  1. while it's a shame they don't have more open, still must have been really nice to be able to get out and wander in the park! nice pics.
  2. this cut doesn't feel like there's anything intended as a "response" to the Theatrical released version. really, what this cut does, is jettison pretty much everything Wheedon added (buh-bye idiotic Russian family fleeing plants that the heroes needed to stop fighting Steppenwolf to go rescue). . also buh-bye a lot of the "Marvel" style comedy that works for the Avengers, but not really when Synder is looking at the DC heroes as "Gods among Men"). which is not to say that there isn't any humor in the Snyder cut. . there actually is some (some works, some doesn't). so yeah, I get that this is close to his intended version - it probably still needed a few trims, and I certainly get the idea that this would have been split into two films (such as Avengers ended up doing a year later). it ABSOLUTELY fits into established lore (in particular key scenes from SvB can be viewed in a better light, and his take on Wonder Woman is spectacular. Just the extension of the Terrorist scene. . . Snyder *really* gets Wonder Woman). I'd recommend this cut. . the motivations added to several characters really give them an Arc (most visibly Cyborg, Steppenwolf (who has a reason for his actions now), Flash, and even Aquaman gets some additional backstory. Some have been saying this version "validates" Affleck's Batman. . not sure I'd go that far, but he is actually very good in this version. I much prefer how Superman is portrayed here too. one of the biggest changes - and I'll say it's a minor spoiler - is that in Act 3 (which is almost completely different than what was seen in Theatrical cut, tho yes, "skyboarding Aquaman" is still in there) during the "big battle" ? the big 3 really take a back seat. Batman, Superman, and WonderWoman are there, and particpate. . but the main protagonists in this version are Cyborg & Flash, with Aquaman pretty front and center too. does it take a lot of the teeth out of the middle of the film that Supes doesn't do all that much in the final battle? a bit, but I mean. . he had to be resurrected, right?
  3. ^ the 3rd act is really incredible. there's a ~25 minute Epilogue section, which really can be skipped - it's just follow up, and set up for other films (that likely are never going to happen. . but perhaps, if reaction to this one continues to be great, WB will greenlight continuations) you'll be blown away by the 3rd act. it's SOOOO good. As to "Aquaman" film. . it follows this one directly. (he doesn't know why his Mother disappeared, he just thinks she walked out on him - just like the beginning of "Aquaman" film. Also, he's not an ally of Mera yet - tho you'll get some follow up on that in the above mentioned "Epilogue" section. but that's why she begrudgingly respects him at the start of the "Aquaman" film)
  4. . . and just to be clear. . no, it STILL wouldn't get me to "ride" it
  5. ok. . I TOTALLY get that the design choice in that logo is to make it look like a Boomerang. but. . .
  6. Ok. . no spoilers (at all - not even characters that have been given away as being in this). But having sat with it for a little bit after watching last night: Zack Snyder's Justice League is *incredible* the Theatrical release was a C- film. This? this is a SOLID A (and if you're a comic fan, with some familiarity of the DC Universe? A+). I know some reviewers have commented there's a little filler in here, but I didn't think any of it was filler. The ~4 hour run time just flies by. This is NOT anything even close to the theatrical release - perhaps 20% (or 18%) is footage we've seen. . the rest is all a brand new film. A new film that really fills in tons of character info/motivations/and triumphs. Clearly the two that benefit most are the Flash & Cyborg, but really all the characters benefit from more "stuff" that just wasn't in the original film. I really hope this does so well, that WB/DC greenlight the follow-ups, as I REALLY wanna see what comes next.
  7. @teacherkim we good. . like adults, we chatted about it via message. (at least I think we good) , right Zach?
  8. ^ that diving drop in the dark just KILLS. so good. Official "lights on" POV from the park:
  9. what is the new ride? (is that the "new/classic" boat ride they had been talking about?)
  10. it made MAJOR national news because it's an idiotic Political move by Abbott and the Republicans in charge of Texas. (AG Paxton has sued Travis County for continuing to enforce Mask Mandates). A quick google search just pulled up stories on NBC news, ABC news, CNN, Fox, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the LA Times - just on the front page of results from "Texas ends Mask Mandate") I realize it doesn't fit your agenda, but please don't pretend that it didn't get coverage. Thankfully, most of us who live here are NOT of the believe that asking folks to wear masks is an infringement of their "freedom", and realize that if everyone continues to wear masks and social distance, we can keep the Virus under control - and therefore most every business in Texas has decided to keep Mask Mandates in place - not just the Six Flags Parks, but Sea World, most Retail Stores, and pretty much every Grocery Store chain in the State. oh yes, Abbot said Texas is open 100%, but very, very few places are even at 50% capacity, because they need their customers alive.
  11. I would guess the Plexiglass thing is via State - as you'll see those at SFFT as well. (and I believe SeaWorld SA). . so the Texas parks seem to have them.
  12. it's not a great park. . but they do have some good rides there. go with low expectations, and they'll likely be exceeded.
  13. ^ or you could have just gone to the TPR Facebook group - which I referenced as my source (and I pulled the screencap from). but tomato toma-to
  14. it was a direct response to someone's tweet. . SFStl responded to them:
  15. . . and via a tweet posted to the TPR Facebook page from the park, it does appear they have confirmed both Superman *and* the Moon Cars are gone.
  16. I can check with my 'source' - but considering how connected to American Thunder they are - there's not really a point to remove them (it doesn't free up any space), and it's such a short track anyways that I'm not sure they need that much staffing on it. I can't imagine gas powered buggies need that much expensive maintenance (aren't they basically lawnmower engines?). EDIT to add: "source" came back and said they hadn't heard anything about the Antique Cars going anywhere. doesn't mean they might still go, but source was unaware of any plan to remove them.
  17. well.. . can't really post about it anywhere, because I know so many are suffering right now (certainly not mentioning it on FB). but this thread does seem to be the perfect place. so will just be vague and say that I got an unexpected bonus yesterday. I mean, I knew the company had hit the goal numbers to give employees a bonus, but the actual number is the biggest I've ever gotten in 35+ years of working in the tech industry.
  18. sounds like we can add Superman from SFStL to the list (the old Dungeon Drop from Astroworld). it's currently SBNO, but a reliable source is telling me that the plan is it won't open and will be removed (1/2 of it hasn't operated in a number of years, and apparently the maintenance cost to keep it going has gotten too prohibitive). Glad I got to ride it back in 2019, since I used to love it at Astroworld.
  19. Cant' say who as don't wanna get anyone in trouble. . . but I queried someone who would know, and the response was: "at the moment (as of staff training this pas weekend) it's SBNO, but apparently whispers from someone in park maintenance is that the plan is it will be removed ) darn. really glad I got to ride it when at SFStL in 2019
  20. as you note, Hornet was the "Mayan Mindbender" at Astroworld. while it's not near as fun when it was an indoors dark coaster (it was housed in a giant Mayan Pyramid at Astroworld), it's still wonderful it's one of only a couple of Astroworld rides that still exist and can be ridden (the only other one that's operating is Superman at SFStl - which was Dungeon Drop at Astroworld). So just for the historical purposes, it's great you got a ride on it.
  21. did we ever get any more info on what 15 rides were being removed? I know SkyBuckets from SFOG is one. and if you count LaRonde stopping work on Green Lantern for the year as another. .that's still only 2. what else has been noted?
  22. ^ line is long for front row of Judge, because (as you discovered) it's a terrible ride, unless in the front car. I prefer non wheel seat (row 2), but the station set up is silly, that the line for 1st car can hold things up. yah, Runaway Mountain is great fun, right? And you rode historic in Runaway Mine Train - 1st tubular steel track coaster !
  23. ^ I'm sorry, but the launch up the lift hill looks EXACTLY the same. it's slower cresting the hill because of an empty train (and the cold). I see no difference in the launch speed.
  24. ^ well, biggest in the area. . . only other things closer are family spinners.
  25. so late last year, the Circuit of the Americas F1 racetrack in Austin, out of the blue announced a new addition: COTAland - a kiddie carnival area, with a bunch of kiddie rides and a kiddie coaster: https://www.facebook.com/CircuitofTheAmericas/videos/216323643344037 it made sense, as they have a go-kart track there, and several other more adult things (Concert Venue, with bars, and the COtA tower, you can buy a ticket to go up and overlook the F1 track).. . . but really not much for the kids to do (other than the kiddie track, or a ride along with an adult in the two seater carts on the adult track) but there have been a lot of queries as to if they are going to be getting any "adult" rides. . and the answer is "yes" as several things have been getting teased (on local pages, and by the manager of the COTAland site) - yes, mainly carnival type flats, but that's still SOMETHING permanent in the Austin area. (as opposed to the Carnival that comes with the annual rodeo). well, just about an hour ago, it was revealed that COTAland is getting a ride that is coming from a UK park, and they are going to refurbish it and give it a new name. And after a "word scramble" guessing game, it has been revealed that it will apparently be "Raptor Attack" from Lightwater Valley that they just shut down in 2020. the actual unscramble was: Anton Schwarzkopf Wildcat so yes, it's going to be a traveling carnival coaster, but so what? Austin is getting a Schwarzkopf Wildcat. how cool is that?
