if you go to the linked website about the deal, it has this under the "Soak City" description: Soak City Come explore the coolest way to beat the heat this summer at Soak City at Kings Dominion. Soak City is the premier waterpark in the region and features 20-acres of water activities for guests of all ages, two gigantic wave pools, exhilarating water slides, a lazy river, a children's splash pad and much more. Soak City is included free with park admission to Kings Dominion. bolding is mine. so yeah. .trying to make it more attractive. (would be nicer if they included parking tho!)

Did I miss it? or did they not include pricing? It's $135 for 4 days (2 at Busch/Water Country USA and 2 at Kings Dominion) or $106 for one day at Busch and one at Kings Dominion. http://wtvr.com/2015/05/05/kings-dominion-busch-gardens-deal/ huh. . so it seems I maybe still got a better deal with the Bounce Pass (that doesn't include KD, but does have BGW, Water Country, and Colonial Williamsburg, with parking included at all, for 7 days). ($125/person)

Lines can get long: but so worth the wait. -
We went on a cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale. Round trip from Austin was $180/person. From Houston it was over $400 per person. (seriously, the Houston people coming wanted to drive up here and fly from Austin). same with our upcoming Washington DC trip.. a friend from Dallas is considering joining us. Our tix roundtrip from Austin? Less than $400 each. From Dallas? $650 round trip. Austin is simply cheaper to fly into/out of. . which is why folks going to San Antonio often fly into Austin as well. Edit: just for giggles, I went ahead and compared Southwest airlines from Vegas to Dallas and to Austin (using June 15 & June 22). all things equal, pulling cheapest option (even if late at night for gotta get away fares). to Dallas: $344 ($175 & $169) to Austin: $345 ($193 & $152). tho if you go with what times work for you, the flight to Dallas could go up to $716 ($373 + $343 most expensive), while the flight to Austin always stayed below $684 ($339 + $345 most expensive) where they get you is that car rental tho: (compact car via Dollar Rent a Car) Dallas: $401.41 / Week Austin: $316.49 / Week $100 savings right there. factor in the most expensive flights?.. you can save ~$140 flying into Austin. but yeah. . rates are gonna change depending on where/when you fly. . so check out those. regardless, I would STILL recommend flying in/out and rent/return at the same airport, and just do Texas in a big triangle

if you're able to stay late, the lines on the flats *even the super unique ones* got really short towards the end of the day. we visited during a weekday, and really, the only thing with a line was Exterminator. (honestly, I HATED it, but the theming is well done, and my partner loved it. . . it's an indoors (DARK) spinning Mouse. Jack Rabbit was by far our favorite ride in the park, but we loved the flume, Racer, Thunderbolt, Ghostwood Estates, Kangaroo (it looks so, so stupid, but man is it fun!), and even the Paratrooper was running a fun program. The Kennywood Whip was quite good too. also don't miss Garfield's Nightmare. .a tunnel of love type ride, that's kinda hidden (you need to go up, and over a bridge to get to it).. quite fun with some nifty old time sets inside (in 3D!) oh, and do NOT miss the Potato Patch fries (stand in front of Thunderbolt). . .just cheesy, bacony goodness! -
That said, here's what *I* would do: Day 1: Fly into Austin, rent car, hop on I35 and drive to Dallas/FW and check into Best Western across street from SFoT. Day 2: full day at SFoT Day 3: check out of hotel and drive from Dallas thru Houston and get a hotel on the Seawall in Galveston (~4 - 4 1/2 hour drive). Check out Moody Gardens http://www.moodygardens.com/ (if not too exhausted). Evening at Pleasure Pier. http://www.pleasurepier.com/ Day 4: check out of hotel and spend morning at Schlitterbahn Galveston http://www.schlitterbahn.com/ , and back to the Pleasure Pier if there's anything you wanted to do in the daytime (tho the pier is much prettier at night). Head back towards Houston (45 minutes), stopping at the Kemah Boardwalk to ride the Boardwalk Bullet (or anything else you wanted to ride), http://www.kemahboardwalk.com/ and if you've never been NASA can be a fun afternoon http://spacecenter.org/. (if not interested in NASA, it's an easy skip, and just continue thru Houston to San Antonio (~3 1/2 hours) and check into Hotel along outer loop of city. Day 5: Full day at SFFT (check out San Antonio Riverwalk/Alamo at night if not too exhausted) Day 6: Full day at SeaWorld (check out San Antonio Riverwalk/Alamo at night if not too exhausted) Day 7: check out of SA hotel, drive towards Austin (~1:10 drive total) stopping to ride the wooden shuttle coaster (it's really going to be the only thing to keep you there unless you want to drive go-karts), then spend rest of day at Schlitterbahn http://www.schlitterbahn.com/ in New Braunfels. drive remaining 30 minutes into Austin and grab hotel for night -- check out famous 6th street clubs if not completely wiped out. Day 8: Return car, fly back home. that's how I'd do it. . one big triangle starting in Austin to hit all the Texas fun stuff
-
you would save a lot of money if you fly into Austin, and rent a car here. Then use Austin as your "base-camp" (SFoT ~4 hours from Austin; Schlitterbahn ~30 minutes from Austin, SFFT & SeaWorld (as well as the Alamo & Riverwalk) ~ 1:10 from Austin). you'll get a cheaper flight, and a cheaper car rental. just sayin.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

awesome idea. it DOES already exist for BGW, WC, free parking at both, and Colonial Williamsburg, for 7 days from 1st use. I know, because we bought these. . they call them "bounce" tickets. Yea, but that's still missing KD. I think the main point here is for a ticket that includes both KD and BGW, with a couple other attractions/waterparks as a bonus. hopefully, I can 'add in" KD once they announce. tho it's nice the current bounce tix include parking -

at the very least, they are all right next to each other. . . so I'd go: Black Widow, Swing Shot, then Bayern Kurve. tho if you want to do Phantom's Revenge, add that one in FIRST. when we went, we got in line for Phantom's Revenge as it hadn't opened yet and got a ride in very quickly once it opened, and then wen to Black Widow which still hadn't formed much of a line yet. if you are planning to do Exterminator tho. . do that one either 1st or 2nd, as the line on that got LONG.. even on the slow day we were there. -

Best Historical Park

I love Knoebel's too, and as the parks are within a 4 hour drive of each other, plan a trip to hit both (as well as HersheyPark in the middle). but Kennywood has National Historic Sites thruout the park, and several "only one of it's kind" rides in the USA. so yeah, Kennywood takes the prize over Knoebel's for "historical" park for me, tho Knoebel's is very, very good too. -

of course, we've already bought our "bounce" pass that gets us into BGW/WC/and Colonial Williamsburg for 7 days in a row. . . but we haven't bought KD tixs yet.. maybe there will be an option to add in KD when we pick up our bounce pass. guess we'll see! -

Cedar Point Discounts
bert425 replied to mrhusky67's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
are you a club TPR member? if yes, ask in the Club TPR boards, since Cedar Point is listed as "details coming soon" as to Kings Island, they are supposed to be listed on Tickets at Work, but I don't see em either. I did find this tho: http://www.retailmenot.com/view/visitkingsisland.com?c=6843865 which is $17 off if you buy online.
