  1. Fully agree with this. Its a shame theyre removing so much of the charm. I would have preferred they kept the existing entrance area and made the new entrance where the giant chocolate shop is. So, like, two entrances. Also interesting that theyre going for "year round" options but thats not reflected anywhere in the park itself. Maybe the next 5 new rides will all be indoor rides? That would allow them to copy what six flags great adventure has done with holiday in the park, where 1/3 of the park remains open longer because there are indoor options RE: Cost Maybe theyre spending a lot on flood management? Raising the grade of stuff is pricey
  2. 80 degrees in October... I think weather is the number 1 indicator for crowds
  3. I really enjoyed the acrobatic show in the theater (Unleashed I think?). The first showing was at capacity so either get their early or try a later one Blood Drums was fun too. Its just outside, standing, so you can watch a bit and leave if you like, zero time commitment. Aftermath was the best maze of the ones I went through. Hell Fest was the worst.
  4. Went to fright fest on Saturday. Had a good time. Feel free to direct any fright fest related questions my way. Hot tip: After 11pm, everything was a walk-on. Did 2 of the mazes in 10 minutes total. Diablo was a walk-on. Got in line for Toro at 11:55pm, empty station. Could have done another round but GF wasnt feeling good. Ka was stuck on one of the little hills on the way back to the station, with people being walked down the stairs. Surprisingly, it was back up in the evening. App said 100+ wait so I didnt attempt, but was likely a walk-on at park closing.
  5. I like Diablo, I dont want it to leave. If the operator gives you the extended edition it's a fun ride. Removing King Cobra is insane unless they plan on adding 12 replacement slides. The negligence shown towards Hurricane Harbor is criminal and Senator Booker should investigate. ...I know Im going to get booed for this, but Fright Fest....should I go this weekend or next weekend? Do more people go for the first weekend, or does nobody think about fright fest until October?
  6. To be fair they can't staff the lazy river as it is so why add more rides and slides that they won't be able to staff? With 7 people per square foot, I dont understand how they arent making more money than the highest end Vegas casino. Also, love the pic of folks sitting on the ground.
  7. Im happy with the location and ride choice. I am disappointed that once again Hurricane Harbor is left to rot. How many years has it been since the last addition, 27? BTW, they also added a new rewards program for members. Visits = points. You can redeem for stuff.
  8. Good addition, if thats what it is. It would be in the part of the park thats open until January right? It is sort of funny that great adventure keeps getting magic mountain rides 1-2 years later. Maybe we get the Yolocoaster next year, but with the missing half added
  9. The line management at security is always horrible at Six Flags. It gives off a really bad first impression. Well, no, second impression. The lack of parking management is the bad first impression.
  10. Put me down for a water ride, because thats what the park needs right now. Which means it will be a new high tech bumper car ride.
  11. What are the chances the budget for 2019 includes trees?
  12. Have they turned up the settings on Cyborg to make it a fun ride yet?
  13. That seems helpful. No it wasnt, they were really inconveniencing us. In all seriousness, they had their parties fanning them while someone looked for security. What else are you supposed to do besides step over them and keep moving up the line? Blame Six Flags for the horrendous lack of shade.
  14. I remember one year I went to Magic Mountain. We walked over 4 or 5 people who passed out in the lines.
  15. Whats going on with the rapids? Do they only open on peak days?
  16. Park hours are a good proxy. If theyre open until 10pm, they expect a lot of people. If they close at 8pm, they expect less people. Weather wise, the absolute best scenario is major thunderstorms from 6am to 10:29am.
  17. Review from Saturday: Arrived around 11am. Was still able to park close by, row 11, 10 cars down from the premium barricades. Security lines were long. Dont understand why they dont have a no bags line. Went into park and went straight to Cyborg. The "secret" path was wide open, but no signage. Walked straight on to the ride. The ride has a basic queue area, but does have a basic metal roof for some shade. Thanks God. Needs more trees though (surprise surprise) ....and about 30% in we got stuck. Took about 3 minutes for them to lower the ride back to starting position. Everyone in line was kicked out and the mechanics brought in. We did not get a chance to re-ride. The ride we got was super mellow. We did about one flip. Hope they fix that. Since we were in the park primarily for the concert, we decided to have a very different day and focus on the non-coaster rides. However, Safari was closed for training (there was a lot of training going on in the park), and both water rides were closed. It was very hot so we really wanted those water rides. We saw the logs getting tested. Justice League was about a 10 minute wait. Enjoyable as always, especially with the AC blasting. Did Dark Knight which was better than I remembered. All the effects were working. However, the bad forced video was set to volume level 1 so you couldnt hear anything. Hit the Batman Roller Coaster. About a 15 minute wait. For some reason they were not loading the train until the second train arrived behind it and came to a full stop. I wanted to go on the giant swings which I still havent ever been on. This was the one other ride that was closed. Found a bar serving alcoholic drinks, and more importantly, home to two Freestyle machines apparently nobody knows about. Very useful. I dont know why Id never seen them before, new? (Sky bar). Skull Mountain was about a 8 minute wait. Better than I remember. It was actually dark this time and there were no random pumpkins. Waterfall was on. We did a few of the random fair-style rides...the pirate ship, the spinning thing where you stand up and so forth. All short waits (1-2 cycles). The Sky Buckets were actually running on both sides today, but the line was long. They are building an 'Ale House" near the entrance, looks like an outdoor beer garden. We went to the sushi place. A benefit of membership is a discount off food... EXCLUDING the sushi. I rally hate when they pull fine print like that. We did Diablo, had to wait just 2 cycles. However, they were training so the ride was super mellow, they didnt hold us up on top. The secret path between Diabolo area and Kingda Ka area was wide open, as was the animal area. You could pay them money to feed goats. Houdini was Houdini, waited 2 cycles. I think that's it for rides? Overall, I was impressed. A lot of the annoying Six Flags things have been fixed, like when the door is open in Skull Mountain so theres light, or the waterfall being off, or the skybuckets being half open. Best part: the two rides we went on that usually enforce locker use werent doing so. We were ale to dump stuff on the side. We didnt ride Toro, but no one was posted either, and we saw people walking in with bags. MIRACLE ON ICE. Just makes the day so much better. One negative for the day was that the wait times werent showing in the app. As for the concert: They had two lines set up along the back path connecting the Toro area to the logs area. One for diamond passes, one for general queue. At 6:15pm, the area in front of the theater was closed off. I know this because I went to the restroom and couldnt get to the line. At 6:25 they started letting the people who lined up into the theater. At 6:35, the area was opened up so anyone could walk in. Theater was maybe 50% full during the show so there were no restrictions on going in or out. There is a stand inside selling cotton candy, cookies and pretzels. The food stand outside the theater was not open. The closest funnel cake retailer is quite a hike away. The sound inside the venue was good, and the seating was good. Switchfoot played from 7:35pm to 8:55pm. I had a good time. My gf, who wanted to see the band, loved it. The singer actually come to out seating area and stood directly behind us to sing, she got a high five. Only downside is that the only bathrooms are outside the theater and theyre pretty small. I think 4 urinals and 4 stalls. If the theater is 100% full, thats a disaster as theres no other bathroom in that side of the park.
  18. How badly will I hate myself if I try Hurricane Harbor this Saturday? Last time I went the experience was outrageously bad. Felt like sardines in a sewage plant
  19. Thats also the only song of theirs I know. Their only shows this year are all at big rock festivals, which again doesnt help me determine if theyre popular or not. I assume Six Flags booked them because their christian roots mean they wont swear at the kiddies
  20. The band is Switchfoot, which my GF wants to see I have no clue if theyre popular
  21. Anyone ever been to a concert at Six Flags? No idea how big the venue is and if you need to line up far in advance
  22. Last time I went, people stayed on. I recommend getting off though.
  23. During peak summer weekends, Ive seen them close the line at 2pm because a 2 hour wait means the last riders are getting out at 5pm.
  24. My two least favorite parts about the Six Flags chain: 1) Blocking off perfectly good paths 2) Removing trees and replacing with concrete
