  1. As if one awesome Intamin isn't enough, HP had to have TWO! Soon there will be THREE! Then, there will never be a reason to leave! The tophat delivers some pretty awesome airtime. Is like XLR8R, but better! Ahh Trailblazer. I will get to you later. I took this next picture 15 minutes later. Some daytime shots of the "good" boomerang Vekoma goodness? Yes. My one ride on this thing was at night. With the magic of these things, we might actually have good SLC's! Imagine what these trains could do on Goudrix! (Nah; it would still suck.) Here is that evil little mouse. My right cheekbone got a real sood slam against the side rails on this thing! The theoretical capacity of this design is actually over 1100 per hour! However, stupid jeeps don't know how to make a group of four with two groups of two. Despite being one of the older GCI's Lightning Racer is still smooth as glass! Does this picture look farmilar, Shane? Here it is! The inspiration for Cowabunga Bay! I never rode any of the water rides here, not even Roller Soaker. Seriously, this ride is actually good in the back. This might actually be my favorite B&M zero g roll. They had a slightly better crew working it during the day, but dispatches still hover around 3-4 minutes. This is by far the worst mine train I have ever been on. It has no height, it is not the least bit thrilling, and it is incredibly short. Roadrunner Express at SFMM at night is the ultimate scream machine compared to this! Through the trees! Not through thre trees! Do Intamin rides make you happy? Corkscrew! Airtime! Wildcat was a fun last coaster at HP. It is rough, but it actually had more airtime than I expected. One last ride before driving back to NJ! I had to cut out BGE from the trip to try SFGAdv again, after they closed the park due to low crowds and used rain as their excuse! (Several rides were running just fine, but I still never made it past the gate)
  2. With all these planned projects that never came to be, I am pretty sure all of the neighbors own decibel meters, and check them on a regular basis. They are probably waiting for the day when they will pick up ONE WHOLE DECIBEL from the park, and sue to have the place closed. A typical conversation goes like this: Family member 1: OMG OMG OMG! ONE DECIBEL! Family member 2: YOU'RE RIGHT! Let's sue! Family member 3: Wait! That was just a car outside. Family members 1 and 2: Awww! So, when is CGA going to build Tunnel: The Ride? Lets see how locals complain about that one!
  3. Rather than spend a full day here, the plan was to spend two half-days. I did not arrive for the first night until 5 pm. The place was completely empty, probably due to a short but heavy storm. By the time I arrived, the rain had stopped. This thing had the longest wait of the night. The low capacity caused this ride to have a whopping 10 minute wait. Does this ride really need an introduction? New restraints turn this Boomerang into a decent ride! It still rattles, but there is no headbanging! And it launches at 1,000 MPH! More Intamin goodyness! This one comes in a in a "walk on" form! If you don't appreciate Intamin, then you appreciate nothing in life. Great Bear probably has the slowest dispatches I've seen on an invert. I have even seen Silver Bullet send out trains faster than this. However, this turned out to be credit #100! This coaster is actually pretty good when it is in action, although the finale is by far the weakest of any B&M invert. A helix at the end would be a great addition to this. This thing reminded me of when Revolution was a GOOD ride. Still has only lap bars. The last 15 minutes was pretty much a mini-ERT session on Lightning Racer; I got in three rides in a row without leaving the station! Back to the park in the morning! (I was only in the park for a couple hours the previous day) Before some more coasters, its time for that really bizarre Recees shooting dark ride! Fahrenheit is what happens when Maverick and a Eurofighter have sex! Its a real shame, though, that this child had to get the low capacity gene from the Eurofighter. Riding this first is a good idea, because slow crews can hinder an already low capacity ride. Good thing they had a good crew working it in the morning! (They were stacking all three trains later in the day) This post is not doen yet! This was supposed to be saved as a draft, but it ended up getting posted by accident! More images coming soon!
  4. I305. The perfect ending to my great east coast trip!
  5. Hopefully, (and most likely) there is a new coaster or thrill involved. This place now charges almost the same as Disneyland, and I would currently much rather spend my day there. This seems to be exactly what the park needs, and, while part of me is glad to see this, another side of me says, "well its about time..."
  6. I forgot to mention all of KI's kiddie coasters (30 minute wait for all of them, the longest waits in the park!) Roller Soaker (hate getting wet and low-capacity rides. Can you see why I skipped it?) Comet (Hershey, line was too long) S:EFK, left side. I have riden this thing countless times, both before and after the EFK days. Yet, I STILL don't have my left side credit.
  7. What is interesting is the graphic shows no brakes on the drop. Hopefully, this dream of a brakeless El Loco will come true. It looks like S&S is adressing all of the problems I have heard about these things, and, hopefully, it will have NO BRAKES!
  8. My quetion: when did Raffi leave Knott's? I really do wish Marty the best of luck, but Knott's operations have only gone downhill since the early 2000's. I do wonder if a shift in management would improve anything/ make anything worse. Having a Disney CEO, however may also have a positve influence on this park, of which operations leave a lot to be desired. [i'm also talking to you, Kings Dominion!]
  9. ^Final Destination 3 is real! I knew it!!! I can't wait to ride GCA's new Dive Machine, oh wait, wrong CGA.
  10. When I went during Fright Fest, I found no major rides to be closed either. However, if you only want to ride the coasters, it is best to arrive at the park upon opening. The park will start out empty, but will slowly become more and more crowded as the day goes on. Also, SFDK's Fright Fest is pretty medocire anyway. The zombie aisles become so overcrowded, it is difficult to tell the difference between a "zombie" and someone else brushing your shoulder. This can also suck if you are irritated by loud, high-pitched noises, as the sounds of others screaming is absolutly defening. I was in there fore literally two minutes, and I had a headache the entire next day. I am considering trying out Knott's Haunt this year, but I do have a one roadblock. Have any rides been closed for Haunt this year? My favorites are Xcelerator and Ghostrider, and I would rather not go if both of these are closed. For this event, I might consider purchasing earplugs. Yes, they look dorky, but I couldn't care less as they are worth not having a headache.
  11. ^So, was there still stacking on X2 and Tatsu? When you say, "right as the trains came back", does that still indicate stacking? If, so, that i not too big an improvement for X2. On Tatsu, though, three minutes is a quick dispatch. In all my rides on Tatsu, not counting the ones where there was 1 train running, I have only seen the crew not stack trains once. It was truly an amazing sight. I couldn't believe my eyes. The last time this happened, the dinosaurs went extinct. i can't wait another 75,000,000 years for Tatsu to not stack trains again!
  12. ^SFDK pretty much is "west coast SFA". They are both pretty much in scary parts of town, they both have decent mixes of coasters, and they both had awful operations. I say had because SFDK's operations have improved A LOT in the past few months.Medusa can now run three trains without stacking, and, on most other coasters, the staff are usually done checking restraints before the blocks even clear. I can't quite see CGA becoming another SFDK or SFA, or even an early 2000's SFMM. If you previously visited SFDK and did not enjoy your visit, I recomend giving the park another try. Back in 2008, I thought this place had the worst operations of any park I have ever been to. Operations back then even put places like Knott's and KD to shame. Yeah, they were that bad, and they are that much better now.
  13. images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTiew5uo7cJ2R-4jWZFFkQuxMRrM6nK8tQ4bAza8cAtX_hda3N-nOkGe_74wA Shockwave's colors do not look too bad standing alone, but, when compared to the surrounding park, can look really ugly. Who though painting your signature coaster PINK and YELLOW was good idea!? Did Del Holland want to make his park appear more family-friendly? If so, then repaving areas of the park and actually caring for something other than rides is a much better way to do that!
  14. I don't think people on the East Coast understand the feelings those on the West Coast feel. I hate to steriotype, but that's the way I see it. Remember when Geauga Lake closed? Everyone seemed sad about Teh Big Dipper, but, overall, there was less grief than I would imagine a park that size would have when it closed. That is because most of CF's parks are in the northeast. I have never even been to GL, and I have still ridden its two signature coasters, at other parks (Dominator and X-Flight/Firehawk) However, if CGA closed under CF ownership, the only CF park on the West Coast is Knott's. Knott's might get one or two rides, but most of the rides would be moved to NE parks. To make a long point short: On the East coast, you guys are spoiled by parks. When in Pennsylvania and the states surrounding it, I don't think I was ever more than a 4 hour drive from the next major park on my NE trip. In norcal, you are stuck with SFDK, and CGA. if one is removed, that is, literally, removing half the major parks in the area. That would be like closing Hersheypark and Knoebels. You wouldn't be sad, though, because you still have Dorney and Kennywood, right? Disney, Knott's and SFMM are about a 6 hour drive south. Imagine only having one park less than a 6 hour drive away. How much fun would that be?
  15. Exactly! On my visit to KD, I rode Volcano in the front, back, and middle, and the wait was the same for all three! Not that the actual station is bad, but Twister at Knoebels will always go down in my heart as my least favorite station. Mainly because the exit ramps are smooth steel, and it was raining when I rode the coaster. Since I wasn't watching my step, I slipped on the exit ramp, giving my ass a nasty bruise. Generall, any station of which there is no ride op outside it to hold people is awkward, no matter what the station design is. KI actually does this pretty well (except for Beast), but luxaries like this in places like Hersheypark or Cedar Fair parks are nonexistant. Six Flags parks do have people that do this, but usually their only job is to manage the Flashpass line, and they still allow the stations to become packed.
  16. Fixed. In all honesty folks, some of us love parks for more than just it's coaster count.. a lot of us have tons of memories here, and it's kind of sad to see the majority of people only care about who gets what rides from the park, rather than have concern for the park itself.. Like I said from day 1 of this being announced, i'm looking forward to see what they can do for the park, I have no reason to believe they won't help get it back where it belongs, CGA is truly a great park and I have no shame defending it I agree, as well as many people on here. So many people seem to be actually hoping this place closes, just so their home park can get one more ride. I almost pisses me off. Ugh guys, just because I live near the bay area doesn't mean I don't have feelings. When I visited CGA for the first time, I had been fed up by SFDK's awful operations, and expected something similar. Instead, I got a clean and well-rounded park with reasonable operations and a nice atmosphere. With SFDK, each visit seemed to only get worse. 1 train operations on all coasters was not an unusual sight. At least at CGA, I could have the satisfaction of seeing more than one train running. Since my good visit, this park will have a place in my memory. So, for all you on the east coast that want Flight Deck here is my opinion: I hope that SFGAdv tares down El Toro, and it is moved to SFMM. That way, since I already have SFGAdv's credits, I will never have a reason to go back to New Jersey! If you live there, well, your highway/turnpike system sucks, your people are the worst quality I've ever seen, and I would love to never have a reason to go back. (Everyone already knows about people in NJ, though) MrSum1"Sometimes, it just feels good to get your feelings out."_55
  17. This may not have been the weirdest series of breakdowns, but it may have been the funniest! At SFGAdv, I went to get my last two rides on El Toro with my Platinum FP. When the train reached the final block, I noticed the train in front of us was still in the station. (Quite strange, considering they had a prettty good crew running it that day) A matinence worker told us that there would be a temporary delay, and we would be advancing in a while. After arriving in the station, I remained in my seat to ride a second time. On the second ride, I stopped on the same block brake, and the SAME matinence worker told me there would be another delay. This time, it was because they had a very sick rider in the station, who was unable to leave. Park policy is that the trains can't move until the station is empty of the GP. Two delays, on the same block brake, twice in a row!
  18. Volcano's station. It has the same problem as Iron Wolf, except turned around; the back row line cuts into those going into all the other rows. This makes the wait for the back the same as all other rows. Two other bad stations are Riddler's and Medusa West, mainly because they are very large; you think you are almost to the front, but you could still have a good 30 minutes left. More recently, these parks have gotten better at making sure not too many people overflow in the station. However, in the past, I literally walked right into Medusa's station, but the wait was an hour due to 1 train operations and 6-7 minute dispatches.
  19. I believe all Arrow rides under Cedar Fair ownership have extra seatbelts. However, the reason why ops don't check them themselves is the positioning of them; they instead ask riders to pull on them themselves. Although, I was on Rotting Lumber one day when the train overshot the brakes. However, these kids in the back messed up the order, leaving some people with nowhere to sit. Additionally, the ride ops didn't even notice it had happened. That pretty much sucks.
  20. With what is going on, I have listed (in my opinion) the top six things most likely to happen with the park. Here is my order from best to worst situation: 1. JMA continues to operate and expand the park 2. The park becomes part theme park, part entertainment complex, with resturants and such. This would mean ticket admission and probably removal of rides. If this were to happen, I could see them selling everything in the right side of the park, while keeping most of the rides on the back and left sides of the park. 3. (Not too different from #2, actually) An entire new complex is built, and only Flight Deck remains. Here, guests can purchase tickets to ride Flight Deck, as well as having fun at the rest of the ski resort village-type complex. 4. JMA continues to operate the waterpark, while the rest of the park park becomes a village center. Perhaps the waterpark will even expand itself. I could also see this being merged with #3. 5. Say hello to the new village complex! 6. Great-Parking Lot-America. Hope to make a trip to whatever park gets Flight Deck.
  21. ^Jeff Johnson's last credit maybe?
  22. Racer-Red Wildcat-CP (I have visited the park twice, spending a total of five days there, and have not ridden this a single time!) Rebel Yell-Left (Only the right side was running) Flying Unicorn (Now some Hairy Potter crap)-IOA Primevil Whirl-Left-DAK (1 side operations) Space Mountain-right side-MK S:EFK-Left Side Exterminator-Kennywood Lil Phantom-(Does this allow adults? I don't count coasters that don't.)-Kennywood Comet-Hersheypark And finally... All the credits at BGE. Its kind of a long story, but I was supposed to go there one day, but ended up going to SFGAdv instead.
  23. On Roaring Rapids, SFMM. Boat filled with teens leaves the station, and goes on to the ramp into the water, as all boats do. However, their boat stopped halfway down the ramp. So, the two guys in the back started jerking forward. With each jerk, the boat moved an inch further. Within less than a minute, they managed to jerk the boat all the way down to the water, so the ride could proceed as normal with no help from any addentants! Getting our credit at Woodstock, CP. There were four seats left, and four of us. Two, in the middle of the train, and two in the back. I was one of us sitting in the back. By the end of the ride, there was something in my lap. It was my friend's hat, who was sitting in the middle of the train! i had caught a lose article! Terrible (average) ride op at Knott's. This ride op was assigning seats for Supreme. Right as my friend and I were about to walk through, he shut the gate. I looked. I saw two seats remaining, and we were a party of two! He never bothered to ask us! After he shut the gate, he walked away, only to come back when the cycle was over!
  24. X2 (One week after opening!) -SFMM Green Lantern (1 week after opening!) -SFMM Roadrunner Express-SFMM S:EFK (Opening day!) -SFMM Windseeker-CP Windseeker-KI Green Lantern-SFGAdv Those are my only ones! (Besides the ones at my home park, SFDK) I was actually at Knott's during the opening seasons of both Sidewinder and Pony Express, but I did not ride either until the season after.
