They do. It's called Scarowinds. 5:30 is probably the cutoff for regular hours, and then the Scarowinds activities commence that night. -
So, I couldn't find this anywhere on their website. Does BGT do souvenir cups with cheap refills for the day you buy it? I know they had one last year shaped like Falcon's Fury, but I just wanted to make sure. I like to have a drink to carry around with me throughout the day and I'm going for the first time next Friday.

The interviewer is bragging about it on her Twitter account too. She insists she was right to be horrible to him. -
2014 Theme Park Attendance Report
megametal replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was surprised to see that Seaworld San Diego saw a bigger attendance drop than Orlando did. I mean, most of Blackfish is focused on Tilikum at Orlando. I think the Seaworld numbers will improve next year with Mako and lets not forget that this past year was brutal due to Blackfish backlash. (And I think 2 Orlando animals died in the past week or two, btw.) Also, I'm always surprised Kings Dominion is never on the top 20 American parks... -

A splash battle would be cool. They could have that open to both water park and non-water park guests. One of those fast current versions of lazy rivers... I'd be bemused if they built yet another wave pool. I've never understood why they kept the old one after the new one was built, myself. It's so small. -

What they really need are more flat rides. I doubt they will get any though. -

I sometimes feel like Cedar Fair considers wooden coasters a nuisance. Actually I think most chain parks do. That's why Six Flags is RMCing their troublesome woodies. I don't understand the love for waterparks the past 15 years or so either. Especially when they all add the same slide structures. All I get out of waterparks are an unsanitary feeling and sunburn.. and lots of long slow lines for a few second slide. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

It'd be more probable that the park closes Shockwave and takes the old Nickelodeon area also to use for a compact but cool new coaster. If they need more space than that, I'm sure they could build over paths if they need to. I wouldn't be surprised to see Blue Ridge Tollway either lose it's trees or them to close it and use it's land as well... (Though I wouldn't want that. I don't ride those cars anymore, but people love em.) -

The Hurler coasters were good in the 1990s. Great, knee-bruising airtime on the little hills and great laterals on the turns. However, about 2004 for KD and 2000 for Carowinds, they got really really rough, then neutered by Cedar Fair, and now the turnaround's been retracked and tghe first drop un-neutered so the sirtime should be back, right? -

The big problem with Thunder Road is that its entrance is in County Fair, which is the ugliest most dead portion of the park right now. I mean you have to go in the general area to get to Afterburn, but Thunder Road is like behind the bumper cars. I rode it since it was redone, and was surprised at how much airtime you get if you sit towards the front on the left side track. The right side is pretty bumpy. Perhaps they plan to tear down one side of the ride? A lot of time they don't even open one side anyway. -

The new map kinda makes the park look less circular. Makes it look more like Valleyfair. -

Is that switchback queue actually covered?! If so, Cedar Fair has my respect for that. It gets hot as blazes in that park due to the lack of trees, so covered queues are a must. Hope they have some mist fans there too. Waiting on concrete in the hot, humid Carolina sun isn't the most fun in the world. (Probably helps drink sales, though!) -
With Ringling Bros. getting rid of their elephants in increments over the next few years, I notice a lot of the news programs used it to shame Sea World. (Surprise, surprise.) I'm sure Sea World could survive without Orcas, but I don't think that'd be enough for these rabblerousers. They'd then go after the dolphins. Then the performing walrus and sea lions. Then the notion of keeping any animal in captivity. There's never an end for these busybodies. Even if Sea World did all of that, got rid of all the animals, these people would say "You shouldn't visit because of what they did in the past. They support animal slavery." Oy, the world today.

First Disney decides to close Pirates of the Caribbean this summer, now Busch Gardens has to close their safari train. Oh well, at least with Busch Gardens it isn't a huge loss as I'll be going to Animal Kingdom anyway and it's to make way for construction of a new attraction. I kind of expect the serengheti to be phased out in a few years anyway. They'll probably try to make Tampa more like Williamsburg with just a few animal attractions here and there. (Basically all of them except the Serengheti plains.)

So I was looking at the closing times for the week I'll be going in June. They close at 6 PM in June (18th) on a Thursday? Why the heck does the park close so early? I'm not even sure I could get everything I want to do done at the park in the 8 hours they allow! Even if I switch it to Friday, they only stay open until 7.

Jeez, sorry I even mentioned it. I said I got it, understand why it's being put there but I personally don't like the placement, but you just cannot stop. -

True. Still think it'll look ugly right there. However, I know that's the last thing on Cedar Fair's minds.
