1. This is a rather interesting trip report. I found myself entertained by this "mystery". Anyways, the culprit was Prince Desmond who had the horses as the test riders on teh Big Dipper. Also, was this all a Carousel Museum? It seems like half the stuff in there are random antiques.
2. Not surprising whatsoever. Hopefully, Hersheypark will replace it with some ProSlide goodness.
3. I don't think they'll remove the Sea Lion Stadium as Shouka just left and SFDK will probably put more of an effort into preserving what is left of the marine life shows. Though, the sea lions might be able to move to the recently re-named Pacific Stadium.
4. So, it seems like LLF is getting Pirate Shores. I think this would be a great addition as the California version has tons of people in the summer and long lines even though the water park is right next to it.
5. There would be enough room for a full-scale dive machine if they demolished the KOD building and put the 2nd half of the ride back there.
6. I've always been fascinated by dive coasters and wouldn't mind one either. And they could easily fit it in just the place of PP! I made a VERY ROUGH sketch of how they could use the land of Boomerang and KOD were removed. While making it I could have easily not used Boomerang's area of the KOD area.... red= chain hill black=actual layout purple=station green= possible queue? Even though, I have to admit that is one of the roughest sketches I have seen ( ), I think a Dive Machine would work in Knott's as they are pretty compact, pack a lot of thrills, and are intense, as I've heard. Plus, the GP will eat it up faster than GateKeeper as the GP probably never seen a ride similar to this in their lifetime. Also, they are generally cheap for their size ($15 million is Griffon's price tag claims RCDB). So, I can see a Dive Machine like Krake replacing PP or be in the near future, but I'm still hoping for a giga.
7. I think you're underestimating the amount of size that a giga takes up, with all its extra speed requiring much wider turns than can be handled in that spot. Just for reference, comparing I305 to the entire Boardwalk at Knott's: This is why I think the giga would not be built by Intamin, but instead by B&M. B&M can make an out-and-back layout (as they usually do) and have the coaster go over rides. Yes, I prefer Intamin, but B&M makes more sense. I usually don't like re-posting an image I made previously, but back 14 pages I made this layout of how a B&M out-and-back coaster could fit into KBF:
8. So far: -Six Flags Discovery Kingdom -Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk -Legoland California -Belmont Park Going to visit: -Six Flags Magic Mountain -Knott's Berry Farm
9. I knew that the #1 coaster on the final episode would be MF. I always find it funny that all the "well informed GP" believe that the Millennium Force is the #1 coaster in the world. Reverse the order and you get the correct ranking.
10. I agree, if Cedar Point wanted to cater to the enthusiasts, we would already see another Giga like I-305, an Aquatrax, and a Mega-Lite, all of course built by Intamin. I think GateKeeper is a very good addition to the park and will put new life in that area. There are some enthusiasts that don't want the ride to be built, but you'll see them in line.
11. Perhaps SFDK will get a Zierer Family Drop coaster, like Polar X-Plorer. They could put in the Land or Sea sections and theme it either to the wildlife or sealife (depending on which land it is in). Once can dream.
12. Construction seems to be going smoothly. The Prudential Turn is almost finished, but it seems the design of the Prudential Turn is different from the original design. (Photo Credits: CGA, LA Times) While browsing the Au13 construction photos on their facebook, I found this comment: Who did this, I know one of you guys did it.
13. Ever since Early July, Carlsbad had really good weather that is sunny and the right temperature.
14. ^^ & ^^^, Can one of you scan the park map and give it to Larry? I would really like to see a PGA park map w/ Stealth on it on the Park Index. Thanks. I hope they won't make the park map ugly like what happened to Kings Island & Carowinds, I like the current map style.
15. SFDK probably has a high water table due to the close proximity to Lake Chabot, so I doubt they could do a tunnel that deep.
16. Doesn't that Johnny Rockets hold the record for being the largest Johnny Rockets in the world? I wouldn't complain if they did end up tearing down though. I guess not anymore: http://www.rmgtmagazine.com/content/worlds-largest-johnny-rockets-opens-dominican-republic If they were to demo the KOD/Johnny Rockets bldg, they could re-open Johnny Rocket's somewhere in the park, perhaps putting it in the Marketplace. ---------- About Screamin' Swing being removed, I think it could be replaced by Scrambler to fill up the space until they'll have a better use for it. It was talked about on this thread a few pages back how it is in storage waiting to be re-assembled.
17. Actually, a 180 degree drop is possible if it is mega trimmed, like the El Locos. I guess you can say the S&S Screamin' Squirrel has a 180 degree drop:
18. I usually would support a family coaster, but Knott's already has a LOT of family coasters: Jaguar, Pony Express, & Sierra Sidewinder. I honestly think that PP will be replaced by a thrill ride as the Boardwalk is where most of the thrill rides are & the park's last big thrilling ride is Silver Bullet built in '04. It may not be a giga, but I don't think they would take out one of the park's biggest thrills and replace it with a family-friendly ride, that just doesn't sound like Cedar Fair. I think 2013 will be big for Knott's.
19. Sky Screamer. Since they recently got DDD, I would expect them to get a cheaper ride for 2013.
