  1. What civil service exam did you take? I hope it went well. Dude, I laughed imagining the sight of a grown man driving one of the antique cars around by himself!
  2. I wish I could get behind the hype of S&S Double Shot towers. It's all over in about ten seconds. At least with drop towers you get the suspense and anticipation as you're slowly raised to the top. You also get a nice view. That's just me.
  3. Just know that parks don't necessarily care about adding a new addition on an anniversary year. The animosity comes with a history of people insisting that something major will be added during anniversary years. Instead, parks add attractions as needed based on budgets and research. Steele Vengeance and Valravn are new so wouldn't expect any roller coasters for a while. 150th anniversary will likely include some signage, special events/celebrations, and commemorative gifts.
  4. Um. No? Phoenix is supposed to get up to 111 this week, so maybe you need to change your location on your weather app.
  5. You forgot vortex. There seems to be increasing comments on Millennium Force's bumpiness. I noticed it has a noticeable rattle to it, but it doesn't take away from the ride at this point. That said, I wonder if Cedar Point would replace the track instead of removing the coaster. It's not nearly to that point yet, but I'm talking about when it does get bad enough years down the road. Millennium Force is pretty iconic to Cedar Point, but I've also noticed that each year I visit there seems to be less and less of a line.
  6. I would guess that you have the freedom to not visit the park or to pick a different chain. Who knows. On that note, when we went to the park a few weeks ago I had no issues picking a seat or being granted a seat when I asked. But, seeing as how we waited a couple minutes to ride when the majority of people waited about an hour, I mostly never cared to ask. I definitely didn't bother asking for SV. Aside from maybe Valravn, I try not to let my assigned seat ruin a 120mph launch, a 300 foot drop, or keyholes over the front gate. Don't sweat the small stuff. Enjoy.
  7. Lewis and Clark information/tribute is vomited all over the Metro-East. I can see the top of the Lewis and Clark Community College cathedral from my driveway. Our beautiful Clark bridge spans from the city I work in to Missouri. The Lewis bridge is the next bridge south of that. There's a Lewis and Clark monument in Hartford, IL surrounded by high frequency power lines. You can get a great view of the rivers looking west. If you look east you get a great view of the oil refinery and you can't ignore the odor. There's also a Lewis and Clark museum a quarter mile away from that. It's right across from a toxic abandoned industrial site. There's a Lewis and Clark exhibit in our lock and dam. They also play a Lewis and Clark movie. Those are just the sites I can think of right now. To most of us, it's boring novelty in our community, or at least in the Metro-East. I'm not sure there's anyway to actually make it more exciting.
  8. It's time for you to get a new hobby.
  9. Can you even rent a campsite for $49? A typical $49/night establishment probably has hourly rates as well. "Have a Six Flags Stay."
  10. It's just my worthless opinion, but I don't think people should feel entitled to complain about row assignments. CP runs pretty good operations and if you have someone good at the gates it makes things flow more smoothly. I never complain when I don't get a row assignment. The only ride where I consistently ask for a front row seat is Valravn and it's always honored, even if it comes with a little hesitation. If I ask an employee and I'm shot down I know not to ask that person and I'm always polite about it and never question their decision. If the employee at the gates is swapped out I ask the next person running the gates. If they shoot me down I have the same practice of not annoying them repeatedly by continuing to request a seat. I know not to ask again. I respect their decision and try not to put a damper on my day by being butt hurt over something so insignificant. Especially as a FL+ user I'll take what I can get. We also don't know if any policies are in place. I'm sure there have been people who complain about others getting their seat preferences which has resulted in arguments and people of the 2019 era making a scene. "We've been waiting in line for two hours and I want to speak with the manager." (vomit) Let it be.
  11. I can't believe SF never put two coasters next to each other named "Goliath." It was inevitable until all of the DC crap came along.
  12. ^^ Hmmn. Not so sure about that. They're both on opposite sides of the park. The only other alternative would have been to use SOB's station and that area just got ramped up with Banshee. The pathway there narrows down that way so it might have gotten pretty congested between Banshee, Bat, and the new Giga. I could see your point if they were right next to each other, but look how close Fury gets to Intimidator. They practically touch tips... When you'll look at the skyline from the front of the park it will look like the new giga is to the left side of the park and Diamondback will be to the right. You also have to consider where the new giga's entrance will be. It'll work out!
  13. I've had two encounters with bedbugs. Both were at high end establishments. I was terrified and took extreme measures to make sure I didn't bring them home. I can only imagine Six Flags attempting to control bedbugs. There would definitely have to be a partnership with an experienced chain. Even more off topic, supposedly it's more and more common to get bedbugs from things like air travel, train travel, bus travel, and movie theaters. Sleep tight...
  14. Where have I seen that picture before?
  15. OK. You guys were supposed to help. Now, I'm mind fffked in a whirlwind of decisions. Boldi, if you were on your deathbed and you only had one day to have your last cheesesteak, which one would it be and what would you get on it? Or, would you at least be satisfied with Delassandros? I kind of want the tourist 'I've been there' experience that I missed out on when we went to Nashville and found out we had to wait 2-3 hours for Hot Chicken. If we go to the Delassandros we may just try to get there 10-15 minutes before opening so we can get a table. We'll grab something with good ratings on yelp before we head to SFGadv. Also... what's good to eat in the park? You guys think spending the last few hours on a Saturday night to get a couple rides out of the way and all day on Sunday with Fast Lane Platinum will be enough time at the park? We plan on getting there around 7 on Saturday night, driving from Philadelphia, and I want to knock a few of the rides out. Probably some of the less popular rides that have less lines, so that we can focus on the good stuff on Sunday. I'm no credit whore, but I want to be able to ride everything with multiple re-rides on the good crap. Mainly El Toro and Nitro with a few beers and people watching in between. Include mine train, skull mountain, and the log flume likely in this group. Everything else will likely be 1 and done. Looking for some pro tips.
  16. Our park doesn't have a big enough tourism draw to spend that kind of money. It's also not a large enough park to entertain a two day visit. I'd be incredibly surprised. Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Magic Mountain would be much more suited for hotels.
  17. Thanks. What's your preference with toppings? Which is the most traditional? When I was yelping last night, Delassandros looked really good.
  18. In all honesty, I'd ride the shit out of it if you could bring your drinks on-board.
  19. I think the answer is yes. You're also going to have to have an extra 50 feet out and 50 feet back. That might require several extra support beams, concrete footers, and space. understood - but it is likely the "cheapest" portion of the ride (essentially ground level). I appreciate the space issue, and braking on the downhill also serves to control speed, which also limits space needed for braking on the straight line section. Still.... most coasters have a straight-line braking section and with magnetic brakes, the space needed is comparatively minimal .... That said, I haven't been on YOLO (or obviously this one), so maybe the braking doesn't really take away from the final plunge sensation? Every little bit of money counts, especially if you look at it from a chain-wide perspective. Pushing the brake run 50 feet forward won't make any difference to people who don't spend time cruising roller coaster forums. The people who will call this roller coaster too short will still do so regardless of a little less brake run.
