  1. Well, I didn't officially include it in my list anyway. I just included it sidelined for the few that do consider it a floorless. (I don't.)
  2. I've been on 3 of them (4 if you count Griffon). My rankings: 1. Bizarro at SFGAdv 2. Dominator at KD 3. Hydra at DP (Forceless, rattly and slow) Griffon would be just above Hydra in the mix.
  3. I voted Verbolten because it's closest to me, and the indoor part intrigues me. I tend to have a lot of fun with family coasters lately. (Spinning mice, mid-sized woodies, etc) I am also excited about Apocalypse (I like the new colors, and it's another standup to add to my count), Dollywood's new coaster, X-Flight and Skyrush... In reverse order.
  4. So does this mean that there will be even less woods around The Grizzly now?
  5. ^The only thing I could think of being effected is the Sky Tower... Possibly Drop Tower as well.
  6. Maybe just call it Inferno or just plain Scorcher without the Maryland in front of it? Heck, it could be a clone of Georgia Scorcher if they decided that Iron Wolf just was not a salvageable experience.
  7. ^ Well, the poster admitted they could do that, but that he didn't want it to look cluttered, which things do when you build over and under other things too much, I would suppose. (But I'm on the east coast, so what would I know.)
  8. Are any rides/attractions being removed for this does it look like? It looked to me like only maybe Speed City Raceway might be.
  9. I got to ride it today too. I liked the slow ascent and the way it spiraled to give everyone the same views. Also, even though the videos show where it starts slowing about halfway down the tower, it's hardly noticable when you ride. Had a very short line throughout the day, and the guests seemed really surprised to see it open, even asking the height measurers in front if it was open to everybody or just a special group of people. I gotta say, when Verbolten opens next year, that section of the park is going to have more crowds than it's had in about 20 years (the year Drachen Fire opened). Also, the fireworks for Illuminights were great.
  10. I've often wondered why Leviathan has never been used as a coaster name before. It always seemed like an obvious coaster name to me. That and a wooden coaster through the woods called Sasquatch or Bigfoot.
  11. I think a lot of people who go to SFA, the only standup they've ridden will have been Shockwave at KD. There is no way Iron Wolf hurts you more than Shockwave, so it'd be an improvement.
  12. Well, they don't own the rights to Spiderman or The Avengers, so I believe Batman's the only one left. At least I don't think the new Superman comes out next year.
  13. If we do get a windseeker just be lucky we're getting it as it could be worse,we could be like MIA who in all likelyhood isn't getting a thing for 2012. Well, I'd prefer the SkyScreamers like the Six Flags parks got to the Windseekers. A bit more thrilling looking. Of course, no matter what it is, a new ride is good I suppose.
  14. I don't want Windseeker either. I think that'd fit better at Carowinds. KD should get a few smaller flats instead of one big one.
  15. I went on Wednesday and it was a great day to be there. Everything was no more than a station wait, even Kingda Ka (though it broke down numerous times). I guess people were scared off by the forecast, but the first few hours of the day were sunny and warm, then it got cloudy with drizzle at times. Didn't start to actually rain until 5, and that was for like 10 minutes, and then it went back to drizzle until 9 o'clock when they decided to close a half hour early. I'm glad I didn't pre-pay for a Flash Pass, as it would have been quite useless. They ran all the coasters, even with the rain, which is more than I can say for what Dorney Park did 2 days earlier. (they even tried Kingda Ka in the rain, but I think that's what caused it's technical difficulties later on.) I gotta say, they may be slow to dispatch trains, but they try really hard to keep things open, and they had some of the nicest theme park employees I've witnessed in quite a while.
  16. Steel - Top Thrill Dragster (hopefully Kingda Ka in a few days) Wood - Son of Beast
  17. So I'm going to Great Adventure on Wednesday with a friend. We are going to get a regular Flash Pass and stay from opening to close. I haven't been since 1997 when I was 12, and I know the park has changed a lot since then, both for the better and for the worse. Do you think we should be able to get everything in with a reg. flash pass? I like to do flat rides as well (and I know the park only has like 5) and take some time to just soak up the theme park atmosphere. Also I'm guessing crowds on a Wednesday should be some of the lightest of the week, correct? I've read the park tips in the park database here, but does anyone have a suggestion as to how to navigate the park? Should I start with El Toro or start with Kingda Ka (if it's running)?
  18. ^^ Griffon is intrusive. It makes the park look smaller than it used look to due to the removal of trees. But yeah, I don't find Mach Tower to stick out like a sore thumb. People probably said the same thing about Alpengeist.
  19. Looking at the park using Google Earth, I'm trying to find out where this parcel of land they bought is. I know it's adjacent to the parking lot somewhere, but I'm not good with calculating what 6 acres looks like either. Can anyone show the boundaries? I think the current overflow lot is a prime spot for expansion, so that report is good news. However, yeah, 2013 for Invertigo? MUST be a misprint.
  20. ^With the quality of the water used for Diamond Falls, I'm not. I just wish they'd put the entrance to it in The Grove instead of Congo. Now Time Shaft... that annoys me.
  21. Well, I figure they have a lost continent type feel, which is what they were originally going for, as the Lost World was the name of the mountain originally. Anaconda could fit that, but not Congo. (Anacondas are from South America.) I realize that we have Paramount actually to blame for the themeing screw ups, but I don't see CF making it better. I don't really get why, when they have hundreds of acres to expand upon, they feel like they have to continue boxing the park in and mess up what little themeing there is left.
  22. I'm wondering if they should just totally abandon the area themeing concept, or if they should turn the FOF, BLSC, Anaconda, and I305 (possibly Scrambler too...) into a new catchall Action Zone or something. They are all there together, and none follow a Congo theme like the south side of the area does (Volcano, Avalanche, The Crypt). I'd like to see better themeing, but I know Cedar Fair isn't apt to do that.
  23. ^ Ah, okay. Only been there once since they added it. I could see Windseeker going there. I agree, we do need flats. I just hope KD doesn't decide to take out the flyers or anything. Does anyone see them moving the old water park slides to the other side of the Rebel Yell at any point? They could expand The Grove into that area. Would be a nice spot for a new coaster and a few flats.
  24. Isn't El Dorado where Hypersonic was?
  25. Well, we also haven't added one in 17 years. It's about time for a new one.
