  1. ^ But this is the OFFICIAL, LICENSED thread, so we're in the right place. We wouldn't want a run-in with the law. I chose peanut butter, but the best ones were the Premiums. Unfortunately, they're phasing those out. At one time, they had Triple Chocolate, Chocolate Mint, Chocolate Almond, Raspberry Almond, Dark Chocolate, and my favorite, Mocha. The trouble is that they were pretty expensive (about $4 for a six-ounce pack at most places). When I discovered that it was getting harder and harder to find them, I bought up as many packs as I could at the local stores. For whatever reason, only two flavors were packaged in eight-ounce bags. If you can still find bags of the Triple Chocolate or the Chocolate Mint, pick them up. Target and/or CVS are good bets. Eric
  2. So you can flip coins off of it. Why do some companies make both cars and motorcycles, but not all of them?
  3. Now that regular lightbulbs are being phased out, it looks like when someone has an idea, a compact fluorescent bulb will turn on instead. Eric
  4. Time for bacon! How do they determine which side of your car the fuel filler door goes?
  5. ^ Before the OTSRs, Revolution's height limit was 42". My nephew got to ride it when he was six. The first time I rode it, the seats didn't even have headrests yet. And there was quite a pop of ejector airtime in the back seat as you passed through the center of the loop and took that dip that leads to the final spiral. For some reason, I was thinking about Revolution today and decided that in its original form, it was a masterpiece. Today, definitely not. I also wondered if Anton himself ever got to ride it after it was installed at SFMM. Eric
  6. "What year did Revolution get its over-the-shoulder restraints?" (6flagsbrad) In 1991, SFMM tried a OTSR that was literally like the shoulder belt in your car. The following year, they installed the current OTSRs, which were exactly like the ones on Flashback. Eric
  7. Do you think if the park instituted some sort of reward system or a friendly competition (with prizes) for ride crews that get the most throughput, it would speed up and/or motivate the ride ops? What is the cell phone policy regarding their use during work hours---especially in view of guests? Seems like immediate termination would be the consequences, but... Eric
  8. If your squash weren't growing crooked, they couldn't be called "crookneck" squash. So if you called them that, they'd be insulted and wreck your house in the middle of the night. Why can't you see through sand, but you can see through glass, which is made from sand?
  9. I really like that picture. Very realistic in terms of the track detail, and having the ride layout on there is cool. Can you grab the brass ring on Knoebels' carousel? I seem to remember that you could. This has been a great trip report. Eric
  10. I agree with "Project 18" being a code name for SFMM's 18th coaster. We all know that Mr. Six's DanceCoaster was supposed to be SFMM's 17th coaster, but it was never set up (supposedly delayed till next year). We know also that something is going on with Superman--The Escape. With MSDC opening and Superman's makeover, the park will have 17 coasters. Setting up MSDC won't take much capital, and I can't imagine that launching S:TE backwards would take much either. Either 2012 will be the debut of something HUGE (this so called "Project 18"), or it may take place as an as-of-yet-to-be-announced project for 2011 alongside what's already known or hinted at. Eric
  11. Ten pounds, no. But don't go to town and eat a "brazillion" pounds! Why does the city's library close at 5pm on a Sunday?
  12. I earned $101 tonight. It would have only been $100, but someone threw a dollar on my table. Eric
  13. In that space that's now empty because you left the car in gear and didn't set the brake. What exactly is in sludge?
  14. More times than I can count. Do you ever thank ride operators for a great ride?
  15. Your town is bankrupt, so...never. What kind of liquid do they use in liquid crystal displays?
  16. ^ Taking after me with the grammar corrections, eh? But you're right about that one. Thanks for saving me the trouble. Back to food...one of the reasons that Weight Watchers works is that their program doesn't eliminate most food---it's all about portion size. Honestly, that's really the key. You can enjoy M&Ms by eating one and sucking on it till it melts. It's just as good. And by doing that, you can have a third to half a pack of them and be completely satisfied. One time, I saw a guy buy some M&Ms out of a machine (handful for a quarter) and just WHOOOF them into his mouth. Did he even taste them? I doubt it. But eating like that is probably at least part of the reason he had a rather paunchy middle... Eric
  17. Maybe this nail salon considers that fat people have bigger fingers, which means that they have to use more product, which costs more. As for the airline seat thing, why should an average sized person have to spend hours squashed by an overweight person spilling into their seat? Either make "big boy" airline seats in select rows a la some B&M coasters or charge extra. Eric
  18. Because it would be complete and total McStupidation for a candy bar called "Almond Joy" to not have any nuts in it. "Mounds," on the other hand, is rather vague because "mounds" could be mounds of anything, even pork rinds. Why do most Wendy's restaurants have their soda fountain behind the counter where only the employees can reach it to fill drinks, while almost every other chain has their fountains out so diners can fill their own?
  19. ^ If they were male, they came from buoys... You'll find the men's clothing section tucked away in a little corner of the store, while the women's clothing takes up the rest of the space---just like how it is when you share a closet! Why did they call it a "Mars" bar instead of "Saturn?"
  20. Our written language is getting stupider by the minute. First, it's the "st," "nd," "rd," and "th" added to a date (like today, August 26 would be written as "August 26th." You don't need the "th" on it, as it's read that way when written as "August 26"). Now, for an encore, I'm seeing written fractions as "1/3rd," "3/4ths," etc. The simple term, "1/3," is read as "one third" so no "rd" is necessary. This is definitely something brought to you by the "Apostrophes in Plurals" ( ) crowd. Eric
  21. ^ Honestly, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Jay made an appearance at WCB next year. It really sounds like something he'd do. Eric
  22. The people with big asses do! Why did L-1011s and DC-10s have an engine stuck in their tail?
  23. ^ Regarding your second paragraph, I have to admit that I'm feeling the same way. One or two inversions on a ride is fine, but too much "loopiness" doesn't do much for me. I'd rather ride something with a lot of airtime, or something simply fun. Also, with no inversions, most likely there won't be OTSRs to hold you in---just a simple lap bar and/or seatbelt. As it is, SFMM already holds the world record inversion-wise at 35. Back when Mark Shapiro was still with Six Flags, it was mentioned a few times that he wasn't a big fan of loops either. To me, that implied that forthcoming coasters wouldn't be as likely to have the inversions and that perhaps a good airtime machine was due. Now that Mark and Jay are both gone, we'll just have to see what's next. Eric
  24. ^ With such fairly light crowds, which enabled you to ride like you did, I'd guess that Goliath was either running only one train, or the ops weren't really efficient. It just seems odd that you could get back-to-back rides on others (like X2) and have to wait so long for Goliath. Many schools are back in session, which may explain why it wasn't so crowded. I really hope that Jay's efforts during his time at SFMM will rub off on employees, and that any who care about the park will continue to keep it clean. Eric
  25. I'm glad to hear that Jay simply got a new position. While I don't know Bonnie personally, I have spoken to her a few times when she was at SFMM. She's familiar with the park and will do just fine. Regarding the park's direction, now that there's been a change at the top, I have a feeling that with SFMM's reputation, they're going to head back toward the big thrills. This is how SFMM is known, and they should stick with what they do well. As for Jay, I wish him the very best. He did a great job during his time at the park and I will miss seeing him there. Eric
