Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
prozach626 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for the report! I can't believe you didn't complain about "what KI could have purchased with the money they spent." It's almost like you're grateful, as if you're used to a park that hasn't had a new roller coaster outside of a hand-me-down 27 year old boomerang since 2008?? -

If you haven't, have you considered staying at Breakers for the experience? We love it. Mid-day afternoon AC rests, followed by hotel fridge starter beers of your choice, makes for a good time. Starbucks and morning beach walks, or in our case runs, give a fresh start to the day. Taking a walk around the park after closing times is also neat. The employees don't seem to mind. -

That price tag makes me too uneasy, despite its reputation. I'll continue to overpay. -

I'll echo the recent positive remarks about Hershey by saying that it can also be more of an 'experience' than a one-day park. Chocolate World is unique. You can stay at Hershey Lodge or Hershey Hotel where everything has a chocolate theme, however subtle or in-your-face it may be depending on where you go. Of course, you also have Chocolate martinis at the resorts. (epic) Hershey was a fun two-day destination park for us, since we stayed at Hershey Lodge. -
lol. Thanks, man.

Don't get me wrong. The land Boomerang is on is great and I don't mind the color scheme unique to itself. It would have been great had it not shit on one if the most picturesque wooden coaster drops of all time. -

Not sure. I've only personally seen it running once, ever. I rode it and it went down for maintenance. I got it just in time. -

It takes a global pandemic for two trains to finally unite for a common purpose. -

It's best not to give Six Flags any ideas to put any more roller coasters on top of asphalt. I read an article on the Screamin' Eagle where John Allen said that he intentionally wanted to make the turn-around into the drop a stunning visual effect. He was big into designing his coasters to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible. I can't believe the park would eventually put an outdated green an orange roller coaster right in the middle of that view. At the time I didn't care, because I couldn't care less about Screamin' Eagle. Maybe Boomerang will rust away and we can get a nice raptor elsewhere in the park, or as a replacement for Ninja. We'd have a great line-up. -

Glad you had a great trip. Thanks for sharing. -
Two of the four challenges that have deeply impacted my life this year. All I'm missing is a murder hornet nest in my backyard. What a year.

If you really didn't want to get political, you wouldn't constantly be making nudges and pop-shot references like "Emperor Insert-Governer-Here" in your posts as frequently as you do. Just own it at this point and maybe exercise a little more discipline in your posts. I'm simply just being fair from an observational standpoint when I say that no one bats an eye when someone takes a shot at Trump or religion. If you mention something opposing the current COVID bandwagon, you're viewed as an piece of shit, despite any evidence contrary to the popular belief. I'm not saying if I'm for or against the aforementioned topics. This is just an observation. -

Well... at least you'd have a picture of a car that doesn't spin bearings, like the STI! The only thing separating the EVO from perfection is that it's missing the sound of a flat four with an unequal length exhaust manifold. -

I don't know what the Thornberry fire hose thing was all about, but I'm not a huge fan of Snoopy making sure you get wet, when the ride is basically over. Sucks. We reserve truly obnoxious park drinking for KI, especially during The Haunt, where we try to top the previous years' hangover. (Honorable mention to drunken Busch Gardens Williamsburg trips... and one time at Hershey after Chocolate Martinis...) We would have considered taking a trip there to meet up with you guys and Jizzy. -
I don't see anything inaccurate about that. The themeing is gone, to make it completely non-offensive.

hoping that vaccine actually works, i want to be back to the way we were. Even if it does, the vaccine won't save us from going back to normal. If you have kids, you're going to mumble through your masks about the way things used to be. Sweet dreams.

^It was a big buzz kill. Make sure to bring a lighter weight breathable mask. We made the mistake of bringing thick triple layer masks. It made it a lot worse. I guess at least it filtered out some of the strong chemical smells from "sanitation." I can't wait for things to get back to normal, if it ever happens. Just a few of the 2020 words and phrases I never want to hear again are "masks," "sanitize" and above all, "social distancing." I'm so tired of every product commercial on the radio adding those keywords before I cover half of my face to buy eggs and milk. -

I know exactly what you're talking about with that snappy element on Rougaru. That's definitely a highlight of the ride. Gemini is great when it races. Like Bill said, that never happens. Although, I still remember accidentally elbowing the crap out of Emily's face when we first went to the point in 07... That made it not so fun for her. I STILL feel bad about that. -

I'd rather ride Rougaru over Mantis, but it kind of lost what made it more unique within Cedar Point. It is a shame the ride isn't more popular. It's a great looking coaster and the layout is beautiful. I also like its sinister sound that the old school B&M's had. In terms of how Rougaru rides, the best I can say is that I guess it's a decent one-and-done. God knows I'm a fan of cars and car analogies! Assuming you meant stand-ups, that what works for me, also. My best attempt using that method was on Green Lantern, which I slightly enjoyed. However, it was my second ride of the day at SFGAdv, so I was still in a decent mood with no coaster coaster fatigue. We rode it right after Superman when we were getting the ones that made us uncomfortable or sick out of the way. It turned out to be the start of our miserably hot and humid mediocre park day, so I guess it's easier to remember the experience during an optimistic start...
