  1. Fantastic story Gaz, Congrats!!! You've given me the encouragement to start shedding my extra pounds and become a healthier individual.
  2. I've been opposed to any form of fast/flash pass in the past but I'm starting to warm up to the idea, I'm even going to get a gold FP at SFMM this Saturday. As for this article, I'm getting more and more excited to see what Ouimet has to offer. Hopefully he can give the CF parks a breath of fresh air thanks to the outsider perspective he's giving.
  3. Awesome pics!!! This just made me more excited for my two days at the mountain this weekend
  4. Being a fan of heavy music and my group of friends/family that know me as the metal head of the group my guilty pleasure is Nickelback ...Something about this ridiculously cliche radio pop rock band catches my ear
  5. No love for Alex Lifeson? SkyRush sounds like a boring generic name to me but if this thing turns out to be a mega lite then I could care less. I've always been interested in riding one of those.
  6. I had the same thing happen to me when I rode it around the time it opened. I sure hope it's fixed along with Tatsu by this weekend. I may have my Goliath credit already but it was so long ago I forgot the experience. Any update on Tatsu btw?
  7. Um.... HA!! I was half asleep when writing that, it doesn't sound that good does it?
  8. I've been dreaming for a woodie down the beach/parking lot for years now and think it would be a fantastic addition. As for mean streak, I am a fan of the ride but I'm not opposed to giving it the "rocky mountain makover". Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't texas giant close to the dame layout as MS? After watching vids on the new texas giant I don't see why it would be a bad idea.
  9. I hope Tatsu is up and running by next weekend when I'm there. Out of the coasters I haven't been on that's the one I cannot wait to ride.
  10. Thanks for moving the thread Robb! Ventura Harbor looks awesome, thanks for the tips guys!
  11. I had a Labatt's Blue. I don't care if it's like the Bud/Miller of Canada, it's soooo tasty
  12. That's the thing, I'm clueless. I've been to the LA area once when I was younger and don't remember much of it. After picking a random state park area on the coast and googling the drive I'm not sure we'll even bother, it came up as an hour drive one way with no traffic. After a 6+ hour drive from Phoenix that's not really what I want to do
  13. I agree completely. The past few times my whole family has gone there has been no issues. We will all ride the coasters the kids are able to and then once they're sick of those they stay with my mom in the kids areas and we go off to do our own thing.
  14. HI All, My name is Ben Harper I'm soon to be 24 (next month) living in Phoenix AZ. I was born and raised just outside of Detroit MI so I grew up going to CP every summer. Throughout middle school and high school I was BIG into coasters. Every family trip was planned around my obsession to ride the newest, biggest, baddest coaster of the year. I managed to make my way through only 11 different parks but racked up approximately 70 credits. I'm on a mission to up that number as much as possible. But after I graduated High School I needed to find a means of supporting myself here in Phoenix and lost touch with the coaster world for a while. After planning a trip to SFMM with my girlfriend (this coming July 15-18), I've dove head first back into my obsession and it may be worse than ever. I really enjoy this site and all of the information and entertainment it provides and can't wait to start joining in some of the conversations/debates/games/etc. I enjoy seeing the TR's and seeing how much fun everybody has and hopefully I'll be able to join on a few trips in the future. Thanks for listening to me babble Harper
  15. I disagree to an extent. Maverick being as short as it is you're through the element rather quickly. A B&M dive machine you experience 90 degrees for a much longer time frame. Granted I've yet to experience a dive machine but I'm speaking from the pics and videos i've watched numerous times of Griffon and Sheikra. Personally I think CP has used intamins range of thrills quite well in the past decade and it's time for some fresh experiences. I can't wait to see what the park has in store next.
  16. Hi All, I'm heading out to SFMM for a long weekend in two weeks, July 15-18, planning on getting to the hotel around 3 or 4 pm, 5 miles from the park, on Friday and possibly head to the coast afterwards. My question is, do any of you have suggestions or tips on a) whether or not it's worth it to make an evening trip to the ocean and b) if so where would you go to have a nice meal overlooking the water? I'm assuming that this "Carmageddon" I've been hearing about will be a factor and might make my decision for me, but my girlfriend has never seen the Pacific and I saw it once when I was younger and both of us would like to try and make our way over there. Thanks in advance, Harper
  17. I was thinking about asking the same thing. I noticed last Saturday there was a 15 minute wait through out the day for everything. To me that just doesn't seem like the truth.
  18. I have a good friend who worked TTD for the past couple of years and from what I understand the operator has a button for "Arms Down". Once everybody on the train is cooperating then they start the launch sequence with "Keep your arms down, head back and hold on", TTD doesn't really have a *speech* but it does have the christmas tree. But once you hear/feel the dog click under the train you're free to throw your arms up.
  19. This is a fantastic album!!! Just got my copy on Saturday. My favorite track at the moment is "Internal Cannon"
  20. A weekend trip to SFMM next month and hopefully a trip to either SFDK or Knotts over Labor Day weekend.
  21. Does anybody happen to know if vertical construction has started? I'm very curious about this coaster and cant wait to ride !
  22. Thanks for the info! I was leaning more towards SFDK anyways but was looking for some views on both parks. Medusa does look like something to seal the deal too!!
  23. Personally I haven't really had any issues with OTSRs, granted I'm 6' 2" with a big ol' barrel chest so I fit quite snug in most restraints. My main issue is the park policies on the belts to the restraints, I can click the restraint closed but it's the belt that usually will prevents a ride. Out of all the coaster styles and OTSRs I've experienced Vekoma's Face-Off invertigo style is the only one I can remember some slight headbanging on.
  24. My last coaster was Desert Storm at a small park here in Phoenix. http://rcdb.com/350.htm My last major park ride was a trip back home last Sept and we went to CP where I lapped Magnum a few times before we left.
  25. Hi All, There's a possibility of a trip with the family this coming Labor day to Northern CA and I was curious of both CGA and SFDK. Having never been to either park I'm ok with going to both but was curious on which you'd suggest to visit first as we'll only have time for one of the two parks. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, Harper
