Thanks for the update, Robb! Once again Disney show they know how to deliver a great ride which families can enjoy together. Looking forward to checking this one out later in the year.

Checking out Epcot dining options for an upcoming trip - so many to choose from, and they all look great! Thinking Le Cellier, Teppan Edo and Biergarten look like the best bets. Anyone care to offer an opinion in favour of, or otherwise? Coral Reef looks fun too, although I think we might "dine with the fishes" at SeaWorld's Sharks restaurant instead.

Thanks to some (very) cheap flights, I'm adding Universal Singapore. Was going to wait until Battlestar Galactica reopened, but that doesn't look particularly likely in the near future.

Hopefully when you took that shot, that was your last day of working at Knott's. If not, you'll have one pretty soon. They already have your age so that narrows it down a little bit. The link to his Facebook page probably narrows it even further...

Great picks. Screen-based rides like Transformers and Forbidden Journey are great, but there's something awesome about the tangible nature of these older attractions. Indy is still my #1, without question.

I usually go take pictures while everyone else is shopping/eating lunch, partly to avoid annoying them, and it means I can leave my camera in a locker. Speaking of lockers, why do some people bring enough equipment for an overnight trip to each and every single ride? Seriously! As much as Six Flags' "no loose items" policy might rub some people the wrong way, at least it speeds up the load/unload process.

I'm also looking forward to seeing a Jersey Boys film. Thought the show was great when I saw it in Vegas, and again in Melbourne last year.

Looks like you've put a fair bit of thought and work into that itinerary! I'd suggest doing Lake Compounce and Quassy on the same day, pretty easy to do this and still get a good amount of time at each park. Could save one nights accommodation.

Wood - Boulder Dash - might be a bit rough these days but still a great ride Steel - Alpengeist - one of the less intense B&Ms, but I love how this inverted coaster uses hills and valleys to make the overall ride more thrilling. Some steel "terrain" coasters might not follow the ground quite as closely as woodies, but I think Phantom's Revenge, Tatsu, Loch Ness Monster and The Bat all use the landscape in an interesting way.

What strikes me about the results is the sheer volume of decent steel coasters around. Even beyond the top 10, the top 100 or so are all really solid rides.

Great report. KD is a fantastic park and looks even better this year, hopefully I can visit again soon.

I imagine the development (i.e. non-construction) costs of a ride like Transformers would be pretty steep. If Universal need to put it into California, Florida and Singapore to make it worth their while, I'd prefer that to a "cheaper" attraction that's only in one park.

Never understood the hate for SFMM. It's mediocre in some respects, but definitely not awful. My pick is SFA. Terrible layout. Terrible operations. Terrible maintenance. Terrible ride ops. Just the worst. And while I hate to pick on a local park, Dreamworld has been going downhill for the last 20 years, and seems to get worse each time I visit.

The dancing cars were a bit average, although I guess it was intended to be mostly a demonstration of the robotic arms. A "tunnel" ride seems a much better fit for the franchise.

Coney Island Cyclone was bouncing around terribly when I rode it last year. But SFA's Roar takes the cake for spine-realigning roughness.

The pool, lobby, food court, bowling alley all look great, but to be honest those accommodation buildings look like they sailed past "retro" and landed on "dated". The other half of the hotel that's opening later in the year does look better, though.

Woodstock Express at Cedar Point. It was a walk-on but the train took ages to dispatch because a ten-year old was deciding whether it was too scary or not. Flew up to the Gold Coast last year just to ride Storm Coaster (worth it!)

Excellent news. I had always assumed they were going to add the park hopping option at some point, but the allowance to keep making additional FP+ selections is a great bonus.

While I'm not a huge fan of Toy Story (bunch of Wii minigames which doesn't justify the typically long queues), I can understand the appeal to families. The best shooting dark ride I've seen is Justice League at Movie World. The combination of physical and digital targets, while the story plays out on 3D screens, works really well and adds to the re-rideability. Sally Corp did a great job with this one.

Of the parks I've been to I'd pick Discovery Kingdom for overall experience, but Great Adventure for rides. SFDK might not have the biggest coasters but the entertainment/animal offerings are great, and the park looks great. SFGAdv has the better ride package for sure but also a lot of "big open concrete expanse" that doesn't do much for me. Otherwise I'd rank them: 1. SFDK 2. SFGAdv 3. SFMM 4. SFNE 5. SFA

^Incredibles 2 was sort of set up at the end of the first film, so I'm surprised it's taken them this long to announce it. Not sure how I feel about Cars 3. I thought the original film was great, but Cars 2 was terrible, then Cars Land was awesome, and the Planes spin-off was really terrible. If they can recapture some of what made the first film good I'm interested, but where their earlier movies appealed to a wide audience lately Pixar seem to have been churning out paint-by-numbers kiddie films. Not as much as I'd expected. It kind of reminded me of Torque, but with cars instead of bikes. I think the NFS film franchise will do just fine on its own.
