Sadly all-or-nothing a pretty common mindset among connoisseurs of any hobby topic. I frequent a music board elsewhere on the Web, and a painfully frequent topic recently is how a particular reviewer gave a particularly-hyped album a 9/10. People LOST THEIR DAMN MINDS because they felt it deserved a 10, and now they hate both the album and the reviewer. It seems the quickest way to hate something you like is to start talking about it on the Internet. I just hope I like Fury, since I'm taking a roadtrip there this summer, regardless of what anyone else says. -

It might not be outwardly negative, but on this forum it always feels like a backhanded compliment at best. I'm trying to think of anything really favorable that's been said about the general public, and I'm drawing a blank. -

Eh it was worth a shot I guess. Stranger things have happened, like getting $55,000 for potato salad -

I've been planning a trip to Carowinds this summer but have run into a bit of a conundrum. I and three other friends have been doing an annual theme park road trip for a few years now, but one of the guys has moved to California. He doesn't really have enough for airfare, and we all barely have enough to pay for ourselves. It's looking like we won't be able to make it to Carowinds this year I've thrown together a crowdfunding thing if anybody wants to chip in. I know it's a stretch, but if you contribute you'll get park-related goodies. We'll get you a souvenir, or I'll write you a song. https://funds.gofundme.com/dashboard/carowinds2015 -

*Kills self* This is a reasonable reaction. -
I was also there on Saturday. It was absolutely ridiculous. Half an hour just to get to the gate, and getting out of the parking lot took about an hour and a half. We got FlashPass, and even then we only got on four rides (El Toro, Superman, Nitro, and the ferris wheel (how romantic)). They closed Ka's line right as we got there. It makes sense, considering how they normally lines empty out as long as you get in before closing, and then how ridiculously crowded it was. It was about a 4 - 4 1/2 hour wait when they closed the line. They also closed El Toro's line at around 11:15 for similar reasons. I still managed to have fun but I'm definitely never going to Fright Fest again on a Saturday.

Has anyone heard anything about construction on Fury? I've heard hardly anything lately, are they making any progress? -

Some screenshots for those who can't see. Also lol @ Cedar Point disabling comments on the video. They know. -

That's not necessarily a good thing. Didn't you know? Here on this forum G-LOC is the only thing that makes a roller coaster good. As for Nitro, I've definitely greyed out on it in the times I've been on it. This looks like it'll be more like a GateKeeper helix, a bit of forces but nothing too crazy. -

They already have the live cam up. Obviously it's not an interesting view yet, but hey it's there at least. https://www.carowinds.com/swarm/building-the-nest/live-camera-feed -

If I ever got to the point where I would consider a 325 ft 81 degree 95 mph drop "stale and overdone" and "not packing much of a punch," I would just stop riding roller coasters altogether because I clearly have become the most joyless person on the planet. -

Guys maybe this is the announcement. Next year's ride is just dudes badly singing Prince songs in a corner of the park. -

They modified it only because the original turn kept melting wheels, if I remember correctly. I didn't experience it directly, but I've also heard that today's trimless reprofiled turn is just as intense as the original turn with trims on the drop. Intensity is the whole point of the ride; that ground level turn is on purpose. Intamin's not going to spend money and time to manufacture new track and supports because a few people got woozy on their insane speed monstrosity. -

Nah man. What about Son of Beast, or The Bat 1981, or going back further, the three literal death traps Harry Traver designed? And in terms of marketing screwups, The Dark Knight Coaster and Thi13teen were actually misleading in how they were advertised/themed. The GateKeeper leak was a pretty bad blunder, but certainly not deserving of that sort of hyperbole. -

The Latin in the countdown is Google Translated to "This code for the photo. In the submissions." but being a literal translation that's probably wrong. Anyone out there take Latin in high school? -

What is the rain closure policy for rides at KI? Unfortunately, my timing led me to be going to the park tomorrow, which is going to be incredibly violent thunderstorms. What closes in rain, and I assume everything closes with lightning? -

What are the best seats on each ride? The only ones I can remember reading about off the top of my head are front car for Beast, Banshee, and Diamondback. Are there any other rides for which a specific row/car gives the best ride? -

Bit of an odd question, but I assume people would be in the know around here. I'll be visiting Kings Island with three friends in a week and a half, and it likely won't be a while before I'm back in Cincinnati. As for Cincinnati chili, should we go with Skyline Chili or Blue Ash Chili? I feel like the former is more iconic while the latter might be objectively better, but for the overall experience I was leaning toward Skyline. How far off am I?
