Oh sure, I've never been on Wicked so I have little idea of what the experience is really like. I don't know why, I guess that it's somewhat of a pet peeve. I'm around 5 feet 11 inches tall and my toes just barely touch the floor on B&M mega coasters, which drives me nuts because I can't lay my entire foot flat like on, well, pretty much every other coaster. I want to rest my feet somewhere so I try and place them on the big lap restraint anchor in front of me but I always fail because, again, I can't reach completely. Interesting. I actually do enjoy having my feet floating about which why I'm not a fan of the way you sit on most intamin trains as your feet are firmly against the floor. -

True. And it really annoys me when someone is trying to convince you that something you are 110% sure about is not true. -

^That must have been interesting Also, weren't skyrush's restraints already like that since 2013? -

Skyrush's lift must be interesting to climb given its steepness. ^Agree. -

Why don't giga coasters have steeper drops?
rcjp replied to Coastin Eric's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not even B&M drops follow the path of 0G. They follow a slightly tighter parabola to provide sustained floater air. In fact, I would say almost no straight drops or airtime hills follow the 0 G parabola as they usually pull at least a bit of negatives. Zero g rolls do follow that (with a twist on top) -

Why don't giga coasters have steeper drops?
rcjp replied to Coastin Eric's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think most of us do understand that long trains mean more negatives in the back. However, a 300 feet 100ยบ drop wouldn't necessarily pull a ridiculous amount of Gs. I mean, if people can endure the -2Gs or so skyrush's hills pull or the not so extreme yet longer el toro hills (just as examples) what would be the problem with a beyond vertical giga drop with 8 car trains? It's not like they would have to pull -3 Gs and then 6 Gs on the bottom. Yes, they would be trickier to design but I'm confident (although I haven't made any calculations) that a 300 ft 95-100 degrees drop could easily be less intense than, let's say, el toro's drop. -
Why don't giga coasters have steeper drops?
rcjp replied to Coastin Eric's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Would looping gigas really be more expensive than "normal gigas"? Why would a loop be harder to make than an airtime hill? This does sound logical. However, aren't there quite a few people (often mentioned here) that say "this ride is no good because it has no loops!"? I mean, I generally do get the feeling that most people are more comfortable with non inverting coasters but I also feel that the height factor is more important so if someone will ride a 300 ft tall coaster wouldn't they ride a 300 ft tall looping one? -

^Didn't it ride actually fine with the old trains? (at least that's what I heard) Because sometimes changing the trains to apparently better ones doesn't work out perfectly. -

^Or maybe the train would never hit the speed that would engage the trim, making it unnecessary. -

Why don't giga coasters have steeper drops?
rcjp replied to Coastin Eric's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
True. The could be vertical drops, though. However (talking about beyond vertical), as these (giga/hyper) drops are so long they would have more time to reach the maximum angle and, therefore, reducing the Gs. So, all in all, it probably can be done but it's no what parks are really after. I also think about that a lot as I'd love to see it happening and I believe it has already been discussed too. -

^I also thought about that but if you look closely you'll realise it doesn't really go that fast over the top. I think it really is the shaping of the element which would be great! -
