  1. For me it depends on many factors, the park, the operations, crowds & lines, and definitely who you're with. I had a few trips where there was one person in our group that complained to the max, "I'm tired, I don't wanna walk, I don't wanna ride that" to the point where it dragged the whole group and soured the mood. Thank goodness for Enthusiasts like us to hang with!
  2. Rolercstrluvr & I stopped by the area a bit to check out Gold Striker progress & other park happenings, including getting different shots of the park from several different locations, such as from the San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail to the new Santa Clara Parking Garage across the street from the stadium which is now open. We literally walked almost the entire perimeter of the park and got a good workout. Also got to check out the 49ers Stadium which is moving along great. Some news to report: more of GS final bents are being worked on and getting installed, the front gate ticket booths were getting a fresh coat of paint from top to bottom, majority of the parking lot light fixtures with the faded letters have been taken out & and more spray paint markings have extended all the way to the disabled lot, most likely the parking lot maybe getting a major overhaul is my best guess. Here's a few quick pics from my phone to tie you all over, will do a large update when I get home later from pics from my Nikon! More bents being installed & assembled Santa Clara Stadium from the other side
  3. Glad to see things are going full speed! Before you know it it will be testing and Opening day will be here before you know it!
  4. Sorry to burst the bubble so soon, but I checked the permit in parenthesis: "See BLD2012-30518 for future work" and it's for the Subway permit.
  5. Rolercstrluvr checked out the GS site yesterday (Wednesday) and was able to speak to one of the construction workers. He was informed the rest of the lift will be completed in the next couple of weeks and that the station will be up next month. Also work was being done on Grizzly...
  6. Great to see they're continuing to spruce up the fading rides, a little definitely does a lot...
  7. Great news! I hope to be able to make it as September sounds like a great time to do it in, and it would be my first ever TPR event!
  8. Looks awesome, can't wait till this is released!
  9. If it's that girl with the dirty blonde hair and the surfer talk vibe, she was hella funny, definitely made time fly when were in line for V2 over the summer! "If you like this ride my name is Kaley and this is V2, if not my name is Keisha and this Kong" lol
  10. Opening Day is coming even closer when the walls start coming down...
  11. Fun last visit of the "extended" season, and a rather wet one! Can't believe March will just be around the corner and the new season will be here in 2 1/2 months! Some pics below, until the next update! First Onto Goldy, some busy working bees on a Saturday.. Appear to be doing more track work.... But let's get our "Broken-Wrist That I caused myself but I have no personal responsibility so I'm gonna sue, oh wait I can't anymore? The Ride!" "Bump!" Just doing what the sign and the operator says! No head-on bumping on Heather's Head! Sorry Billy, you can't sue anymore! Waiting for the next bump.... After out Rue Le Dodge Victory Celebration Ride, onto funky looking lanterns! YOLA! You Only Live.....ALONE? Stadium Progress.. New Parking garage... Heather clearly loves Ghetto Fun Wheel! Goldy Nighttime madness! And ending our last visit with Goldy & The Star Tower, until March!
  12. You mean bad for those without common sense and personal responsibility and the lawyers who represent them.... Does he realize it's 2013 and not 1913?
  13. Thanks again Kevin for the pics! Ah the nostalgia and all the fun memories working those years when all those attractions were still there, plus getting the chance to operate all of them. Despite all the removals I have no doubt that CF is finally getting CGA back on track to it's potential. Here's to 2013 and beyond!
  14. Thanks Kevin for the pics, nice to stroll down memory lane. Unfortunately I never got to ride the original V2 as I missed the 2000 & 2001 seasons but returned in 2002. Personally I like how our V2 is unique as it's the only one of it's kind in the world with the 45degree angle...
  15. Had a great time with AngryGumball & the gang again, can't believe this year is just about over, here's more pics below, enjoy! Star Tower's soon to be new entrance Very happy Enthusiasts! Now on to Super Slide O'Death! brought to you by Armor All! Ahhhhhhhh! Annnndddd done! Flying Eagles Fun! And ending with the tallest building in the world.....fun size!
  16. Just noticed on CGA's website they edited the GS Logo a bit with the Gold miner guy holding a lantern instead of a pistol now... http://www.cagreatamerica.com/goldstriker NEW: OLD:
  17. Steel Wheels! Best news I've heard all day!
  18. Had a great time with the gang and meeting new TPR members! Looking forward to the next meetup, and to remind myself to take out the SD card from my laptop before leaving with my camera!
  19. Yay more new TPR peeps I haven't met! I think I'll bring my DSLR as well as I don't have any shots of Superman from it yet, and plus with our group growing it'll be great to catch all the memories! I usually come early right before opening so how about everyone just meeting right underneath V2 after passing through the metal detectors before 2, therefore we can figure out who needs tickets and what not? Can't wait!
  20. When me, RawkinCoaster & Rolercstrlvr went this past summer on Roadrunner Express we all had our own car, and to my surprise we didn't get kicked out and we all rode without any strange looks from the GP! Looking forward to Sunday, rain or shine! Will be my 50th ride on Superman (hopefully), though I'll have to bring a big jacket with zipper pockets to carry my crap, as I usually leave my bag in the car as I don't wanna deal with their Fluffy Bunnies.
  21. Had a great time at Global Winter Wonderland with the gang. Goldy as you saw above is progressing fast and is looking great. Pics below, enjoy! Christmas is in the air at CGA... Tree up front... Goldy in the dark! Crazy banking... Goldy peaking out of the covered fence.. Funky mushroom tree lanterns.. Cool Flight Deck behind the open gates..... Carnie ride time! Up close and personal with the Three Stooges... Candy Cane Lane Backstage Walkway Thingy.. Carnie Food Super Garlic Fries & Super Chicken Teriyaki Bowl.... InvertiCastle Bubbles! Laser Show! & Super Snowy Finale! Heather Approved! Creative display! Obstacle Course Fun Zone! No comment.... Fire juggler lady.. More goldy.. TPR members get your gun... Zip ties on Carny Rides! (Tilt-O-Whirl) Stadium progress Hard to see but at the top are a tiny lighted Christmas Tree & an American Flag as a milestone for the Stadium was made as it just recently was topped off!
  22. The beginning of the ride freaked me out as it started going real fast, but the rest of the ride was relaxing. Can't forget that trademark whirring sound, just like when BART trains depart the station (Bay Area Folks know what I'm talking about)
  23. Great to see some progress over the stormy weekend, kudos to the workers! Love the twisty pic too
  24. Yay for steel track! At this rate it should be done by the end of the year, and soon will be testing!
