In all fairness, the park rep stated that the ride would be deemed safe before it is re-opened. They didn't state that Six Flags was willing to pay whatever it costs to fix it or that New Jersey would allow it to re-open. Lets Knott forget about Xcelerator when we are counting Intamins collecting dust that just can't seem to be maintained.

Like Seaworld and Cedar Fair[ Six Flags was forced to take on debt to stay open. No one wants to lend them millions for new coasters, so gimmicks, it is. Paint the old ones. Six Flags CEO: ‘We became a cheap day care center for teenagers’ https://nypost.com/2022/08/11/six-flags-ceo-we-became-a-cheap-day-care-center-for-teenagers/ Six Flags revealed it has shed nearly 2 million customers during the past year – a drop that came partly because of an initiative to weed out “rowdy teenagers,” according to the company’s CEO. The Arlington, Texas-based theme park’s shares tumbled 18% to $21.12 on Thursday after it disclosed that attendance at its 27 parks was down 22% from a year ago to 6.7 million in the quarter ended July 3. The drop came partly because Six Flags has been steadily hiking ticket prices after offering too many discounts this year, Chief executive Selim Bassoul told analysts on a Thursday earnings call. “So, we only got the discounter or we became a day care center for teenagers,” Bassoul said. “It was a cheap day care center for teenagers during breaks and the summers.” In response, Six Flags has been hiking prices to reduce the numbers of “rowdy teenagers running around,” he added. The rowdiness has occasionally turned violent. Last month, a teen was arrested for aggravated assault of a police officer at Great Adventure in Jackson Township, NJ when he pushed a cop who’d been called to the park because of reports of a fight. Last year, at the Six Flags in Prince George’s County, Md., several fights broke out in the parking lot during Fright Fest. Videos posted on social media showed young women viciously attacking each other, roofs of cars being trampled on and people smashing windows, according to CBS Baltimore. And in 2017, at the Gurnee, Ill. Six Flags, police were called to the park after teenagers “sucker punched” a 12-year-old when the boy’s mother asked them to tone down their swearing. The teens then attacked the boy’s parents, punching and kicking them, according to media reports at the time. Now, Six Flags is ratcheting prices higher as it focuses on “elevating the guest experience,” Bassoul said. Accordingly, the company now expects attendance to be down by between 20% and 25% this year. Total guest spending per person, however, has increased to $63.87 from $51.94 compared to a year ago, the company said. “We realized that we had discounted too much and we were filling the park” with the wrong kinds of customers, said Bassoul, who became CEO in November after serving on the board since 2020. Meanwhile, the number of families attending the parks has increased by “multiple percentage points” Bassoul said. Selim Bassoul was named CEO in November 2021. Takreem “We want to be a park for the middle class and even the lower middle class,” he said. “We believe our demographic is the average income of the US and I’m migrating a little bit from what I call the Kmart, Walmart [customer] to maybe the target customers, if I want to say that.” Sea World in Orlando, Fla. charges $116 per ticket, according to its website while a ticket to Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ costs about $45, according to the Six Flags website. “This is a transitional year for Six Flags, as we reset the foundations of our business model to focus on delivering a premium guest experience, while at the same time, correcting for decades of heavy price discounting,” Bassoul said in a Thursday statement. Six Flags is also looking to improve wait times at its parks which can add up from up to 30 minutes to park, up to 30 minutes to clear security, 15 to 25 minutes to use the restrooms and one to two hours to get food and get on a ride, Bassoul said. In July, a power outage at its Great Adventure park in New Jersey forced park goers to wait for more than 90 minutes in the scorching heat to enter the park. During the past year, the company said it has lost about 2 million season ticket holders who did not renew their membership As a result, total revenue for the quarter decreased by 5% to $24 million, fueled by the the lower attendance and $5 million reduction in sponsorship revenues. Six Flags officials didn’t respond to requests for additional comment.

It looks like we are also getting a new sit down Mexican restaurant with made to order burritos and tacos, along with a new bar. I am hoping these are real cocktails and not the current pre-mixed disgusting Margaritas that they currently sell at the current quick service Mexican restaurant. VIVA FIESTA VILLAGE All-New in 2023 Inspired by the Hispanic influence on Southern California, Fiesta Village will come alive in 2023, full of celebration and culture with all-new experiences, entertainment, dining, shopping, and thrills. Stroll down Fiesta Mercado, inspired by Los Angeles’ Olvera Street, and find a variety of merchants with unique and authentic items, surrounded by bright, colorful alebrijes and vibrant landscaping. Bite into made-to-order burritos and tacos at the new full-service Casa California restaurant, or enjoy a cold cerveza and specialty cocktails at the adjacent Cantina Del Sur. Take in more live entertainment at the transformed open-air Fiesta Stage, plus newly themed attractions, including the next chapter in Montezooma’s Revenge.

The 2023 season passes are on sale now. It looks like admission, meals and drinks are good at the home park for the rest of 2022 and the rest of Cedar Fair starting in 2023. The platinum food discount has dropped from 20 to 10%. It looks like the refillable soda bottles are gone and replaced with just the paper cup program. https://www.knotts.com/season-passes For example that Platinum Pass is good at Knott's for the rest of this year and any Cedar Fair park starting in 2023: "Enjoy FREE PARKING, exclusive perks, discounts, and more with your 2023 Platinum Pass including FREE visits the rest of this year and UNLIMITED visits to all Cedar Fair Parks in 2023. Not valid for Scary Farm or special events. Not valid for the Shopping and Dining, preferred, or hotel parking lots." It looks like dining also starts at Knott's for the rest of 2022: "Enhance your visits and enjoy lunch and dinner every time you visit in 2023 with All Season Dining, plus get the rest of 2022 for free! Max of 2 meals per day. Only a 4-hour interval is required between meals. Drinks, snacks, and desserts not included. Dining Plan added to a Platinum Pass is valid at all Cedar Fair parks. Valid only at park of purchase in 2022. Valid at all Cedar Fair parks in 2023. Not valid for Knott's Scary Farm or special ticket events." New food menu https://qr1.be/3QTP A couple of the new food items appear like things I would try. A pasta bowl with choice of protein sounds interesting along with the chicken sandwich: Prop Shop Pizzeria - Pizza Slice & Side Salad Pasta Bowl topped with 1 Protein or Veggies Assorted Gourmet Salad Coasters Diner ABC Chicken Sandwich(Avocado, Bacon, Chicken)

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
SoCalJasonland replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It looks like a couple of the Cedar Fair parks have new passes. The two bring a friend free tickets might make it worth it. I don't know it I want to wait in line for one line skipping pass. -
I haven't had the opportunity to visit either Nick U. parks but the Youtube videos make the Minnesota park look somewhat busy where I don't see hardly any customers at the New Jersey one. I didn't know if it was because people actually go to the Mall of America for other reasons or if just more of their rides actually work but I hope something can be done for the American Dream Mall. I do agree that a giant Amazon warehouse sounds like a more profitable use for the mall though:-) Prime member should get free coaster rides if they are willing to pick up their own packages.

Skateboarding an empty waterpark
SoCalJasonland replied to SoCalJasonland's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for letting me know what type of ride that is. I wanted to put they did "loop-de-loops" on a tornado, but wasn't sure. -
Knott's made a new change to the adult chaperon policy. One adult can bring in up to four kids 17 or under from Fri - Sun. This is a change from only two kids per adult. I do hope that NBC4's park news is current because they started the news article with aerial views of the park with close ups of WindSeeker Talk about pulling old stock footage. I wonder if the park fights will tilt the park back to mostly family attractions. https://www.knotts.com/code-of-conduct KNOTT'S BERRY FARM CODE OF CONDUCT NEW CHAPERONE POLICY For decades, Knott’s Berry Farm has been a place where families and friends come together to enjoy our one-of-a-kind park. Just in case people think that a park with several new coasters can't go out of business within a year; here is an example below of a brand new park with 17 new coasters that closed within a season. Even if Nick. U. gets their debt forgiven or renegotiated in bankruptcy, if you don't have enough revenue to cover employee and other continuing variable expenses then the business will not survive. The fact that the major attractions are unreliable and attendance is low when it is still new amusement park, makes me think that the rides will be auctioned at some point. Does anyone here have an idea on what could make this park survive? https://www.theatlantic.com/photo/2021/09/photos-abandoned-wonderland-eurasia/620011/ Wonderland Abandoned: The Swift Fall of “Europe’s Biggest Theme Park” ALAN TAYLOR - SEPTEMBER 8, 2021 19 PHOTOS (redacted) IN FOCUS Wonderland Eurasia, billed as “Europe’s biggest theme park,” opened in Ankara, Turkey, in March 2019. Political turmoil, uneven ride quality, and a lack of attendance caused the massive park to close its doors permanently after less than a year of operation. According to an AFP story, the park’s abandoned dinosaur statues now piled in fields tell a “tale of grand ambition, waste and troubles facing the long-ruling party of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.” The project, built by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, cost hundreds of millions of dollars, and featured 17 roller coasters and dozens of other attractions spread over a 320-acre park, which now sits empty.

I had to drive out to Palm Springs for an insurance claim this morning. I drove by the old Wet and Wild and found construction signs. I checked the internet to see if they were re-opening and found this video. As an insurance adjuster, I can't condone this conduct, but this skating is absolutely insane. I can't skateboard on flatland, let alone a whole water slide and neither can them. Sorry, if this is in the wrong forum category and please delete or remove if inappropriate.

Perhaps the pass expires on September 30th because that is the earliest they can be foreclosed on? How many bond payments can they miss before the lender takes it over and either finds a new operator or closes the park? It looks like the water park has a similar pass deal. https://www.americandream.com/dreamworks_season_pass/tickets DREAMWORKS WATER PARK SEASON SPLASH PASS $179 Enjoy the best of DreamWorks Season Splash Pass. For one price, dip in again and again, as often as you want from now until September 30.

I worked at The Wherehouse music and movie place a couple of miles south of Knott's during early 1990's when I was at CSUF. I had to sweep up the used heroin needles and condoms out of the parking lot before we opened in the morning. We also had people steal items and walk slowly out the front door as the shoplifting alarm went off with no sense of urgency. Cops would take a couple of hours to arrive and just give you a report number for your insurance before they walked out on you. I asked if I needed to make a list in case the police found something. The cop just laughed and kept walking to the door. I quit calling the police and wasting my time as they were either worthless or overworked on more serious crimes as they never resolved a shoplifting issue for us. Shop lifting, hookers and panhandling were daily. The whole neighborhood between Disney and Knott's has been trash for years. My brother in law was a security guard for Disney on the west side of Disneyland behind the hotel. He got rocks thrown at him nightly at the guard booth with the occasional gun fire. I was also a manager for Savon drugs and our worst crime ridden Orange County stores were all central OC from Santa Ana to Buena Park. Unfortunately, most of the trash is moving east out near me to Riverside or San Bernardino as entry level homes in OC are a million dollars and apartments are also painfully expensive. The crime hasn't gone away in OC though as the weather is more mild for the homeless criminal class that can't tolerate the 100+ temperatures out here most of the summer.
