  1. Another vote here for the Giant Dipper. Granted I haven't been on much, but nothing has come close to that, especially in the back seat.
  2. What about the psychedelic caveman train ride? I wouldn't really call it bad themeing though.. just weird-what-the-hell-were-they-smoking themeing.
  3. Maybe some will argue with me on this one. At the Luxor in Las Vegas they have a motion simulator ride (the name escapes me). It starts out pretty cool.. you hear about some scientific team was drilling deep into the earth and discovered a pyramid. You ride an elevator on the way down and something goes wrong (as it always does on these kinds of rides). You're rescued and have to ride some weird egyptian hovercraft thing to the surface.. that's when the ride portion starts. It's actually very highly themed.. almost on par with some Disney ride. I say it's the worst themed ride in my mind simply because the theme doesn't work.. at all. It looks cool at first but as you go farther into the ride it starts to look cheap.. like they ran out of money halfway through. To make it even worse, the "actors" they use are never very good. I went on this ride when it first opened and I loved it.. the last time I went on a couple years ago I really had a hard time believing everything. They used to have a three part ride. The first part was the motion simulator, the second was a 3D talk show of some sort, and the third was an IMAX movie. All together it actually had an decent storyline.. but Luxor cut the other two and just left the motion simulator, so it feels terribly incomplete. It just goes to show that you can spend millions of dollars on themeing and it can still suck. Just to show you how much they still care about the ride.. you can ride two other motion simulators in the same building. Stuff like "Dracula's Castle" or "Escape from Dino Island." You know.. the cheap motion simulators they have at fairs and mini-golf courses that look like they were done 15 years ago. It's sad really. sorry this was so longwinded
  4. Maybe I just need to ride it again. I was in the back seat my first and only ride and I kept getting slammed into the lap bar every time we went down a drop. If they took out the seat divider as well it would be a lot more comfortable. I'm all for woodies being a little rough, but not at the expense of enjoying the ride.
  5. Damn, that makes me feel homesick. April can't come soon enough! I never noticed how many trees Disneyland has
  6. At least queue music wouldn't be as bad as onboard music.. that would be pure hell.. can you even imagine?
  7. That would be mine.. with Kingda Ka coming in a close second.
  8. The Giant Dipper in Santa Cruz. I lost count long ago but I'm sure it's approaching 100. Last spring they had unlimited ride wristbands for $15, and the park was empty. I probably rode the Dipper for an hour straight.. and I was the only one on the train. Next to that would be Batman - Knight Flight at SFNE. We had the qbot gold which meant we never waited longer than 5 minutes to ride. I think I went on it something like 15 times in a row. I almost felt bad about walking past all those people who had been waiting an hour.. almost.
  9. When I got on Demon at PGA last year. I had been on the Giant Dipper at the boardwalk more times than I could count, but never really considered myself an enthusiast until I went on a coaster with inversions. What's strange is that I went from being so deathly afraid of roller coasters to not being able to get enough
  10. I've been going there all my life and I never realized how small the castle is. I knew it was small compared to WDW.. but you can hardly see it in those pictures!
  11. Plattsburgh, NY. A little tiny town that's about as far as you can get from NYC and still be in the state. I suppose Great Escape is my home park :? La Ronde in Montreal is closer, but it's such a hassle to get to. When I used to live in Santa Cruz my home park was the Boardwalk. I was so close I could see the Giant Dipper from my balcony.
  12. Is this an expansion to nolimits? ..or a standalone program? It's a prettty neat idea.
  13. MAME on Xbox? How on earth do you that? I love playing MAME on my computer but I would well prefer playing them on a TV. Do tell!
  14. Disneyland in April. This will be my frist trip back since moving to the east coast a year ago from CA. It'll also be the first time I'll be able to stay on the resort instead of just driving from home. I may also fit a trip to PGA in there somewhere and I plan hit up the Santa Cruz Boardwalk at some point in that trip. Other than that, nothing concrete. I want to buy a Six Flags season pass and hit up every park near me as many times as I can (Great Escape, La Ronde, Darien Lake, SFNE, and SFGADV)
  15. Not really a coaster.. but when I was 8 I was stuck on the Haunted Mansion. They stop it every once in a while to let handicapped people get on and we happened to be going down the hill backwards. We were stuck there for a good 10 minutes or so.
  16. Batman - The Dark Knight at SFNE. 15 times in one day thanks to qbot! http://www.rcdb.com/ig1549.htm?picture=26
  17. That's great! I'll be out there in April and it looks like Space Mountain is all I'll be missing out on.
  18. Mine would have to be a three-way tie: 1) Hurricane @ SCBB http://www.rcdb.com/ig205.htm?picture=4 - Way too slow for those curves, feels like you're going to fall out. 2) Cyclone @ SFNE http://www.rcdb.com/ig180.htm?picture=6 - Just painful.. extremely painful. 3) Canyon Blaster @ Great Escape http://www.rcdb.com/ig2214.htm?picture=20 - The most boring excuse for a roller coaster I've ever seen. In response to what someone else said about the Giant Dipper.. I completely agree.. it is the smoothest woodie in CA. I was fortunate enough to live a block away for a year, I used to go on it almost every morning when I went out for coffee!
