  1. ^ You're right about the February 8 date. I don't know why I said March 8. But SFMM is closed on February 8. Saturday, February 7 may not be too crowded because sometimes the Super Bowl can become a whole weekend thing, not just the game itself. Eric
  2. Even though it's winter here, I may just get on Jet Stream next time I go. It's been a long time since I rode that (it might have even still been "Arrowhead Splashdown" at the time!). Eric
  3. Part of the reason I passed on going is that I was just there on New Year's Eve, and also was a bit tired. I've been known to go on Super Bowl Sunday, but SFMM is closed this year on that day (March 8). But I'll get out there and break in my 2010 pass soon. Glad to hear that Goliath and Batman are open again. Eric
  4. Was the show sponsored by Chrysler? (Look at the Pentastar...) Looks like y'all are having fun! Eric
  5. ^ As far as insurance goes, I've never been asked about the color of any of my cars. However, regarding law enforcement, red and yellow are the most visible colors. Eric
  6. ^ It's odd for a technical writer to get such a kick out of that LOLspeak because it's so...incorrect! But maybe that's why I like it---it gives me a chance to "let my hair down" as it were. Eric P.S. I'm glad you tried the chocolate. You can never go wrong with that!
  7. And to think I gave some thought to going out there, but instead just stayed home. I'm glad you had a good time. Maybe next time I go on a Sunday it'll be like this. Eric
  8. ^ After taking another look at all the cards submitted so far, I think those two are the best. To Robb: Yeah, I had an idea that putting photos would increase the complexity of what should be a fairly simple thing, but I thought I'd run it past you anyway. Eric
  9. We've rented cars at the Orlando airport, or have gone to a local off-site location (Enterprise). Getting and returning your rental car at the airport is convenient because you can get your car pretty much upon claiming your baggage upon landing, and you can return the car when you return to the airport (you'll have to get back there anyway, right?). While I do like "our" Disneyland out in CA, I think you made a wise decision in visiting WDW in Florida. There is so much to see and do there. SeaWorld and the Universal resorts are close to WDW, and Busch Gardens is about 90 minutes away in Tampa, should you have the time. Eric
  10. To visit, yes, but not to live in it. Do you visit theme parks in the dead of winter?
  11. ^ GhostRider's situation is sad because it was so much fun when it opened. It just went to crap. For me, Pony Express isn't rough or uncomfortable, it's just too short. Great concept and decent theming, but poor execution. Eric
  12. ^ Add me to your list. I have never been a big fan of the exotic sports cars. Sure, it'd be fun to take one out and open it up, but actually owning one? Nope. Eric
  13. I just thought this was funny because no one ever says anything about Gold Rusher. But I've always liked it. And, BTW, it'll be 40 years old in just over a year. Eric
  14. To Pirouettes907: ADD TEH CHAWLIT!!11!!! Eric
  15. ^ SFMM's Gold Rusher actually scored higher! Eric
  16. ^ The entire experience lasts 30 minutes, which I think includes any lessons, getting fitted with the suit, etc. The last time I was at the Stratosphere (2004), I paid about $25 for an all-day pass, including unlimited access to all attractions as well as the elevator to the top (for which there is also a charge---and is the fastest damned elevator I've ever ridden). At the time, I rode the High Roller, X-Scream, and Big Shot (no Insanity yet, but would have if it was there). What was nice about the pass is that I got it in the late morning, and I was able to come back that evening had I chosen to do so. At the moment, I don't know what the ride ticket policy is. Eric
  17. ^ I did see your card; that's actually what inspired my question to Robb. You put your picture on your example, but can we easily put them on the real thing? Eric
  18. ^ I've heard a few times that people couldn't ride the cars back up the small lift anyway because of clearance issues. Of course, I don't know that for a fact, but the fact that you've ridden the new version, Erik, and have verified that load/unload is the same clears it up for me. As for the removal of the glow-in-the-dark panels, while I thought it was cool to be able to see "rockets" flying through space, the resulting darker ride is a big improvement---even here in CA. Eric
  19. ^^ That last design is so simple, yet it really works. For me, that one is tied with: Another thought: How difficult would it be to have a picture of a member on the face of the card? Obviously, people would have to submit an image (probably .jpg) and of a certain size, but would that significantly affect the cost of the cards? Eric
  20. ^ Silly, and tells the truth about my taste in movies. < Silly. V Silly, and is proud of knowing the difference between up and down!
  21. "Hate," no, but it does annoy me to no end. People who don't understand when to use that have lost too many brain cells somewhere along the line. Have you ever fallen asleep at a park?
  22. I don't mind waiting 20-30 minutes for rides. That's reasonable, and you can still get a lot done in a day's time. Eric
  23. ^ Were the rides "unexpectedly" closed or "unplanningly" closed? Even though technically there is no "off season" in Southern California, about now is traditionally the time when a park can close a ride for maintenance/refurbishment. Better now than in the middle of July when parks can be at their busiest. Eric
  24. ^^^ Laura's post got me thinking: how can you have dark black and light black? Wouldn't light black actually be dark gray? Shades of gray or any color I can understand, but not black. Eric
  25. ^ Don't let the actions of a few spoil the rest of your life. I'm feeling some similar things right now, even at my age. It'll get better. Eric
