, I hope that the cars are high enough off the ground. Though, I know I won't loose a foot on Banshee so I'm happy, I want to see the tombstones soon! -
Poll: Favorite Inversion?
Tropical7 replied to timetrial3141592's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I voted on the corkscrew, but only for a few reasons. First, it is the inversion most used in RMC iron horse'd coasters, so it has a special place for me and my coasters. Secondly is that the corkscrew is different in that it can go over anything, like track or a rock, and make a "leap" effect on a coaster. See Flight of Fear at Kings Island, final inversion. -
Are We A Dying Breed?
Tropical7 replied to nhman93's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Coaster and park enthusiasts? No, in fact I've seen quite the opposite. I am active on a few sites, and just in the past few months a few of those "slow" sites have picked up with new members all over. Though, I would say that waterpark enthusiasts are semi a dying breed. I never hear anyone speak about waterparks in park discussions anymore. I always hear "Forget the waterpark, hit the coasters!" leaving me out for an hour or so to be at the waterparks. So, what used to be a good number is now in the lower 100's in my usual sites, though TPR, I do not know due to how I just came back after not posting for a while. -

What if Jurassic Park was real?
Tropical7 replied to PriestofSyrinx's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's like Dinosaurs Alive!, except for the real, living dinosaurs, and the sharp and pointy fences! -

That drop looks to short into the ground, and I believe someone may be thinking the same at Kings Island if they have that. Thanks for the photo! -
What if Jurassic Park was real?
Tropical7 replied to PriestofSyrinx's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Would I go? Probably, if it is anything like the area at Islands of Adventure, it would be very fun! Plus, it was a childhood love of mine, and I went to Dinosaur World once. Might I mention that was the best day of my childhood life. The price of it, I would keep it at a low $40's range, anywhere above that is far too much for my amusement park, interesting places budget. -
Burritos without a doubt, but not any burrito, a Chipotle burrito. Ironically, I just got back from Chipotle where I had a "veggie" burrito.

I'd rather not go forward with that notion. You already have a B&M invert roaring next to you, that wail would be a bad combination to my, and probably others, ears in that queue. I'm glad to see all of the progress for the park coming up, I hope that it looks better in person! -
Favorite Water Ride
Tropical7 replied to SFMM rocks my socks's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is actually a difficult question for me, so I'll do my best to filter it to certain criteria. For the best "boat ride" I would have to choose my childhood classic It's A Small World at WDW, that is only due to that it really has a good ring to me for nostalgia, though the eyes can be a bit creepy. Honorable mention would have to be Maelstrom at EPCOT, I love Norway, I love vikings, and I love Norse (Norsk), not to mention an interesting drop. Best "log flume" would be hands down Splash Mountain at WDW, a great film into an excellent ride, with no short supply of thrills and fun . Finally to the raft rides, ironically the White Water Rapids at Kings Island, it is a classic ride for me and I always have loved the ride, just not the smell. -

Hello Mr. Alvey, I have been inbetween on going to Dollywood or Cedar Point for 2014 and it has led to this question. I do want to go to Dollywood because of the selection of rides and the immersion I get while being in the theme park, as well I am highly into waterparks and the Dollywood waterpark would be a great place to get slide credits. With that, I have never been to Cedar Point, and I could gain many "major" coaster credits for my ranking, but at the same time, Soak City doesn't seem to be a great waterpark to visit. Any advice? Thanks! Tropical7

Anyone notice the Flight Deck queue getting some odd occurences? The old scene is now lifted up, could this be a revamp or a utter renovation to another theme? -

On the topic of KICentral, I have heard of a guy posting an idea of a donkey themed coaster. I really am at a loss for words on what to call the new coaster, an invert, a hyper, I just don't know. The way it looks the ride could be paranormal themed with all the teasers and props out, which could align with the Banshee theory. With that, a invert sounds like a geat coaster but then again a hyper could probably sit well in that area. Now the Intamin vs B&M deal, it seems like our B&M will keep it's place in Kings Island with the great successes of Diamondback and other coaster placed in a rather excellent post Paramount park, Canada's Wonderland. Overall, I would like to get a B&M invert for the area, it would fit rather nice with the terrain and the park itself. As long as I get an excellent coaster, I'm good! -
Hey Theme Park Review! I am Tropical7, and I have been on many other forums but I forgot my password for this one. I first learned of TPR in Disney World with many wearing TPR shirts, I lingered on this site till I joined. I am a water park enthusiast, as well I do like wooden coasters, and many steel coasters as well. I look forward to posting with you all here, and as well having a great time at the parks. May the donkeys be with you. Tropical

After going by a few weeks ago here are my thoughts. I-This place has a odd layout to be honest the walk way I feel just separates it. Although in my later analysis I will share more on what I feel is neccesary. II-The place is in dire need of restoration and I feel that our man Mr. Hart will be the "reclaimer". III-The space in the whole Kingdom just looks crammed and with a few "extractions" being made, I can see a much better KK. IV-If Mr. Hart could buy out existing areas around the Kingdom, I could see it becoming a very good competitor with the already present Holiday World just north of there. V-Whenever this place is back with the coasters in great condition, I could see it as a must do when it comes to visits in that region for moderate family thrills.
