Theme Parks in December/Jan
Aceattack52 replied to AusCoasterFan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Unfortunately most parks are going to be closed except for, of course, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knott's Berry Farm, and those Florida parks. If you don't want to hit SFMM or KBF, the parks in Florida will work out well for you. Other than that, nothing else is really open. I wish the best of luck. -
OH LOOK AT THAT! Ninja isn't going to be able to screw up anyone's neck/head or ruin their day because of it. Even though it's closed, it's still not making any money for the park, which is pretty funny. It has suffered from very low rideship for the last few seasons, I wonder what could be in store for it since it's closed. It is too bad they weren't really ready for opening day, hopefully they will get their act together by the time spring break comes around; that's when I'm planning on going. How were the crowds?

Favorite Summers/Dinn Coaster Poll
Aceattack52 replied to djw44's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ I know EXACTLY what you're talking about when you say it was a slow, bumpy and all round mess. They took 30% of the track off and put on the topper track before the start of last season. The parts they put it on is just all right and since they didn't put topper track on more of it, it just stayed an ok ride. Melinda Ashcraft answered someone's question during Deep South Bash last year and she said "there will be more retracking done in this coming off season and the coming years." The Cyclone's trains seem outdated and beaten as well; could that have anything to do with it? -

Did you ride it before or after it was retracked? The layout is just fine, but it just seems like it's deteriorating faster than other wooden coasters of its age. I agree that it's possible Six Flags isn't taking the best of care of it, but could there also be something in the construction of it? I.E. some members cause the load not to be evenly distributed and therefore wears down the structure more? That would certainly be Summers-Dinn's fault. I'm just throwing out ideas here. -
^ I'm not sure of which markings you're referring to, but they probably are for more topper track. Last year during Deep South Bash, Melinda addressed a question someone had about the topper track and she said yes, we are looking to finish the entire ride with the new track. "Right now we only have 30% done in the areas with the most wear, but we are looking to get a lot more done in the off season and coming years." Hopefully information on this will appear along with the SkyScreamer photos in someone's trip report from today.

Carowinds 70's Theme Song?????
Aceattack52 replied to kitkat12's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ It certainly seems possible that both songs could have even done by the same people. It could have been a professional company specializing in custom theme songs ect. That's why it sounds so good and flows so well. -
Electric Fields [RCT2]
Aceattack52 replied to historyfreak92's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Looks pretty good-nice array of quality rides. -
SkyScreamer pictures would be great! I can't imagine they're not at least done with the tower yet, that seems like the easier part. They probably haven't done much in terms of installing the car and electrical and all that good stuff but the tower should definitely be up or almost done. I can't wait to see it. I think the soonest I'll be able to head out there would be on Easter.

It was a pretty nice report you put together. Some of the pictures were very nice. I remember some people calling Outlaw Run a steel coaster, but by what you said about the steel wheels and that only the top layer of lamination for the track was all steel I'm still not sure why people classify it as a steel coaster, I wouldn't even call it a hybrid like the New Texas Giant is.

Carowinds 70's Theme Song?????
Aceattack52 replied to kitkat12's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I needed to install a different plug in for it to work. (I think it was some Quicktime thing.) I'm pretty sure it's the same thing as the one on YouTube. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] -

I certainly agree with this-I haven't met a Summers-Dinn coaster I've liked. -
Let us know how the crowds are; I hear its usually horrendous on opening weekend. Especially with the nice weather we've been having lately. It's going to be 70 again this weekend. Will do. SFOG tends to attract a LOT of school/church groups that come in by the bus load early in the season. Everybody and their mom will probably be there Saturday. Hopefully Sunday won't be AS bad. I thought the same thing last season, but it almost seems as if Saturdays are less crowded. There are a lot more church groups there on Sunday. They probably have their service in the morning and then everyone gets on the bus and heads over there. The other thing is that the kids that play sports will most likely have a game on a Saturday rather than a Sunday. So hopefully the families that would be willing to go would want to go on a Sunday rather than go on a Saturday and miss their son or daughter's sporting event. No doubt it's probably going to be crowded on opening day; my advice would be to hit Goliath and then go back to Superman first. Those are the most crowded at any point during the day. Mindbender is a great ride and what's really nice is that there won't be many people wanting to ride it later in the day, from about 4 o'clock on, so I would wait for Mindbender.

As for the park opening early, I haven't heard anything, ever, of the park opening early to better control the crowds. If you heard somewhere else, I would actually be interested in seeing that source because that's something I might want to do sometime. Or I would at least want to know to get there 30 minutes early. if you have the gold season pass, one of the perks listed for this year is early access to the park. i contacted them to find out what that means and they said they woudl allow gold pass holders in 10 minutes before general opening. So if somebody was talking about letting people in early that MIGHT me what they were talking about but it isn't to control crowds, but just a perk for the higher level season pass. Have they done anything like this in the past-I've never heard I then doing anything like this. It is a new perk this year. In fact, I think the gold pass itself is new this year. From the national site. The VIP entry is the early entry provision. Introducing the Gold Pass Most Six Flags parks have just launched the new GOLD PASS which includes FREE free parking with every pass, good at all Six Flags Theme Parks. You'll also get VIP entry into the park and an extra Bring-A-Friend Free ticket. Does anyone know if this is going on at any other Six Flags parks too?

The only thing I can think of is to search under "uploads".

If you have a video with 2 million views on it, you need to monetize now! I only have about 20 videos monetized, and I only have like 10,000 total views on all of them combined, and I get about $1 in every month on Google AdSense. It may not seem like a lot, but it is money coming in. Of course, when you have a lot of views, then you will make a good amount of money. Really there's not much regaurding weather or not it's worth it; all you have to do is set up the AdSense with Google and link it to your YouTube channel. Once you have done that, that's it. You can sit back and watch the revenue come in. Of course, there is work involved if your videos never become popular or people lose interest in them. At that point, you will need to come up with new stuff for people to see, so you will be able to start earning money already. By the way, I am a small time YouTube user, I only post a few new videos every year and I am pretty sure I'm a partner.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Aceattack52 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hmmmm see, this only seems possible if he himself were a spider and he was able to climb the structure. Any law enforcement would probably not want something like a giant spider running around; I bet they were looking for him. -
Top Roller Coaster Myths & Rumors!
Aceattack52 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ummmm what? I am missing something? If the car the farthest back was going faster than the others I would be VERY scared. You tell that friend of yours that a coaster isn't like a highway; your car can't pass someone else's.
