The video shows that each cycle will take about 5 minutes (including loading times) and its not a particularly large capacity ride. The picture shows the majority of the line has zero shade. Six Flags is primarily populated during the hottest times of the year. I like shade. I think most people do. I don't understand why Six Flags management does not. I'm not asking for Universal's Harry Potter style theming, but simply more of the canopy seen in the first photo. I understand they want to keep the sight-line open up front, so maybe they should have reconfigured more of the line to go around the back.

Would you prefer something like this beauty? (from GAHistory): They're for theme parks, not Rand McNally. Sure, it could always be better, but they're far from "ugly". While this one is absolutely uglier, I think it does a better job as a map - that is, helping you find where you are and where youre going. That should be the first priority. One thing Six Flags could do, but hasnt is partner with google so the google maps layout is perfect. You know how some stores (Best Buy, Home Depot) have the layout down to the aisle? Theres nothing stopping Six Flags from doing that. Whats interesting is that all the theme parks have a very similar style. I am going to do some research on what that style is and why its so popular. Now, if you guys want to see a map that manages to be butt ugly and do a terrible job at functioning as a map, there are some NJ Transit bus maps that teams of experts are still trying to decipher.

One of the reasons to go 365 was because you get better employees. Temporary employees are a PITA. You are constantly hiring and training, and because they all know the job is temporary, the folks who are on a longer horizon are looking to get out quickly. This is further complicated when you want to close in September, then open for Halloween, then close for November, then open for Holiday in the park. If you can promise someone a full-time job, youre going to get better candidates and less turnover. Of course, there are still some advantages for temporary jobs. You have a lot more labor available in the summer when the kids are out of school and need cash. But again, if you want to open during the school year, youre in trouble once your kids all quit on September 1st or whatever. I think the point being made is that tourists might be in LA for a week, and then on Monday say "lets go to Six Flags Wednesday, itll be empty". They look up the hours and woops, its not open until Saturday when they cant make it anymore. So people obviously check the hours, but are less likely to check the days they are open. I know as a tourist, Ive made the mistake where I planned to visit X attraction on a Tuesday, and when I check the website it turns out they dont open Tuesdays, but Ive already planned other stuff on Monday and Wednesday so Im out of luck.

I am talking about the water park, not the general theme park. Hurricane Harbor reaches capacity because there really hasnt been any meaningful competition in NJ. Obviously, a mall can never act as a replacement to a theme park. But a water park? HH is pretty damn basic, none of the attractions are unique.

Holy shit they remembered they own a water park! $5 they're feeling the heat from the new American Dream water park finally opening this year. LOL. That would require... 1. American Dream to actually open. It won't. 2. The two parks to share a market. They don't, despite the close proximity. They're not concerned about Mountain Creek/Action Park, which is a substantially larger and bigger waterpark than whatever ends up at American Dream, either, because they don't share a market. My understanding is that it's going largely where King Kobra (the red/white slide in that picture) was, in addition to that large open sand area, which has always been a large open sand area. They used to use that area for concerts...I remember seeing Third Eye Blind there back in like 2005. It looks pretty damn likely that American Dream will hit their deadlines this year. I think the parks absolutely share a market. Mountain Creek is isolated, has no nearby highways, and no transit. According to Google Maps, it is 1 hour 40 from Manhattan, vs Six Flags which is 1 hour 10 minutes. American Dream is just 16 minutes from Manhattan (obviously not at rush hour) Never mind the whole marketing thing. Six Flags is obviously an incredibly well known brand. The Poconos water parks are less known, but do tons of ads. I have never in my life see a Mountain Creek ad. Anyway, interesting that the sand area has never been a ride. I wonder if the new project (including seating areas) include the entire space.

I believe it is going here: https://goo.gl/maps/M4qFyw9meus Anyone know what was there before? Space is much smaller than Blue Lagoon though....oh wait, King Cobra was removed right? I guess it will take up that entire area.

RE: NJ Transit While there has certainly been lots of talk about adding daily NJT service to the mall, such talks have never been reflected in the budget. I would certainly expect a (profitable) bus from PANY to be available on opening day, but the train is still a question. Remember, NJT currently has two rail lines (Atlantic City and Princeton) completely shut down with no re-opening date because they lack equipment and operators to run them.

Holiday in the Park looks great! Any idea if the theater show is the same one as they did for Halloween but with different music and costumes? Your description sounds the same. Apparently we're getting the coldest Thanksgiving temperatures in over 100 years. I dont think the rides can handle 15 degrees???
