^Yes. Pretty much every CF park either contains an adjacent waterpark, or a slide complex within the park. BB opened in 2004 with a water play structure and two waterslides. In 2005, the park added three new waterslides, plus a lazy river and a wave pool. Not much has happened since, though. I don't see why it hasn't expanded in a while, considereing the low cost of a waterslide and that slides do not make that much noise. Yet, the place has only five slides. Just a couple more would give them a status as a major waterpark, free with admission. I would say it would be cool if SFDK got one, but, then again, the weather is usually crap there.

^Having seven trains means you can keep two in rehab, while running five. Although, the schedule of how many trains are running may vary by day. I spent two days at the park once. The first time, the wait for CS was 20 minutes standby, and no wait for Fastpassor single rider. The next day, the wait was 70 minutes standby, 30 minutes Fastpass. I did not try single rider, but there appeared to be a good deal more of them. The odd thing was, five trains were running the first day, while only three were running the second day. Oh, and the late opening followed by an early closing did not help either. (I have no idea why they closed it early. It was supposed to be closed for WOC, but they did so early enough to stop cycling trains a good 30 min-1 hour before the show even began! Usually, they run the ride until the very last second). [begin_Rant] What was especailly aggrivating was that when trains were still being cycled, Fastpasses were not accepted. My party was not alone on this. There were others standing around in confusion, at the foot of a fully operating ride, yet cast members were denying anyone entrance via valad Fastpasses. On my way out of DCA, just after denial of FP's, I asked a cast member (out of view of the ride, about 45-75 min. away from WOC) why our FP's would not be accepted. He did say he was unsure, but suggested that the ride may have been broken, which was not the case. (Can't blame him, though. He did seem very friendly, and was working in an area out of view of the ride). [End_Rant]I was able to get my CS pass upgraded to a BTMR one, though. That did settle some of my frustration.

Goliath at SFMM is very notorious for grey-outs, not only due to the intensity, but also due to the fact that it is built at a park in the middle of the desert. When it becomes hot, and you become very dehydrated, watch out. It can be fun to play "who can grey-out the most" in the helix. I have heard multiple accounts of grey-outs on GCA's Flight Deck. However, I rode five times in one day, and it did not happen to me once. I guess what I need now is a whole thirty minutes devoted to it.

Fuji Q ride ops really have a ton of talent. Fujiyama and Dodonpa have dispatches that are insanely slow, yet they both have just one lap bar! Even SFMM can dispatch Goliath consistantly without stacking, and the Japanese are known for efficiency. Does Fuji Q seek out the slowest staff they can find? I would most certainly like to see them try to dispatch a flying coaster! It would probably take them 15 minutes to a train, if that. -
^^^^I have been to the park four times, and Hammerhead Shark has only been open for the day once. I will be surprised if it is actually open on Bay Area Weekend. This is simply rediculous and is probably as bad if not worse than a GIB. It even seems to break down just as often, if not, more so. Anyway, my plan of attack will be to enjoy Roar and Pandemonium while I have the time, and get in a quick ride (or two) on V2 when the park opens. At night, I might ride SS once, and mainly focus on Medusa. (Starflyers bore me to death; I guess the view will be better at night.

I wonder if any of those neighbors realize that in not allowing construction of new rides they are digging their own graves? There are probably a vast amount of small business owners within the vicintiy of the park, and the park helps their businesses. If they reject a new ride, their economy will only slowly go downhill. If the park closes, well, the area is in trouble. So, your best friend could be at risk of losing his job in the future, but all you care about is a little noise? You could be at risk of having your own bisiness collapse, but an unnoticable sound is the only thing that matters? On the flip side, why doesn't GCA just add tunnels in parts on the outskirts of the park? However, with those neighbors, the ride would become Tunnel: The Ride.

This attempt at a new forum is not necessarily about bad rides, just about rides that looked great, bit did not ride so great. A few of my examples would be: Silver Bullet (Or pretty much EVERY new B&M) Mean Streak (You probably saw this one coming) Goliath (Well, and Tatan) The Morgan hypers I really hope this hasn't been done before. I did try to search for a similar topic, but could not find one I would consider similar. If this has been done, sorry for wasting your time.

Oops! Skipped over that report. Nice TR, although I was planning on being the first one to do a photo TR of that park! You stole my title! Half-pipes boring? These things scare the living crap out of me! True, the ride is boring after the first drop, but some of the larger ones (60+ft) actually scare me more than any amusment park ride in existance! (even Intamin drop towers, starflyers, etc.) For me, it's funnels that just don't quite do it. All a funnel is is a covered half pipe, minus the insane drop into it. -
^^^Which may explain why SFMM, a year around park, got to keep their Deja Vu. I will say, SFMM's Vu does not have the crazy breakdowns the others had, of which they are at seasonal parks, meaning they have the entire off-season for rapairs. However, being a year-around park means the ride can remain closed for long periods of time. Personally, I have never seen the ride break down, but I have seen it down for the day too many times to count. On park of which I have been a bit skeptical lately is Disneyland (and, well Ca Adventure too). Maybe I am just REALLY unlucky, but all of my more recent visits have been filled with late openings, early closings, and consistant breakdowns throughout the day. Judging from the last two-day trip, SFMM's rides actually seem more realiable than Disney's, but that may have just been a fluke day.

Planned but Cancelled

Grand Sierra Indoor Water Park, Reno NV. I cannot find an animation of it, but it was supposed to be one of the largest indoor parks in the country. Never happened. The area of which it was supposed to is now an ugly asphalt parking lot. The only other water park in town is esentially a couple water slides dotted around tarmac and gravel. You would think a place called "Wild Island" could do a little better. -

Finally! A photo TR of a NorCal water park! I have waited for this for a long time. I have been planning to do many of the water parks in this area, yet I have no waterproof camera that I can keep with me. -
What area really needs a theme park?
MrSum1_55 replied to let1gre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pretty much EVERY STATE between California and Tennessee (excluding parts of Texas) Alright, there are a few exceptions (Lagoon, AA, etc.) but I think you pretty much get the picture. Oh, and anywhere north of California as well. -
^Like how pretty much everyone thinks GL is the "tamer version of X2." If two rides are the same type of coaster, they are thus the same thing to the GP. However, building a hyper might work, because X2 is a pretty difficult ride to top. However, with Goliath, the GP already eat up this thing, despite that it is very easy to top. I can easily see why Giovanola built only two hypers; Goliath and Titan negate their big budgets with bulky trains, dissapointing 1st drops, and little airtime. While the helices never dissapoint, it is still remarkable that Intamin can make a ride 150 feet shorter that packs 10x more of a punch. However, I say the park should go Giga to top Goliath, because height and speed seem to be the only two things that matter, and people will think that if it is shorter than Goliath, Goliath is better. Although, I think any park in America should get a Magelite, to show us what good design really is. These things make the most of their small heights. There is no excuse for a 250 foot drop to be inferior to a 100 foot one.

The original post seemed 100% somthing you would hear from the GP. I hate people that blame the parks just because the lines are long. If it is not due to inefficient lifeguards who fail to notice someone has exited the slide, there is no reason for anyone to complain. Alright, so someone got an injury on a slide and got free tickets. What do YOU want then? do you want a refund plus a million bucks? Do you really think posting this is going to shut down any parks? Just a few points -
Well, for that they would need a B&M or Intamin hyper. However, a B&M hyper would look too much like Goliath, so we can pretty much forget that. Tim said we weren't getting a prefab. Actually, the capactiy of a Megalite is surprisingly low, at 810 riders per hour. An Intaimin hyper might work, but people would still conpare it to Goliath. So, I guess that leaves either a giga or a dive machine, assuming they want to spend that much.
-
I recently came up with a VERY bizarre conclution, but, with the current rumors going on, anything can happen. Remember WCB, when Neal and Tim were both unsure of what a Megalite was when asked if they had built one? Maybe, just maybe, this was no coincidence that two park managers would be unsure of a popular design from Intamin. Could it be that they really are considering a Megalite? I am not sure if that would fit in Deja's former/RRE's proposed position. However, to see one of these seems a good deal more likely than the odds of seeing an Aquatrax. If anything, CA Screamin should have been an Aquatrax, so Disney would have the potential for more theming and focus on forces of the ride as opposed to one loop. SFMM Megalite for 2013?

^While backpack loose article policies may change, I am shocked they have remained the way they are this long. I was shocked when the WDW staff let my leave my backpack on the coaster floor on RnRC, quite rare for a looping coaster. Now I guess those days are over, although it could lead to some GREAT trim-free rides on Screamin! .

The gimmack of the new technology is so someone can't get stuck or roll back. Even so, what's the big deal if someone does? They simply put a trap door on the bottom of the loop on Whitewater's version. Like Gumball said before, it appears to be a larger version of CGA's helix slide. Maybe there is hope that Sacramento can get one too? On somewhat of an irrelated topic, (I cannot think of any other forum to ask this) does anyone know the current status of Roseville's Master Blaster? I drove two hours to go there just to get my first Master Blaster credit, and it was closed . I heard from a staff member that they were missing a part from the manufacterer. I will probably try going out there again soon.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
MrSum1_55 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can see the sarcasm. The only problem is that its not a roller coaster. -
^^My front seat ride was probably as bad, if not worse than Revolution. It was extremely painful, and just horrible. Also, the rattle was consistant throught the entire ride; it is hard to select the worst part, because the entire ride was that bad! ^My front seat ride on Scream was worse than my front-seat ride on Vortex. However, Scream is smooth as glass in the back, and I have only ridden Vortex in the front. I didn't ride again because the ride sucked, and there was one train running.
