  1. Okay, this isn't a funny ride experience, but just a observation: I have noticed that many riders that ride these intense rides have often found religion. You don't believe me? How often do you have certain riders often screaming out "OH MY GOD!!!" while going down that first drop? - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - "Hey, I find that offensive!" "And why do you say that? "Because when riders are going that that first hill, I never hear them say 'Oh my devil'! Why is that?" "Because in case the riders do die, then they would go straight to Heaven because they found religion and were praying at that time. "Aw, kiss my !!!"
  2. Ah, seeing pictures of Kings Dominion back in its early days always bring back such good memories ( not to mention a tear or two ). Back in 1990, I remember walking down to the Wave Swinger when I glanced over to Lake Charles and saw this massive, green-colored looping coaster that was being built over the lake; and I was so excited that I wanted to get on it and ride, even though it wasn't finished yet. I saw those first two loops, with the second loop being a sidewinding loop, and I thought to myself Is a loop like that legal? As I got in a closer look, I notice the first drop took you into an underwater tunnel and I thought to myself Now that's gonna be wicked regardless if its legal or not! I knew that I couldn't wait until 1991 for the opening of that new coaster. Opening day for Kings Dominion's 1991 season had terrible weather: it was foggy, cloudy, and cold that day, plus it rained for a bit in the afternoon. Still, that didn't stop me nor a million other riders from taking their first ride on Anaconda. How many other coasters out there have you riding above a lake? Between that first ride in 1991 to today, I must have ridden that ride over fifty times, despite how rough it is. In closing, I don't know how many more seasons the Anaconda has left, but it will continue to excite its riders until then. 35 YEARS OF GOING TO KINGS DOMINION - AND COUNTING!!!
  3. Wow, of all the 35 seasons I've been coming to Kings Dominion, I've never saw a picture like that before: what does Lake Charles look like after all that water has been drained? You can say how surprised I was to notice how shallow the bottom surface is once all that water has been pumped out. Without the lake, the Anaconda would look like any other roller coaster, but it needs the lake to make this coaster stand out from the other steel looping coasters. Thanks once again for providing a rare look at The Anaconda with its lake drained out, "35 YEARS OF VISITING kINGS dOMINION - AND COUNTING!!!"
  4. I think I know what that guy on Cyclops with his eyes tightly closed is thinking at that moment - "I SHOULDA STAYED ON THE MERRY-GO-ROUND!!!"
  5. ^Hey, if they managed to have the original blueprints to the Texas Cyclone, then I cannot see why they couldn't rebuild that coaster and make it better than before. PLEASE DON'T BURN ME!!!
  6. ^I wish I was, but since I'm done traveling for the summer season the only place I'll be going for amusements is my local bowling alley. ^^I'm glad you've enjoyed your trip to Morey's Piers and I have to agree with their log flume ride: it's one of the best flumes in the USA. You said that Ghost Ship isn't that scary? It's either that you're braver than most or I'm a chicken because when I went through it once, I was happier than a hunchback at a massage parlor when I reached the exit. But a few more things I like about Morey's Piers: They have all sorts of rides and attractions, including some that are small, but big on thrills. I definately like the Flitzer coaster and wish more parks have that type of ride. And don't forget the other seaside attractions that lie in and around Morey's Piers - I had a chance to ride in the back of a Monster Truck as it sped up and down on the beach and there's a paintball shooting gallery. "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  7. ^Or as they would say at CLUB BLOOD: "We can always use some new blood inside this establishment!" And speaking about new blood: any word about The Intimidator 305 being brought back to life? "I think somebody better call Doctor Frankenstein!!!" 35 YEARS OF GOING TO kINGS dOMINION - AND COUNTING!!!
  8. Well, I guess I came in late hearing the good news about Banshee a-coming in screaming into Kings Island. I believe this would convince me to renew my CEDAR FAIR PLATINUM PASS for the 2014 SEASON ( I'm sure my home park of Kings Dominion will come up with something decent for next season, not to mention going to Knotts Berry Farm during next year's vacation to California). Here's a trip idea: since Louisville, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio are about an hour's drive between each other, I could stay at my usual motel in Louisville, visit both Kings Island and the brand new Kentucky Kingdom, and even go to Hoilday World as a bonus. I wonder what new coaster Kentucky Kingdom would put it, but that is a discussion at another topic. I would like to close by saying I will need to stay in shape and save my pennies 'cos 2014 is gonna be some year for this rider and amusement park flyer!!!
  9. "Oh Wow, look at all them crazy coasters!" I did get to ride Maximum RPM at Hard Rock Park and The Lost Coaster at Indiana Beach. The others that were shown I might not get a chance to ride unless they come here to the USA. I remember riding a coaster called "Mad Mouse" that began with two drops and had lots of twists and turns at some park called Frontier Land, located near Cherokee, North Carolina. I thought that coaster was wacky. And come to think of it, I did ride the Wacky Worm at Jolly Rogers Park in Ocean City, Maryland. The wacky part about that ride was I had to wait after the ride went throught its cycle three times before I was able to get on, even though I was in line. There were two little girls that were riding and everytime the ride was over, the ride attendant would asked them if they would like to ride it again. They would say "YES!" After the third time, I finally step in and asked the ride attendant when can I finally ride? The ride attendant was shocked; he thought I was the father of those two little girls and was just standing to keep watch over them, instead of just being an unrelated person who was waiting patiently to ride the Wacky Worm. The girls' mothers were nearby, keeping watch over them. I wasn't afterwards; instead, I was !!!
  10. I have to concur with the "Reuse the Bat name" statement; if my home park of Kings Dominion decided to take out the Ananconda to put in another ground-breaking coaster ( perhaps our very own wing coaster) and call it "The King Kobra's Revenge", then methinks that no one would be confused with the original King Kobra that rarely ran. Besides, I doubt there are any kids that goes to Kings Dominion today ever heard of the King Kobra, and if they did then they heard it from their parents talking about this crazy launch coaster that debuted in 1977, went forwards and backwards through a loop, and was taken out within ten years, or heard from this rider and amusement park flyer that has been visiting Kings Dominion since 1978. I'll be glad when Kings Island makes their announcement tonight, then the only speculation we'll have left is what new coaster Kentucky Kingdom will be putting in. Ain't that great or what? "Make me happy, Kings Island; I might visit you in 2014!!!
  11. You don't often get to see trip reports or even hear about the small parks, so that's why this site was set up to give these parks the exposers they really need. You never know what type of obscured ride may be found in parks like this, or a one-of-its-kind attraction that no one else has. Great Photo Trip report, but the way. We need more photo trip reports on small parks; you may have that rare ride that might encourage a rider and amusement park flyer to go there and ride it! "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  12. ^ . . . or how about an indoor log flume that would also count as a dark ride? ___________________________________________________________________ WHITE LIGHTING - can you survive its strike?
  13. Okay, let's change the subject and talk about the possible future for Fun Spot Action Park. Now after that the park is starting to generate more $$$, now the next question should be - what will they do for an encore? My vote would be for a dark ride, regardless if it's a walkthrough or a ride. _______________________________________________________________ WHITE LIGHTING!!! Can you survive its strike?
  14. Okay, it's time for me to add my two cents into this discussion . . . It seems like Kings Island have been teasing us with two things: what type of coaster it's going to be and what name will they call it. We all think it might be called "Banshee" because Cedar Fair applied for the trademark of that name, thus the name of the upcoming coaster. Now, we've been getting tweets from Kings Island about "wanting to ride the Bat again", making reference to a defunct coaster called "The Bat" that used to run in the park before it got remodeled into "The Vortex". This could be a possible senario: What if "Banshee" isn't the name of the coaster, but the new name of the ( rumored ) dark ride to debut at Cedar Point next year? If that's the case, then what will they name the new coaster? How about "The Bat's Revenge"? Again, this is just speculation from my part, but it does give you all you riders and amusment park flyers out there something more to ponder about.
  15. Oh Boy Oh Boy Oh Boy . . . Just when I thought I could handle the speculation of what type of coaster will be debuting in Kings Island for next season, now we have another coaster speculation war happening at Kentucky Kingdom. Isn't this just great? I'm not perfect; I just love to ride.
  16. robbalvey said: And then he asked: Well, when my friend and I went to Cedar Point and saw how much Fast Pass and Fast Pass Plus cost, we decided that we weren't willing to spend all that money so we could get to the ride station quicker. In short, we didn't have that amount of money on hand. Besides, I had the platinum pass and my friend had a two day ride and slide ticket, thus we [thought] had plenty of time to do everything ( which we didn't because my friend got worn out by the late afternoon of the second day, so we ended up going back to the motel ). I believe that is why most people don't take advantage of the Fast Pass system, because of low money issues. So when we go to a different amusment park next year ( it might be Six Flags Magic Mountain since we are planning to go to California) we'll be sure to get their Fast Lane so we can ride tons of coasters and still have time to watch some shows and visit their gift shops.
  17. ^That is correct; both trains are now resting comfortablely back at the station. I went to the park yesterday ( 07/26/13 ) to ride my favorite rides twice and catch some shows I've missed the last time I was there. Because The Intimidator 305 wasn't running, I decided to not ride Volcano and Dominator as well. But I did ride Avalanche twice because it's celebrating its 25th season, plus the line was short and it's one of my five favorite rides inside the park ( along with Scrambler, Triple Spin, Rebel Yell, and Windseeker). Almost all the rides were walk up and ride them, but Volcano had its usual long line, as did Snoopy's Rocket Express. Woodstock Express had a long line! Overall, I rode nineteen rides and saw two shows within a six hour time period. I don't know when I'll return to Kings Dominion ( it might be whenever Intimidator 305 is running or when they begin their Hallo Weekend), but I know I'll be back. THIRTY-FIVE YEARS OF GOING TO kINGS dOMINION - AND COUNTING!!!
  18. During Memorial Weekend I rode Windseeker FOUR times, including twice in a row at nighttime. I had to make up for the two earlier visits at Kings Dominion when Windseeker was still grounded, plus add intrest.
  19. My friend and I have just came back from Ohio in which we spent two days inside Cedar Point in which we got to ride Gatekeeper twice, my friend finally rode MaXir with me, spent two hours in line to ride MF before the lousy thing broke down, and went to Soak City to ride some tubin' rides and having a beer at a wet bar. Both of those days was CROWD-ED, thus I saw long lines on some older coasters ( such as Iron Dragon and Corkscrew that surprised me. We didn't mind that Skyhawk was down, but I was disappointed to learn that Shoot the Rapids was down as well. With the T-storm that hit the area that Saturday morning, I turned on the news to catch the weather report and would see the story about the accident at Shoot The Rapids that injured a few riders ( not to mention the terrible report about a rider falling off while riding the Texas Giant - my condolences ). It seems like this ride is becoming like Deja Vu to me: that coaster was always closed whenever I visited and it took me ten years before I finally rode it, but I'm in no hurry to ride Shoot The Rapids until maintenance can find out what cause this water ride to fail ( my question would be why didn't the ride's anti-rollback system work?). As for the proposed dark ride, this park could use one. The only question will be will they use the second floor of the ballroom or will they choose another site? Here's a crazy idea: make it an indoor coaster! What? Oh, they did that before - so sorry - forgot about Disaster Transport already. I should delete that line before I press enter. With nothing more to add, I shall close ( I hope I didn't forget anything) "I'm not perfect; I just love to ride!!!"
  20. Quoted from cfc - Okay, I have my Magic 8 Ball, so I shall ask it. "Tell us, oh wise and powerful Magic 8 Ball, what coaster is Kings Island building?" Wait for it - I think I have the answer right here! Here it is: it reads, "Ask again later; I'm vacationing at Disneyland!" The next sound you will hear is thousands of people screaming with disgust as they destroy their Magic 8 Ball. There's your Banshee right there. Then there will be more people screaming like Banshees again because my pillow will be having the last word on this post. "Don't bother me; I'm trying to sleep!!!"
  21. Take any coaster that uses the old and painful horse collars and put in the softer over-the-shoulder collars that Carowind's Carolina Cobra and Hersheypark's Sidewinder uses. For all S&S Screaming Eagles, make the ride cycle longer. And for the Antique Cars at Family Kingdom in Myrtle Beach, make the course longer!
  22. ^Actually, the ride attendant at the test seat was helping me, but couldn't get the seat belt to click together. After wrestling with the restraints for a minute, he told me that I couldn't fit. At the ride itself, the ride attendant had no problems getting the seat belt to click together. ^^I did know that Dominator had the larger seats, but I still was able to fit into the regular seats. The test seat should have indicated if I could fit into a regular seat or just settle for the larger seats.
  23. Last weekend at Cedar Point, I took a gamble on one of the rides and came out on top!!! I'm talking about The Top Thrill Dragster in which I couldn't ride for several years because I couldn't get the seat belt to click together. When I brought a friend which me to Cedar Point and he wanted to ride the Top Thrill Dragster, I tried on the test seat first. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get the seat belt to click together ( if only that seat belt was an inch or two longer), so we both skipped that ride. I should also add that my friend can easily fit into the restraints since he is a skinny-wink. Later tonight, I decided that even though I couldn't ride Top Thrill Dragster, at least I shouldn't deny my friend to ride that ride, so I stayed with him in the queing line to keep him company. While in line, I was seeing other riders just as big as I was getting on that ride, so I decided to take that gamble and at least try to get on ( besides, if I couldn't fit in, I'll just act like I suddenly got to ill to ride in order to disguise my walk of shame ). I get into my seat, I put on my seat belt, the ride attendant assisted me, and CLICK!!! My friends, riders and amusement park flyers everywhere, I was able to ride the Top Thrill Dragster!!! Even thought I was to be able to ride Top Thrill Dragster, I was also because the test seat for Top Thrill Dragster lied to me. Everytime I went to ride Top Thrill Dragster and tried on the test seat, I ended up skipping this ride believing that I couldn't fit into the restraints. Even though I lost a few pounds between trips, the test seat still indicated that I wouldn't fit. IN OTHER WORDS - THE TEST SEAT IS A LIAR!!! What is going on with that? The test seat is suppose to represent the actual ride itself so riders can see whether or not they can safety ride that ride, but when a test seat isn't exact it can lead to heartbreak when a rider must take the walk of shame because they cannot fit into the restraints or be turned away needlessly because they believed what the test seat indicated. Could this be a scandal that the amusement park is doing to help lighten up the queing lines? I think it is and just as bad as selling fast passes so the parks can milk money from riders and amusement park flyers. But I'm sure that the test seat for Top Thrill Dragster isn't the only one that is sorely inaccruate. Dominator at Kings Dominion also has a lying test seat. I got on that test seat and clicked on the seat belt with comfort, but when I got on the ride, the restraints felt tight, and not the inch or two of comfort I felt on the test seat. I end this post with two questions: are they any more lying test seats out there and what should we do about it?
  24. During my last post in February, I was feeling a bit sketical about whether or not this new park planned for Houston will ever be built or not. Now, lo and behold, it looks like they have received the GREEN LIGHT to begin construction and hoping for a 2015 opening date. Now while everyone else is speculating whether or not this park will actually open, my concern is what rides will the park have? While I'm thinking that some will be brand, spanking new; others I feel might be used rides that once ran in another park or on the state fair circuit as a cost-cutting method and to better fill up the park. Mewonders what they would do, but this is only speculation at this point. We'll wait and see. "BY THE WAY, DON'T BURN ME!!!"
  25. Two Years ago, I was Morey's Piers and I entered The Mummy's Curse Walkthrough with a bunch a screaming-when-scared girls. Because this was my second time, I knew what to expect, but I'm pretty sure these girls didn't. When the mummy came after them, all the girls screamed and rushed out of the attraction. One of them was so scared she lefted her flip-flops inside and was running in bare feet. Nobody else knew what happened until the mummy came out holding the pair of flip flops the girl lefted behind. "It could have been worse, what if the mummy scared the pants of this girl, I mean, she was wearing short shorts? Take about a wardrobe malfunction!"
