I like the ocean. But there are no slides into the ocean. Has Six Flags shown any interest in improving HH? I know the main park generally gets 1 new thing a year. Apparently thats not quite true of HH? No. They hit capacity constantly so they don't really care. But they have so much space to expand. Why does Six Flags hate people Weekday?

This. It's annoying when Bizarro runs 3 trains because the crew sucks so much that they always double stack so it doesn't speed up operations at all and once you're ride is over you'll probably spend another 5 minutes sitting on the brakes. You pull in in the transfer area, theres already a train on the brakes under the roof and one in the station. So once they finally dispatch one (and it can still take awhile) you have to pull up and listen to a bunch of people clicking the seatbelts because they're bored for the next 4 minutes while they try to send the next train. That wasnt my experience. As we pulled into the waiting area, the train in front was loading and the other way going up the hill. Seemed quite efficient to me. We waited only a minute or so to fully pull into the station. I rather that than a coaster designed for 3 cars running only 1. Or designed for 6 and running 2 (cough old Colossus at Magic Mountain cough) I take it from the lack of replies on my Hurricane Harbor commentary that none of you folks frequent that park?

So I went to Hurricane Harbor for the first time this past Saturday, taking advantage of my new season pass bonus thing. They had a sign before the parking booths advising that as a "bonus weekend" all rides might not be open. Arrived around 10:45. Getting in the park and processing the season pass was quick. I was surprised how light the crowds were. The Caribbean Cove area and big wave racer were closed. I was surprised at this. Based on my experience at other water parks, rides like that have a very high throughput rate so are worth keeping open. Started at the snake ride. Line was only one "row" deep. Very enjoyable ride. However, one thing I dont get is why they have a pile of 57 tubes but only 6 are in use at any time. This was true of all slides. Continued on to The Falls and we rode the two side ones. I wouldnt call them fun. Intense experience. Only 8 people in line ahead of us. Went back up to ride the middle one. Now about 12 people ahead of me. 15 minutes later I went back down. They couldnt get water pressure and the guy didnt know how long it would take to fix it. Went to another tube ride. (Four wings maybe?) Lines getting longer now. Getting real hot. Tried the lazy river. Disaster. Water was very dirty. No tubes. Not fun. Tried the wave pool. Felt like I was in a TSA line at the airport. Enjoyed some waves and once everyone got kicked out went to another tube line. At this point it was sweltering. Lines were long and the floor was lava hot. After 10 minutes in a line that wasnt moving we decided to leave. It was around 2pm at this point. As we left the park we were amazed at the onslaught of crowds still entering. 2pm and the metal detectors were backed up 10 people deep. I cannot imagine this park on a prime summer weekend (4th of July). The park is way too small for the crowds. I cannot see myself going back unless they add a second wave pool and 5 more rides. Ride ops are way too slow, and this isnt really a staffing issue, its more of the way they handle safety. Waits are too long between people getting to start their slide. Also, not enough shade or misting systems. Anyway, we went to Seaside Heights and returned at 6:15pm. I was surprised that contrary to what I was told here, the parking lot toll booths were still fully manned. The preferred parking area was also being controlled. Lots of people still entering the park. More so than those leaving. Rode Madussa (15 minute wait) and then the mine cart thing (15 minute wait). Toro was backed up to the food stand in the line, so we bailed and hit some of the ground rides with no lines, like Diablo (10 minute wait), tea cups (instant), and one of those ship rides (instant). The rocking ship ride was funny. There were 3 kids who apparently had already ridden 5+ times in a row and were ready to keep going. This was my first time on Diablo and I thought it was excellent. They keep you upside down for a long time which was a new experience for me. The fact that we only had to wait 1.5 cycles helped. At the end I screwed up. I could have sworn the park closed at 10:30pm, so when I strolled up to the Joker at 10:05pm and the line was closed I was confused. Whoops, they closed at 10pm.

DC Comics had an entire series dedicated to gravel? Seriously this is the ugliest ride ever. I would Scream at SFMM is worse. They didn't even remove the parking lot lines. At least GL got gravel LOL! https://rcdb.com/2169.htm#p=33013 I love that it was built 13 years ago and the parking lot lines are still extremely visible. Top quality paint!

Thanks for the help all. One more question. So I bought the promo pass thing. Can I process the season pass at HH or do I have to go to the main park first? Also, I havent had a season pass in 5 years. From what I understand, theres no more processing hut right? Just enter through any line? And last one: HH closes at 6:30 and the main park is open until 10, so I was thinking of heading over and hitting a coaster or two. I notice that the best parking is "preferred" and costs extra. Do they generally still monitor this after 6pm? WAIT ONE MORE. Never having been to HH, is there a must-ride that backs up? Something I should try to hit ASAP?

You know what they say about people who assume. Rutgers has a huge commuter population. That is, many students commute from places like Freehold, Toms River and Camden. And so Six Flags is actually closer to many of them than school is. Oh, by the way, I actually work at Rutgers and currently employ 10 students in my department, so Im acutely aware of their travel and job habits. 3 of my current kids live in Jersey City and commute to New Brunswick to work for me, and thus spend $21 round-trip to work. Nice try though. I also, at one point, worked at a near minimum wage job where many of my coworkers drove over 70 minutes to. Some people just have a better work ethic than you. Back on topic: If I take advantage of the flash sale, which includes free parking, am I charged for parking on the first visit, or can I show the receipt and they let me into the lot for free? Thanks.

Yeah NJ has a somewhat high unemployment rate, so Im a bit confused. Maybe dont hire college kids if they cant work the entire season? And Rutgers, a giant college (40,000), is like an hour away. So its not like these kids evaporate. Regardless. The consensus is that Hurricane Harbor may not be so great next weekend?

Ugh. WTF would Six Flags charge full price and not run at full capacity? A broken ride is one thing, but we cant be bothered to staff is quite another. This isn't just a "Six Flags things." A lot, I mean a LOT, of larger parks have staffing issues when high schools/colleges go back in session. Cedar Point lists on their website that some coasters and rides are closed on Fridays during Haunt. Don't be so quick to blame. That makes sense, does Six Flags also advise customers? Ok, incompetent, better?
-
Yes Deja Vu. My friends didnt want to do the teacups Why woul Six Flags remove good rides? Do they hate their customers? Oh and to the person who said the park had a lot of shade, LIES. LIES LIES LIES. Also, can someone explain how the ride lock.ers work? The signage seems to indicate that its single use. But an employee said you can open and close it as much as you want within the two hours? I tested it out and it did indeed let me open and close it 4 times?

So it turns out the park wasnt packed at all. Last time I went, Safari was a 3 hour wait with the line out the entrance. This time? 30 minutes. Last time, the logs were two hours. This time, 45 minutes (although we didnt ride them anyway). Last time, Toro was an hour, 10 minutes this time, maybe 25 minutes. The longest line of the day we were in was for Batman, at around 50 minutes. Kingda Ka appeared closed all day from what we saw (we never walked up to the line), as did El Diablo. Bizzaro and the Mine Cart were walk ons. Skull Mountain was maybe 10 minutes. Air buckets were actually like 15 minutes. The carnival ride that has 4 groups of 4 spinning chairs that spin you was 100% empty so we got on. Over all it felt like what I would imagine a weekday feels like. I was shocked. And nobody told me one of the wooden roller coasters has disappeared. WTF.

Folks, I get what youre saying. Problem is, Im not going alone. Thats why Im going on a Saturday (ugh) and during summer (uuuugh). So changing date is out. Buying Flash pass is out. With those limitations in mind, is there a generally accepted faster route? I go to Magic Mountain all the time, and I know damn well when certain rides are dead empty, even on summer weekends. Surely someone here has made the same observations at this park? Genx24 seems to have provided the best routing for me, thanks. On a side note, WTF does SF hate trees. I am not excited to roast in the endless concrete hellhole.

It still closes early, yes. I don't think wait times approach three hours much anymore, but it is still very busy throughout the day. If visiting the Safari is one of your main goals, try to make it your first attraction early in the morning. Will do. Is there a generally accepted route to maximizing the day on a Saturday? I want to hit Safari, Toro, Batman, Kingda for sure, maybe Zumanjaro. Other coasters nice of course, but elss important.
