Have you been to Disney?
ebl replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Having been born, raised, and lived nowhere else besides Southern California, I've been to Disneyland a multitude of times. DCA, three times. Three years ago, we took our first out-of-state family trip to BGT and WDW. The only parks we didn't visit while there were Animal Kingdom and the waterparks. My wife has a friend who works for Disney and will be on hand for the opening of Hong Kong Disneyland, so she just might go (if we can afford it, which I doubt at this point). Personally, I'd like to see Tokyo Disneyland/Disney Seas. One day... Eric -

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
ebl replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My most recent coaster ride was Riddler's Revenge at SFMM on April 23 with my daughter Diana and her friends Ernee and Marissa. We went to celebrate Diana's 15th birthday (which was actually the next day). They're ready to go in this picture; (l-r) Marissa, Diana, and Ernee. Eric -
So how many people out there are ACEer's?
ebl replied to PhishyBrewer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been an ACE member since 1988. They've held some events that were a lot of fun, but I haven't attended any since 1999. Even though I am a member, I still make fun of some of them. The club really isn't the same as when I joined. Too many people go on some sort of head trip that they're better than the so-called "GP." Most ACEers are just "GP" who have a card that admits them to ERT and buffets now and then. I remain a member because I think their publications are very good (though usually outdated by the time I get them). I do want to check out one of the ECC's magazines as a comparison. Everyone I've spoken to says they're top notch. Eric -
DLR Space Mountain Queue Photos
ebl replied to Sgt. Fox's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not counting it as a new credit, mainly because while it is a brand new structure, it just replaces the old one with a beefier track. But that's just my 'pinion. I am looking forward to riding this in July or August. Eric -
The old Dragnet and Adam-12 episodes from the '60s. I also like the current Cops series. Eric

Mine is just my initials. Easy and to the point. 'Nuff said. Eric

Something like this would be the perfect thing to put on top of a building like some of Japan's coasters. It would add a lot of thrill to it. Thank goodness that Parque Espana isn't replacing the Escalator Ride. That's a classic! Eric

^ Wasn't that ride all right-hand turns? That'd be kinda boring if you ask me... Eric

How about changing mine to "TPR's Senior Citizen" if you would, please. That fits me! Eric

I was born and raised in California, and I've always been able to weather the ups and downs in the economy, job market, etc. 45 years' worth of this state hasn't been too bad. There may be better places out there, but I'm comfy here. A lot of people have told me that Ventura County is one of the nicer places to live. Eric

It's May...all month, too! Eric

Wowee kazowie! I'm User Number 384, a nice, even number, evenly divisible by 3, not too high, not too low, just right for a guy over 40. I'm stoked! Eric

I have heard of a second 4D coaster, but it was supposed to be built in Japan. If it does indeed see the light of day, I hope they've made some major improvements. X is just nasty. Eric

^ LOL!!! I thought the same thing. I remember back in 1973 they tried year round DST and we went to school in the dark. The sun didn't come up till about 9. (I was in 8th grade at the time.) Now they're talking about moving the clocks ahead in early March and back in late November to add two months of DST to the year. I've always said that I don't see where they save energy because while you don't use any lights till much later in the evening, you have to turn them on earlier in the morning. But the experts claim that more people are night people, so they'll benefit from the extra daylight and not use as many lights. Whatever. Eric

What is your favorite seat on a coaster and why?
ebl replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Front seat for me on over 90% of the coasters I ride. I just like the view. Eric -
Triple Play was pretty old...in fact, I think it was one of the original park rides (park opened in 1976). I rode Triple Play only once, and that was during my first visit to the park in 1978. PGA is not a very big park, and there is little room for expansion being that it's surrounded by several industrial parks if I'm not mistaken. That may explain why there are no large coasters there. Any trips planned this month?
ebl replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm sure we'll be doing the local parks over the summer (Southern California), but hopefully I'll get to visit SFoT for the first time when I'm visiting the Fort Worth area the weekend of May 20-23. Eric -
Poll: Favorite Inversion?
ebl replied to timetrial3141592's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like the zero G roll and heartline spins the best, followed by that good ol' vertical loop. Those are the only inversions where I don't get my head banged by the OTSR. Eric -
Eh, I make fun of Vekomas like everyone else, but to be honest, they're not that bad. Keep in mind that Disneyland's Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are Vekomas, and they're pretty smooth in my opinion. Rock N Roller Coaster at Disney/MGM was enjoyable for me. Even the dreaded Kong (SLC at SFMW) wasn't that bad when I rode it in 1999. (And it had a bad rep even then.) Vekomas are fun to make fun of, but I won't stay off of a coaster just because it says "Vekoma" on it. Eric
