Exactly what is X's name? Half the people I hear talk about call it "The Extreme." Of course, it doesn't matter to me since I will probably never ride it again. It's thrown me around and beaten me up too much. All in all, it does look like the next few years at SFMM are going to be interesting. And I'm glad that there are other priorities than raising the coaster count. Eric

I got a haircut today (well, what's left of my hair...) and the stylist's hands reeked of tobacco. If you're going to work with the public---especially in a position where you're getting, well, personal---then wash your hands! Eric

I'm not sure how they'll handle riders boarding and exiting X trains at the same place, being that, unlike traditional coasters, guests can't move away from boarding riders. I'm sure some sort of reconfiguration of the bars will take place. Too bad they can't incorporate a dropping floor. That would speed things up even more. And, yes, the petting zoo and Granny Gran Prix removal is a good idea, especially if what replaces it will be something fresh. Thanks for your reports, Jahan. They're greatly appreciated, particularly from this 36-year Magic Mountain fan. Eric

Walibi Holland Discussion Thread
ebl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Reminds me a bit of the restraints on B&M flyers---a flexible "vest" that I find to be rather comfortable, actually. It appears that Vekoma has accidentally done something smart this time! Eric -
The Official "TPR Japan Trip 2007" Thread

Central Park looks...interesting. That Batman clone looks like it's seen better days, given the rust on it and the heavily worn OTSRs. I hope it was still at least somewhat B&M smooth. And Dan still has that crap all over his face...doesn't he ever bathe? Eric -
We just had a new addition to our family...a silver 2005 Toyota Corolla XRS. Six-speed manual transmission, 180HP engine. That sucker's fun to drive. And it's for Diana---aka Penelope Pitstop. Eric P.S. And, yes, she knows how to drive it!

What kind of lunch was that? NO BACON?!?!? Anyway, great report otherwise. I want to visit Holiday World sometime. I've heard only great things about it. Eric

As I was slowly passing An orphan's home today, I stopped for just a little while To watch the children play. A lonely boy was standing And when I asked him why, He turned with eyes that could not see And he began to cry... Figure out what those lyrics are! Eric

Yes, I've seen some great pumpkins, but most of them are just mediocre. Do you like or eat Kellogg's Corn Flakes?

Yes, and I make up new ones, too! Do you still watch cartoons?

Three lift hills, huh? In one of your pictures, I noticed that they had a track layout posted. Did you get a close-up of that? I'm really curious how this thing is laid out. But regardless, the fact that Knoebels is building it out of wood in the traditional fashion means that the ride experience will most likely be just like the original ones of old---and will kick some serious boo-tay. Photo TR: Awesome trip to the Magic Kingdom
ebl replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Nice TR. I wish I was going to WDW this year with the Westcoaster group, but, alas, I have to skip it this time. No more wand on Spaceship Earth = goodness. So, now you need a green card to ride Dumbo? Will a passport suffice? Eric -
PTR: Chuck does a Ghetto Fair
ebl replied to hifalling's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looked like a fun fair, for a small town at least. But I didn't see much in the way of "ghetto." Eric -
^ Great photo TR! Someday I will die. But before that day arrives, I will visit Knoebels. Eric

I need a new George Foreman grill because my meat keeps sticking to the grill surface. You could say my George Foreman grill was "KOed." Eric

No, I just keep coming here because there's nothing else on the internet... Whaddaya think? Have you eaten a cupcake today?

SFMM Psyclone, was it ever a great ride?
ebl replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What I found funny is that SFMM had more than six coasters when that "monument" was built, so I wonder why they didn't make it much bigger with room for expansion? Odd how X and Deja Vu were skipped. Eric -
Six Flags vs. Cedar Fair
ebl replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've never been to any park that was originally Cedar Fair, but I've seen what they've done to Knott's, and I don't like it at all. More coasters---so many to the point of destroying the charm of a park that I always enjoyed visiting (even when they only had one or two coasters). Our local Six Flags park (SFMM) also was not originally under Six Flags, but that organization did get us some great rides throughout the '80s and '90s. The current "Premier" Six Flags came in ten years ago and overexpanded and de-family-ized the park, but at least they caught themselves and are going to turn it around. All in all, for me, I think Six Flags wins out between the two. Eric -
Great America Compared To Other Cedar Parks?
ebl replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's been eight years since I was last at PGA. And there's no desire to ever return, honestly. This particular park will never be a great park because they don't have the room to do anything spectacular. Marriott did well with the park when they owned it, Paramount didn't do badly considering the space they had to work with, but now under Cedar Fail, I don't see anything improving, except more concrete. Wooly mammoth. Those roamed the land in my day. Eric

When people say "anyways." The word is not a plural, no "s" required. When people say they "could" care less. It's "couldn't" care less. Think...if you don't care about something, then you could not care any less, could you? My apologies for being such a spelling/grammar Nazi, but I think people will take us more seriously if we speak properly. Eric
