  1. Coastermaniac asked that since he lives in Cleveland, is it worth the trip to Kennywood? Pal, no matter where you are coming from, Kennywood is always worth the trip ( even if you must pay some toll fare to drive on the parkway that connects Cleveland to Pittsburg, the trip will always be worth it. ). I was there during Memorial weekend on a Saturday, and it was CROWD-ED!!! It was so crowded that actually ran two trains on The Phantom's Revenge, plus it was the first time (on the many trips I have made to Kennywood) that I saw them run the Skyride. So, after I left the park, I decided to take a ride on it. The Skyride took me over the parking lot, over the hill, and into the top most parking lot (AKA - Level 3). But because the Skyride is old and due to park policy, they can only run one side at a time (In Other Words - If you parked your vehicle in Level 3, you can ride the Skyride down to the park during the afternoon, and ride it up to your parking lot during evening). Since I was parked on Level 2 and a shuttle bus was nowhere to be found, I had to walk all the way down to Level two, and all the way to my vehicle. So here is a little warning I must give to all you riders and amusement park flyers: unless the park is CROWD-ED and you aren't parked in Level 3, don't ride the Skyway lest you want to walk a lot on the return trip. "Hey, if you ride me, I won't make you walk on the return trip."
  2. "OH MY GOD! That was horrible with the flooding that hit this park!" Yes, it was, and I was at that park last month and wasn't thinking whether or not another flood was gonna hit (and if another did, it probably won't happen until many, many years from now). And to see the aftermath of the flood was heart-breaking ( especially seeing what happened to poor ole Smokey - that looks like it'll never run again). I tried to visit the website to see what rides will be running; alas, they won't be having a list out until Wednesday. I'm hoping that the flood didn't damage a few of my favorite rides to the point that they won't be running again. "It may look like I'm smiling, but there are tears on my pillow."
  3. The only thing that comes to mind has to be Six Flags America as they have been removing rides, but not replacing them. Take the removal of the Octopus, for example. They did put The Cyclone in its place, but now the old area that use to be The Cyclone has been converted to a rock climb challenge. I'm sure the park could use it, but I feel it is in the wrong place (it's a small attraction inside a large area and I hope they fix it soon - all that queing area isn't being used). But I am optimistic that this park will learn from its mistakes and start to put some more decent attractions, and even improve some of their existing ones. "Are you done yet? You not coming to bed is a stupid move you're making!"
  4. TO THE LATE SKULL MOUNTAIN We are gather here today on this special occasion to say good-bye to the dearly departed. The ride was dear and departed, thus that is why we call it the dearly depart. In other words, the lousy ride is gone! As you can see, the demolition of this ride came as a complete surprise to this ride. I bet you were never gonna get demolish, didja you lousy ride? I told ya what was gonna happen if you keep downtiming the way you was doing. However, this ride faced the ultimate test, as each and every ride must face the ultimate test: whether or not this ride could survive. That's the ultimate test for your . We know that some rides have face the ulitmate test and survived, but this ride wasn't worthy as toast, so it got toasted (or something like that, it makes sense somehow). Now that this ride is being demolished, let's hope that its replacement can be worthy of high standards and top thrills (If and only if Six Flags America can find it first, then put it in with this coaster). Can I get an "Amen" with that? "Amem, now please come to bed."
  5. Okay, as for me about this new attraction, I have a few things to day. First, I love the new name. STINGER - that has a threating ringtone to it. Second, I have no problems with the color scheme; all the other inveritos that I've ridden had the same color scheme and it's nice to see something different. Third, I hate to change the subject, but I just remembered this from my last trip to Dorney Park. I saw that the flat ride called "The Monster" was gone (just had a few small pieces lying around). So I'm asking around if anyone knows why and whether or not this ride will be back, up, and running. "I rather have you back into my arms . . .wait! I don't have any arms. You know what I mean!"
  6. harper83087 asked this question: Sadly, I'm not the right person to ask that question to, but I thought if this new coaster/attraction is coming to Six Flags America I thought it was going to take the area that Two Face used to be in. Oh Boy, let the speculations commence. "I've got one thing to commence: some downtime with me and your head."
  7. Oh, just look on the bright side: if Iron Wolf does come to Six Flags America and it is rebuilt and it does run, then we can all say that Six Flags America finally has a new ride, although a hand-me-down, but a new ride nevertheless; and a used ride is much better than no ride at all. This year, Six Flags America took a dormant body slide, made some improvements, and brought it back to be better than ever (That's what I hope; I didn't get up there to ride it and if I did, I couldn't ride any body slides due to the recent surgery I had done on my back). Maybe Six Flags can do the same with some much needed flats. For example, the Tango ride up in Six Flags Great Adventure. The last three times I've been there I have never seen this ride being running. Why not give this ride to Six Flags America so we can put this in the area near Roar? That was my wishful thinking. And since Skull Mountion is going, why not put a log flume in its place and give it a pirate themeing? That was my wishful thinking again. Six Flags America, if you want me to return, then give me a reason or two why I should, then I shall. Maybe this will be it! "I'm being used again and again and I like it. That was my wishful thinking."
  8. It's been nearly a week since I have been to Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom (so sorry for the delay, but I've just got back from my vacation), and I have a few things to write about. I went to Wildwater Kingdom first wearing my water clothes (T-shirt, bathing shorts, and aqua shoes) and it was a good thing I did because within an hour the lines were beginning to fill up. I didn't ride any body slides and their was one type of raft slide ride I couldn't ride due to my weight, but I did go down the Patriot Plunge, the Riptide Rapids, and both of their lazy river ( but get you super wet) rides. Because I had a T-shirt on (I had on my 'Coaster Hero' T-shirt) and aqua shoes counts as shoes, I didn't need to do any wardrobe changes as I sorjourned from Wildwater Kingdom to Dorney Park. I rode nearly everything I care to ride. At Planet Snoopy, I rode Flying Ace Balloon Race and was saying "Take that, Clementon Park!" You see, Clementon Park had that exact same ride, but the ride attendant there wouldn't let me get on (To this day I still don't know the reason because she couldn't speak English well. It doesn't matter since I won't be returning to that park again ). I was surprised that I was able to ride Sally's Swingset, but I knew that I could ride Linus Launcher and Snoopy's Rocket Ride (My only gripe is that wish the Rocket Ride was much longer and had more turns - this one just took you around in a circle). Overall, I had a good time. "Well, overall, I didn't have a good time because you weren't there with me. Then, when you came back all tired and worned out, that's when I had the time of my life."
  9. I have some unfinished business at Knoebels with two of their attractions : Black diamond Mine and Flying Turns. These two were still being built and tested when I was up there last Tuesday. Last year, I fulfilled a dream and scratched off two roller coasters off my "MUST RIDE OR DIE!" list: Deja Vu and X[squared] when I went to California and visited Magic Mountain. As of today, my bucket list is very small; I visited nearly every park and rode every type of ride, but I'm sure there will be some new coaster or some new type of flat ride that will get me excited and make me exclaim: "I GOTTA RIDE THAT!" "My bucket list has only one thing: that I will get used a lot"
  10. Wow, I nearly forgotten about this post concerning dark rides (I guess it happens when you submit to thousands of posts, you tend to forget some posts or another). While we have been listing our favorite dark rides, how about I throw in another related topic: Can you list a park that doesn't have a dark ride, but could benefit with one? My answer would be Clementon Park in Berlin, New Jersey (if you asked me, that park could benefit by adding a dark ride - heck - it could benefit by adding more rides - period!). Or how about this one: the most lamest dark ride you've ever ridden? I could name one: Castle Nightmare at Jolly Rogers Park on 30th street in Ocean City, Maryland (For the record, they have two parks: 30th Street and On the Pier). This ride could use a few more exhibits, and few more noises, and have a few holes patched up so it'll look and act like a decent dark ride and not some old junky trailer-base ride. Recently, I visited Knoebels and rode their Haunted House - twice. That is how to do a dark ride. "I have a dark ride too: it's called 'going to bed'!"
  11. Allow me to submitted an old saying: "Third time is the charm!" I do hope that this park can reopen and be better than ever, . . . "I've have said the same thing about the park formally known as Six Flags New Orleans, Kentucky Kingdom, and Knoebel's Flying Turns (oops, I mean Lying Turds), hoping and praying they would reopen, they still haven't. Maybe in time, but WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR NEARLY FOREVER!!! Still, it's me being hopeless optimistic. "Hey, need something will never close? Try me!!!"
  12. Okay, I have two accidents from two different parks, but they were off from the same type of coaster. 200? - Six Flags New England - Superman Ride of Steel - A handicaped man that rode in the front was thrown from the ride during the ride's final bunny hops. He had a huge belly which prevented the restraints to fully lock him into his seat. It caused the train to add tighter seatbelts and restraints, thus only skinny-winks could ride it. This year - Darien Lake - Ride of Steel - A Iraqi vet was thrown from the ride due to his amputee leg and half-a-hip that made the tighter lap restraints useless in keeping him in his seat. So far, no tragedy like that has happened to the only Ride of Steel coaster remaining, and that's located in Six Flags America. Perhaps those coasters should do away with the tighter lap restraints and use the over-the-shoulder harnesses that coasters such as The Kingsta Ka and the Intimidator uses. "I'll tell you: if a certain someone doesn't get off this computer right now and join me in bed, then that person will suffer an accident - and it won't be pretty!!!"
  13. Here's a quote from letsriderides: As for my answer, it'll go like this: "As long as our national government doesn't pass any laws prohibiting the excess riding of any roller coaster, then you cannot call it a problemPERIOD! Besides, riding roller coasters can be healthy for you - it helps pump the blood faster, it helps clean out your lungs when screaming down the first hill, and when the ride is over and you are heading down the station, you are laughing because you feel good to still be alive. So let's keep riding rides like there's no tomorrow. "Hey, don't forget that sleep is also important, and snuggling up to your favorite pillow can also do wonders."
  14. From the GrayZone - Oh yeah, I had that same memory flash that also included THE LOST WORLD. As for that spinning flat ride in Candy Apple Grove, there were two of them: the Apple Turnover and an Octopus ride that was called The Mad Apple. Anybody got any more nostagic things from KINGS DOMINION they would love to share on this post? "I've got one - the times when I was used plenty of times before this website came along and I ended up spending my time on the bed lonely. But I'm still smiling!"
  15. There was a wild rumor at my home park of KINGS DOMINION many years ago about putting a coaster in that unused area that sat behind the ANACONDA and the good ole REBEL YELL. The area I'm talking about was were the wild African animals were roaming around. And for years, it sat dormant. Then a rumor started spreading about putting a coaster back there that would be unlike anything the world has ever seen. In fact, the rumor even suggested that it would be a pair of dueling steel coasters that would intertwine with each other. I think I also remember the coaster might have the name Ravens in it. Oh, I didn't tell you the year when this rumor surfaced - 1996!!! So we had to wait until 2010 before they finally put a coaster back there: THE INTIMIDATOR 305!!! "I've got one: I'm lonely in my bed all the time because a certain someone is busy posting threads. If that person will come to bed, then I'll cancel that rumor.
  16. Hey Ya, it's me again. I revisited the park on 7-9-11 so I could get more usage out of my Cedar Fair Platinum Pass!!! Okay, and to see Snoopy's Starlight Experience again (so sue me, I just love the lights, especially wearing the special glasses so each light looks like stars). Anyway, it was something the KDCOASTERFAN wrote: The reason I'm bring this up was the fact that I was inside WATER WORKS on my way to BIG WAVE BAY and I was thinking about all the extra land that lies around that area. If I'm not mistaken ( but I am usually am, so sue me), it's been a while since Cedar Fair put any new water slides inside WATER WORKS, plus I noticed that they took a water slide out (it's the two enclosed pipes that twist around each other and no I'm not sad they took it out - don't sue me for that!). Do you think that the next big attraction for 2012 could be a brand new water slide attraction for WATER WORKS??? Well, it's just a thought to ponder. "Are you done? Good, now get back to bed!
  17. At my home park of KINGS DOMINION and the thirty-plus seasons I've been visiting the park, I had my share of shocking ride removals. The first was the GALAXIE coaster. So what if it was just your standand family steel coaste with a Zyklon / Galaxi track layout - this was one of my favorite coasters inside the park. 1984 would be the last season I would ride it. Then there was the renovation of The Lost World into THE VOLCANO in which 1994 would be my final time I take a journey through the Haunted River, a train tour through Smurf Mountain, and my final spin on the Time Shaft. And finally comes the shocking removal of THE HYPERSONIC XLC that only lasted just a few years. Now it sits in the boneyard up in the sky. "Cheer up; they will never remove me from your bedside!"
  18. Hey Ya!!! I've just visited Kings Dominion last Friday ( that is on 6-24-11 if you want to get technical about it), and I enjoyed my day. The day was sunny and warm with a few drops that few in the evening time, and the park wasn't crowded. I rode almost everything in the park and some rides I did it twice in a row ( I rode Avalanche three times in a row because the station was nearly empty). The INTIMIDATOR 305 and REBEL YELL only ran one train and it was all they needed! And I stayed up late to watch Snoopy's Starlight Spetacular wearing my special glasses. It was a great day. As for speculations on the next attraction for the next season, I don't think it'll be a Windseeker; we already have a ride like that called "Flying Ace" and I cannot see the point of adding another similar attraction inside the park. But I do see two areas that they could add a ride to. Planet Snoopy has space ( if they can clear out that old area that was once Blue's Clues house) to add another ride or two. And how about that blue building that stands between Conga and Kidzville that's vacant? I'm sure they can add something that the whole family will love. I think the answer will be : WAIT AND SEE. "No, my answer is come and sleep."
  19. Why Do Rollercoasters Run Faster On A Hot Day? I always thought rollercoasters run faster at night ( at least that's what my riding friend always say to me whenever we ride a rollercoaster at night. ), so I think it has to do with the track temperatures and the way that heat causes things to expand and cold causes thing to retrack. I don't have an answer, but we riders always love it when a coaster goes super fast. Maybe someone could do a study on this; I think it's worth an experiment or two. "I would like to do an experiment: just lie your head upon me and fall asleep.
  20. Well, I plan to go to Dorney Park in early August as part of my coaster tour vacation trip, and I must admit the last few times I've been at the park I would have done everything (plus more) within a few hours. I don't think I ever been to the park in which I thought it was crowded and all the rides you walk up and ride with little or no wait time(except if I'm ridding the Wild Mouse, doggone if that ride always have a long line). Now that I heard about all the coasters, now how about some reviews concerning the rest of the park ( for example, the Whip: is it still whipping? And how is Planet Snoopy?). This rider and amusement park flyer wants to know! "Just I would like to know when are you coming back to bed. I miss you badly."
  21. Okay, these were the worst lines I've ever been in ( and might you that I have mastered the Zen of waiting, but even these could cause the Zen master to go bezerk): 1) At Kings Island, I waited two hours to go on Son of Beast when it first opened up in 2000 ( they were only running just one train ). The following year, I will ride Son of Beast three times in a row within fifteen minutes! 2) Still at Kings Island, I once waiting an hour to ride this cool-looking coaster called "Scooby Doo's Roller Ghoster". I finally got on and it was the most lamest coaster I've ever ridden ( I shedded no tears when they finally took that coaster out ). 3) At Hersheypark, I waited 45 minutes to ride Wildcat. Now 45 minutes isn't that long of a time and the park was running two trains, but I had to behind a bunch of college-age kids that were rowdy and bug me to death ( especially that one kid who kept blowing that noisy noise-maker that I would have love to shove up his !!! ). 4) At Six Flags Magic Mountain, I waited 90 minutes to ride the Log Jammer ( at least no rowdy kids to be behind of ). 5) And at my home park of Kings Dominion, I waited 60 minutes to ride the log flume and I had to be near a couple of crying, whining, snotty-nose kids who don't know how to SHUT UP AND STAND IN LINE QUIETLY!!!( if you think they were bad, their mothers were even worse, like they were married to ). Now the longest line I ever waited in was for Six Flags Great Adventure Kingsta Ka in which I waited in line for ( wait for it ) two hours and twenty minutes! That was the longest, but it wasn't the worst; I had my friends with me as we played a few games to pass the time, plus there was a DJ that was hammering out the hits ( She played songs such as Beat It!, "Spice up your Life", and "Hey Ya!" ). This was me as I boarded the train to Kingsta Ka - This was me after I rode Kingsta Ka - "And this is me whenever a certain somebody gets off this computer and lays his head upon mine."
  22. "Holy Roller, Batman, that is one insane-looking ride!" Seeing those two flat rides - The TAUMLER and the TRANSFORMER - in action, I think I nearly wet my pants just by looking at the video. Well, the Taumler would seem to be a tamer ride than the Transformer, but on the Taumler I didn't see any restraints on the ride, just a bunch of riders sitting in their seats and freely moving around. But seeing the Transformer going up and over and upside down . . . I've don't think I ever saw that before, not even in my wildest dreams. Perhaps those two rides should be the latest ride craze to hit the amusement parks since log flumes and ferris wheels. "Perhaps I should be the latest craze: I'll call it "Hit the Sack".
  23. PhantomNick wrote: I hear you. Besides, Dorney Park isn't the only park getting hand-me-downs. Take a look at Carowinds and the hand-me-downs they received in the past - Nightwing (formerly Stealth from CA), Scream Weaver (formerly Apple Turnover from KD), Woodstock Flight (formerly Eagle Flight from KI), and Carolina Cobra (former Head Spin from GL). Even my home park of Kings Dominion got three hand-me-down rides from the defunct GL: Dominator, Americana, and El Dorado. Besides, hand-me-down or not, the park is getting another ride and that is still better than getting no ride at all. "Done yet? Good! Come to me!"
  24. I'll tell you all this: If Knoebles can get this coaster up and running, then I won't call this coaster "The Lying Turds" anymore"! There, that should motivate them. "Yeah, and donkeys will fly out my !!!" "Well, you can always count on me to work 24/7, even though you only use me for, like 8/5?"
  25. xVicesAndVirtues wrote: Here's my reason why the VOLCANO coaster had a longer wait time than INTIMIDATOR 305: the VOLCANO usually runs two trains, each train can hold up to 16 riders. INTIMIDATOR 305, on the other hand, runs two trains, but each train can hold up to 32 riders! The DOMINATOR trains can also hold up to 32 riders as well, so you can do the math and see why the lines for those two coasters go more swiftly than the line for the VOLCANO. As for the ending of the VOLCANO, I just wish that the riders, when entering the final brake run, were treated to a cool scene (like flowing lava underneath us) instead of some dull, dark area that looks like its still being constructed. I'm glad you liked the park and how less crowded it was on the day you visited. Last time I visited KINGS DOMINION the park was CROWD-DED!!! "Then why not ride me? I don't have a wait time."
