^^Really, the drop delivers the same sensation as X2's drop. You do get a bit of airtime at the top, but the real fun comes in the sensation of skydiving down. Also, I should note that the airtime is more prominent in the back than the front. (Or is it the front? The two rows that go higher up the tower give the best airtime). However, the lower two rows are better for visuals. One important thing to note is that the higher rows have significantly longer waits than the lower rows, thanks to the awful station design, featuring 90 degree bent rows. Furthermore, you might not even have the choice between the first and last two rows, since most standby riders are sent to the lower rows, while Flashpass is sent to the last two rows. Now that Deja Vu is gone, Superman probably takes the cake for the worst operations on the mountain (right up there with Tatsu). How have the crews been doing on this ride? I really have yet to see a good crew on this. They did have a decent crew on WCB day, though.

^Another way to appreciate Tatsu's use of the terrain is to ride S:UF at GAdv. This thing was literally jammed between the midway and the parking lot, just because it fit there! While the S:UF clones are not the most thrilling rides around, if they actually expanded out of their square-shaped layouts, they would be great rides! I am just glad SFMM didn't get another Superman clone.

Russia to build Vekoma GIB in Sochi
MrSum1_55 replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maybe Vekoma was able to solve most of the problems with China's GIB? Stunt Fall did turn out to be much better than the US versions, and that opened only a year later. It is possible that China's could be a lot more reliable than the other versions. Although, the resurrection of one of the most problematic designs in history seemed to come out of left field. What's next? A new Flying Dutchman? -

^^Well, I don't believe I have heard "roller coasters go faster in the back!" Probably, it depends on which part of the country you are from. If you are from Northern California, this is probably a common mistake; the newest wood coaster in the area opened in the late 90's. Imagine if JMA added a woodie to CGA. I can't imagine how many people would be confused, never having realized that wood coasters are still being built. ^In a sutuation like that, I believe no one cares loosely translates to OMG! For once in my life I might actually be wrong! I can't be wrong in front of my friends! I am never wrong! Still, my personal favorite was when someone said I was stupid to believe that X2 was a coaster, believing it was a 4D flight simulator! (Even after I actually rode it, he spent a half hour trying to convince me I was never actually moving, just the screen was making me think I was!) To be fair, I do believe X2 actually was a supersonic airplane, and he got far enough to hear it was a 4D ride. So, esentially, that giant red and black thing in the parking lot is just an illusion, and that extremely realistic simulator always seems to adapt to the weather outside. When it was raining at WCB 2011 ERT, the ride actually was spraying water in your face! Weird, huh? The X2 simulator really is the greatest technological achievement of all time! -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
MrSum1_55 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^By far, THE most common jeep mistake is deeming all wood coasters as 'old'. I have seen people, young and old, thing all wood coasters are old. I doubt there is ONE person on these forums who cannot say they've heard someone make this mistake. Unless you happen to be at Kennywood or some old boardwalk park, the wood coaster they are talking about is probably newer than they think. Also, another not-too-absent minded but very funny mistake is when I tell someone I am making a trip to Six Flags Magic Mountain. They ask, "is Colossus still the top dog?" So, when I arrive at the park, I send them a picture of Goliath and Superman towering over Colossus, and I might throw in a pic of Tatsu over Revolution. I believe that effectively answeres the question. MrSum1"Yes, El Toro really did open in 2006"_55. -

You can can tell the wait for a ride simply by how long the line is, and not even looking at any signs. If you don't know, you have already figured out within 5 minutes of waiting. OR: You drove through some awesome place, and never visited because there was a park nearby. For example, I have been to Washington DC once, and that was when I drove through it to get from SFGAdv to KD! -

^Not being able to post on TPR for life! What's worse than having to ride Phoenix with seatbelts? -
^Really? The only water ride that gets long lines is Roaring Rapids, but even this can have short waits if you ride it early. I have never seen Jet Stream have more than a 15 minute wait, even on extremely crowded days. I never rode Log Jammer, (and I guess I never will), but I can imagine waits were as short as Jet Stream. Besides, if you want to go on some water rides, there is this place called 'Hurricane Harbor'. It's about 250 miles away, but the extra drive is worth it if you're in to water parks. So, as much as many people would like it SFMM is not going to get another water ride; the Aquatrax they are building will have a small river section prior to launch, but no splash. Oh, and if you are one of those people complaining about Log Jammer's removal, see the last sentance of the first paragraph.

^I believe SFDK's problem is its lack of orginization. At GAdv, if enough people came to fill the whole train, the whole train was filled. At SFDK, when enough people came to fill the whole train, they were let in 4-8 at a time. This system sounds better on paper, but it actually is the worse system imaginable, considering they almost always go to the front. On Medusa, the wait for the front row was 45 minutes, and I even had a gold Flashpass. The actual wait was 2:15, so, if you wanted to ride Medusa in the front, you would have to devote 3 hours to one ride. Generally, the worst parks in terms of operations are the hit-or-miss ones. SFDK is always either empty to fairly crowded, usually with no in between. As a result, their systems that do work with few people do not work with more people. Also, from what I have observed, it is actually better to go during the summer months than any other time, since I have noticed the summer crews are significantly better than the off-season crews. On the TPR day, the crews on Roar and Kong were doing awesome, always finishing checking the restraints before the blocks cleared. During the other times I have gone, the ride ops would wait for the trains to stack before even starting to check restraints! I hear a lot of people complain about SFMM's operations. However, their operations are a bowl of cherries compared to SFDK.

^^Wow! I never really thought it was that good! I honestly thought your theming immersion was far superior to mine! (Especially the western side) Also, I am really glad someone liked Ninja! I really don't know how to describe that thing. It's like an outdoor Space Mountain meets a jet coaster. Originally, a Schwarzkopf wildcat was supposed to be installed in the western area, but this turned out to be too rough for guests' taste, and was replaced with a powered mine train. Meanwhile, to satisfy the need for a wild-mouse style ride, Ninja was built. Oh, and I wouldn't feel too bad for not having a mine train. Bergsprung is better than 99.9% of the mine trains out there! -

SCR1.BMP Think you can't build rides with very high excitements with only medium intensity? Think again! Both the Fire and Ice coasters have excitements in the low 8's, but intensities in the high 4's! SCR3.BMPRunaway Mine Train is not the most heavily themed of mine trains, but it runs through the thick woods, and has several tunnels. It even has two duels as a result of block timing! The "I just did this in a Theme Park" Thread
MrSum1_55 replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At SFDK, Fright Fest 2010 was so cold and rainy, I was wearing three shirts and a jacket, and I had to purchase a forth just to keep warm! That same, day, I decided to take a ride on Kong at night. Well, there was one train running, which led to an hour wait. To add to that, I rode in the back. So, to recap, I waited an hour to ride in the backseat of an SLC when it was probably around 40 degrees. I thought I would be beaten senseless, but I actually enjoyed the ride! It may have been due to the fact that my ears were so numb I couldn't feel anything. However, the main reason is probably that it is hard not to enjoy a ride after you have waited in the slowest moving line in the world. Now, I can barely stand riding it in the front on a normal day! Also, for Fright Fest 2011, I almost waited in Medusa's 2 1/2 hour line (line was all the way back to Sky Screamer's entrance). But, I decided to buy a Flashpass instead. -
^^/^ I really do wish more people were like the people on these forums. I totally understand how some people really do need access. If you don't like lines, either purchase a Flashpass, arrive early to get in all the credits, or do not arrive. Disney's lax policies are probably due to the fact that people who visit Disney are generally the trustworthy group. However, at SFDK, it does seem like they need to tighten their policies. Also, at other Six Flags parks, I have noticed that when a deluge of priority boarding guests walk up through the exit, they will assign them to the rows with the shortest waits, rather than having them pick the row. Usually, they will go for the front. I think I saw more priority boarders during that one visit than in all my previous ones to both SFMM and visit SFGAdv. Why is it that SF's two largest parks can handle boarding of this type just fine, but SFDK can't?
-
^Yeah, I was in the same situation. I had a gold FP, and waited 45 minutes for the front. Meanwhile, the actual line went all they way back to Sky Screamer's entrance, past the entrance of Kong and the hammer-bell game. I really wish they had a system like SFGAdv; there, when you use fastpass/priority boarding on RMT, they assign you to the row with the shortest wait. Also, even with people who were using priority boarding, I saw FAR less people using it than SFDK. I could be wrong, but I believe New Jersey has one of the highest rates of disabled people in the US. When people abuse the system, it not only serves as a middle finger to normal people, but also people who actually are disabled. For example, as a young kid, I broke my leg in a skiing accident. Two months later, to celebrate the removal of my cast, my parents took me to Disneyland. However, since my leg muscles had sat dormat for eight weeks, I still had a horrible limp, and could barely walk short distances, let alone around the happiest place on earth. So, I spent most of the day in a wheelchair. Having complete special access really was an awesome experience, and I lost count of how many times I rode Matterhorn that day. Knoebels takes a lot of crap for not being disabled friendly (exit-ramp wise). However, most of their normal queues are wheelchair accessable. Since I have actually been in this situation before (although quite a long time ago), I do see both sides of the debate. I do know one person who was able to get her kid oup the access ramp at Disneyland because he had ADHD! However, they did have to show papers confirming this was true. I wonder what SFDK's policy is. Can you just walk up and say "I stubbed my toe walking out of my car?" Overall, I believe people are just looking for more reasons to jump the line. On the one day, I have never, I repeat NEVER seen more line jumping on any ride, ever. Some got caught, some didn't. The saddest thing about this whole visit was how operations seemed to go downhill a bit from August. On the TPR day, I was shocked how much better operations were than their usual standard. I hoped they would stay this way, but they are now back to their usual (low) standards. So, I will probably go back to ranting on this park after all! (Come on. It is required that a person MUST rant on their home park at least a little) MrSum1"SFDK would really be a nice park if it weren't for their awful operations"_55

I was in the park yesterday, and I could see scare actors just just scaring in scare zones, but all over the park! I actually liked this, knowing that no matter where you are, you are not safe from being scared. The scare actors were good, but that was really the only good thing I could say about the night! The Medusa crew was just terrible! It should not take three ride ops 3-4 minutes to dispatch a train (sometimes taking up to 5 minutes). To make matters worse, the staff member running the priority boarding line was letting in people at too often a rate; literally half the trains in the front row line were sent out with only priority boarders. I should also mention that the air gates would remain open for literally 5 seconds. If there were empty seats on the train, you were unable to make it to them in time. The operator said that this was "your fault for not arranging this ahead of time". However, even if two priority boarders were sent through, and a party of two was behind another party, there was no time to make it to the front beofre she shut the gates, and refused to open them for being "too slow". In reality, it is rarely slow guests that effect dispatch times, but slow ride ops, and boy were they slow! They are literally spending 10-15 seconds on each seat! Not even the Tatsu crew moves that slow! I should also mention one more thing: getting a priority boarding pass at a SF park is about as hard as logging into a Facebook account. Here are a few things I saw: -One guy walked up the special access steps carrying a set of crutches. He was not using them or anything. He had no hint of a limp, and could walk up stairs just fine. Yet, he and his ten friends got to cut the line! -Another girl came up the ramp with crutches that she was using. When boarding, after being allowed to cut, she left the crutches of the opposite side of the station, while walking to her seat on the other side. She had not one hint of a limp, did not favor one leg over another, just treated it like a walk in the park! I'm no medical expert, but I do strongly believe something might be up in both of these situations. I totally understand requiring a disabled person to use special access, but what about people who may be in healthy condition who just want to bypass the line? It is just shameful. I saw many other people in completely healthy looking condition able to bypass the line, for some reason. I even had a Flashpass, and I was pissed off enough. Imagine what people who waited 2.5 hours thought! (That was really how long the wait was, line was all the way back to Sky Screamer's entrance) Next time, I will walk up to a customer service counter, say I have ADD, and see if I am given an access pass.
