  1. ^ And Arrow hasn't made anymore of that ride in about the same amount of time. This is B&M we're talking about here. We're also talking about Six Flags, who I don't think want problem rides like X2 anymore. Besides, X2 is ugly and X-Flight is purdy.
  2. ^ and ^^ Well, I think we're trying to be realistic here.
  3. I've never noticed Dominator rattle, and I ride it frequently. Green Lantern was forceful, but not rough to me... The only rough, rattly B&M I've been on is Vortex at Carowinds.
  4. I'd say a better comparison would be Dorney and Hershey.
  5. I was just thinking, since KI closed The Crypt this year, would it be possible for them to move the Giant Top Spin (without the themeing and building) to Carowinds, and to plop it in that grassy area in front of Intimidator next to GR8 SK8? Or did they trash the ride altogether? I hear it didn't work well.
  6. I was just thinking that a well-themed wing-rider would be great for Busch Gardens next coaster. (I know, I know, we have at least another 2 years to wait.) Ireland doesn't have a coaster yet, and looking at google maps, there's a large wooded section behind Europe In The Air or whatever it's called. The coaster could weave through there and go over the bridge from the bus parking lots... I'm sure the next coaster would go where Drachen Fire was or something though.
  7. I'm looking forward to riding this on my trip in July. Looks like it's a perfect fit for the park, and I'm pretty impressed with the themeing.
  8. ^ Thanks, ladies. Hope the question wasn't stupid. I just don't go to waterparks that often, and they tend to have different sets of rules, so thought I'd better be prepared.
  9. Sorry to pause the X-Flight talk for a minute, but I have a question about Hurricane Harbor and one about food. Last year when I went to a waterpark for the first time in about 5 years, my feet got blistered within just a few minutes from going back and forth from cool water to hot concrete. I decided this year I need to wear water shoes. However, I know they are not allowed on the slides. Do the slides here have cubbies at the entrance to put water shoes in? Also, how much does a milkshake and a burger with fries usually run you at Johnny Rockets? Around $20?
  10. America going back to having, what, 3 Schwarzkopf shuttle loops again? (Assuming the other Greezed Lightnin' at Bluegrass Boardwalk reopens.) Maybe I'll finally get to ride one sometime. Been meaning to visit New Mexico. Sounds like another good reason to go. Always great to have another Schwarzkopf around too.
  11. Here's a few more maps. Will take me a bit longer to do the bigger ones, as I have to go into photoshop or something and meld 2 or 3 sections together to make one map on most. Kennywood 2008 Knoebels 2003 Knoebels 2011
  12. ^ When I rode SOB in 2008 I didn't feel any pain. I found the layout kinda boring, but I never know what pain people are talking about.
  13. I don't know why, but I still feel a bit "meh" about it. Could be that it looks to be such a short ride. Thrill factor has nothing to do with it.
  14. ^ To be fair, the B:TR station house/inside queue at SFGAdv smelled really rank when I visited there last year too. Possibly just coincidence though. I've never been to Magic Mountain.
  15. It's kinda sad, but not a big surprise. Most people probably see it as too much like a carnival coaster and skip it. I believe there's still one at Keansburg Amusement Park in NJ if anyone is missing the experience. It was, let's face it, an eyesore, even if it did give a fun ride and was one of a dwindling number of coasters still around designed by our favorite coaster designer. These comments about Schwarzkopf coasters being near the end of their lives kinda concerns me. Does this mean Whizzer, Revolution, Mindbender, and Mind Bender will be scrapped in the next decade? Or is Gerstlauer working to make that less of an issue?
  16. Just thought I'd inform you that the SFA 2000 map link shows a picture of a boat ride instead of the map. Also that under the 2011 SFOT map listing it shows a 2008 SFOG map, and under the 2008 SFOG map listing it shows the 2011 SFOT map. Just thought you'd like to know.
  17. I have some mid 90s KD maps, a 2000 SFA, a 1997 SFGAdv and some late 90s Carowinds maps amongst others that I was looking to scan anyway. For now, here's the 2000 SFA map, and a 1997 SFGAdv one. Six Flags Great Adventure 1997 Six Flags America 2000
  18. ^ I am so getting that when I go there. Everything is better wrapped in bacon.
  19. I haven't been on many Top Spins (just The Crypt and the one at SFGAdv). Is The Crypt's program considered a tame one or an intense one? It's one flip, a fake out, and then 4 quick flips I believe. I always ride on the side facing Volcano, because the other side REALLY gets me sick.
  20. Just got to say today was a perfect day to be at KD. No lines (except for Boo Blasters), great weather... I got in everything with re-rides by 4 o'clock! Season pass processing was the fastest it's ever been. Now if only I could find out why starting last year I feel so queasy after riding The Crypt. Never used to happen. Guess I'll have to start taking Dramamine before I go to the parks.
  21. ^ Caution: Low Clearance? Should be a nice headchopper!
  22. I like that they're doing the free drinks, sunscreen, etc. here like at HW. In fact, I'd like to see other small chains/independent parks start doing this.
  23. Hmm. Website now says the ride opens "early summer" and not late May. Looks like Screamscape's sources were right? Delayed. Of course, if it's to add all the cool themeing mentioned above, I'm all for a delay. Won't be open when I go Memorial Day, but I'll go back late summer to get my ride. Glad SFA is trying to do this right. If it gets good results maybe corporate will spend some more money on the park.
  24. God, I wish they'd put an American Thunder clone or something a bit better than what we have already where the Hurler is. It used to be fun back in the 1990s, but it's just a bruise machine now, and the layout is uninteresting.
