  1. Oh well, as much as I like to see the running lights return on the Rebel Yell, I still didn't see any announcement concerning the brand new paint job to the Rebel Yell in order to bring it back to its original color scheme. I guess the new paint job for the Anaconda will have to do for now. Folks, we are less than a month away from the season opener and two months away from the 40th Celebration Party. My CEDAR FAIR PLATINUM PASS is itching to be used. I'm ready, but are you? kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!!
  2. Okay, I shall add another ride that offer a surprised soaking, a log flume called "American Plunge", located at Silver Dollar City. At first thought, this would have been another log flume ride in which the log rides in and out of tunnels before going up the only hill in the ride. When you go down, say "Good-bye to dry"!" I still don't know why I rode it several times, including one at nighttime. I really wasn't that hot, but methinks I was trying to see if it was possible to ride the American Plunge without getting wet. I wasn't successful in any attempt.
  3. I'm thinking "King Kobra's Revenge" That may not be far-fetched; methinks that new park in Houston is planning to bring back an newer, improver Greezed Lightin', so if a roller coaster company did that to Houston, then why not also do it for Kings Dominion? Still, I wouldn't mind if the Galaxi came back. kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!!
  4. That's great to hear. I do have one suggestion: How about an attraction in which you get to ride in a stagecoach? I know that Knott's Berry Farm does it and they are the only park I know that has an attraction like that.
  5. ^^How about some lyrics to go with that screen shot? ( To the tune of "Wrecking Ball") "I STOOD IN LINE, FOR A TIME TO RIDE THE MEAN STREAK COASTER; I GOT ON BOARD AND BECAME SORE LIKE AN OLD, BEAT UP TOASTER. I'M STANDING OUTSIDE, HOLDING MY SORE BEHIND BECAUSE THAT RIDE WAS ROUGH; I WON'T TELL A LIE, 'COS I WILL NOT CRY BECAUSE I SHALL BE TOUGH . . . I'LL COME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL, AND SEE THAT WICKED COASTER FALL I'LL WRECK IT LIKE A WRECKING BALL, LIKE IT WRECKED ME!!!" That's all I could come up with on the fly.
  6. Oh Boy, I was blown away with the retracking of Thunder Run, then came the announcement of Lighting Run, then the website was up and running and showed a ton of water slides, then Zeppelin was shown in its new location. Now, we got Frog Hopper, and those things are FUN!!! With so many good things that are happening at the park, I could nearly forget one important coaster. ROLLER SKATER - TAKE A RIDE AROUND OUR RINK!!!
  7. Oh Boy, the Zeppelins are still there. Whew, that's a relief! What? You didn't think I was going to Kentucky Kingdom just to ride the Roller Skater, did you? Noooo . . . I'm going there to ride everything that's up and running, and then I'm going to do it again and again. By the end of my visit, I want to be waterlogged, tired, and so sick of the Roller Skater I will need lots of time to recover. Then I'll be ready to look forward to the brand new T2 and Twister Twins. ROLLER SKATER - TAKE A RIDE AROUND OUR RINK!!!
  8. Wow, this brings back memories; King Kobra was the first coaster I have ever ridden in which I went upside down ( And yes I will admit it: I had my eyes closed during the inversions, but I was only eleven back then. And the year was 1979. "But you said that you first went to the park in 1978, and the King Kobra was there, so why didn't you ride it?" Because the King Kobra was not operating on that first day I visited Kings Dominion. I was crushed by not being able to ride it that season. I also remember when coming home from Kings Dominion and we were sleeping. One of my sisters woke up and said she had a nightmare about the King Kobra. The following year, I rode that ride twice in a row to make up for last year. kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!!
  9. This is an interesting photo shoot of a theme park during the winter months ( I was going to say "off season", but to these guys that work at the park full time, there is no such thing as an off season), and it is amazing to see rides that are stripped down for the winter. The average rider and amusement park flyer would think that all the rides just stay in their places, never realizing that the coaster cars are removed from the tracks, the flat rides are stripped down to their bare essentials, and some buildings are converted as either maintenance shops or storage sheds. This would create an interesting show for the Travel Channel: a series that goes behind the scenes of a theme park during the winter months. Episode one will deal with the final day of operations and the beginning of the shutdown, the other episodes will deal with stripping rides down and later rebuilding them, you got to have one on building a new ride and/or dismantling an old ride, and the final episode will be getting the park ready to open for opening day. Plus, we'll see the park hire new park attendants, new ride attendants, new talent for their shows, and everything else you never thought you'll see when the park is closed for the season. What do you all think - will this be a show you'll like to watch? I know I would want to see it.
  10. ^ I sure hope not; I've had many seasons of that up in Cedar Point during their Paddlewheel attraction (which is no longer there) of a feud between two hillbilly families shooting each other because of their moonshine - one family said the moonshine taste great while the other family said the moonshine is less filling! Okay, I'll go out and shoot myself. Don't worry - it'll be humane.
  11. First, congratulations to this thread for surpassing one thousand pages!!! Second, I miss Yogi's cave and all the animatronics that went with it. When I arrived at the park in 1998 and went into Yogi's Cave, I was dismayed to see that they changed it into Treasure Cave and all the animatronics were gone. It was just a boring walk through. Although the last few seasons saw them re-themed Treasure Cave to pirates, it soon worn out its effectiveness. There was never another attraction like Yogi's Cave and, sadly, will never be another one like it again. Third, I cannot wait until 4-5-14 to see the exciting changes to Kings Dominion in order to bring that park back to its former glory. kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!!
  12. While everyone was complaining about the tracks, nobody even had a chance to answer my little quiz when I was singing about how T2 doesn't look like it's isolated anymore "Take this space between use and fill it up someway . . ." That line is a from the song "Oh My God" from the Police. And since nobody answered it, I guess I'll keep the prize for myself - a free ride on the Roller Skater!!! ROLLER SKATER - TAKE A RIDE AROUND OUR RINK!!!
  13. ^Arrgh!!!! You're right. I forgot about those other Goliaths. There are some many coasters sharing the same name, it can become so confusing. This is worse than riders confusing the rocking boat ride with one that goes upside down. They would see a rocking ship and be afraid to ride it because they think it will go upside down. As for me, I'll ride anything, but I can tell whether or not this ride is the type that will rock back and forth, or will go upside down. First, look at the restraints : rocking boats will only have lap bars, but upside down ships will have both lap and shoulder restraints. Then looks to see if the boat has a counterweight above it; upside down boats will have one, but rocking ships will not. And if you still cannot decide, then just stand back and watch the ride in action. Easy as Pie. As for me, I can tell my rocking ship from my upside down ship much better than trying to remember all the Goliaths that Six Flags have. In other words, I should have checked the roller coaster data base.
  14. From an earlier post, someone posted about park chains using the same name for different coasters, and this will be the third coaster to be called Goliath. There is a giant-sized coaster in Six Flags over Georgia and the old Deja Vu from Six Flags Magic Mountain moved to Six Flags New England that are also named "Goliath". It's a pity that they didn't go with "The Great American Scream Machine".
  15. "Saddle up boys; we got ourselves a hanging!
  16. After looking at the new pictures of the new waterslides, it appears that these new slides are placed much closer to the T2 coaster. Last time when I was at the park, the biggest thing I notice about the T2 was that it looked like that coaster was isolated from the other rides, like it was "shunned". Now that the new slides are being build, T2 doesn't look lonely anymore. "Take this space between us/fill it up some way" ( Quick, what song has that line?) THE ROLLER SKATER - TAKE A RIDE AROUND OUR RINK!!!
  17. After seeing the new paint job on the Anaconda, I thought to myself: That's strange; why on Earth would they want to paint the Anaconda the same color scheme with it's closest neighbor the Intimidator 305? Then I thought up the answer - "They want to attract more people in riding the Anaconda because it'd make them think they were riding the Intimidator 305!!!" As for the Rebel Yell and the possible plans to repaint that coaster RED, WHITE. and BLUE, plus give it an exciting lighting package - I'M ALL FOR IT! BRING IT ON AND DON'T SPARE THE HORSES!!! As for the new designs for the Volcano station, I think I can see it how it could speed up its riders per hours, but I would like to see it in action before making up my mind. One more item to mention - last week at JMU ( James Madison University, located in Harrisonburg, Virginia) I saw a poster on the board of their theater and dance department that announced auditions for singers, musicians, dancers, and all other talents for all their shows at Kings Dominion. The auditions were held last week and it'll be interesting to know which talent is from which college, including the return of the Clown Band. April 5, 2014 cannot come soon enough for me. kINGS dOMINION - BETCHA YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL!!!
  18. From Josh Linn I thought that was Black Diamond's job. Okay, I'll make like a Thanksgiving turkey and get stuffed!
  19. ^"Oh Boy, I don't know if I can handle all this excitement. It just might drive me Loony Tunes!" I'll be coming up there late this summer, so Goliath don't let me down!
  20. Okay, okay, I think I know what it's going to be, it's a . . . "SHUT UP; NO MORE OF YOUR STUPID JOKES!" Shucks, you guys aren't no fun anymore. "There, there, just come to me and sleep on it. You'll feel much better."
  21. I cannot remember which post it was from, but it featured a youtube video of a female rider on a roller coaster whose boobs popped loose from her top during her ride. Well, the ride attendant always warn us to "Please secure loose articles."
  22. Okay, while Wes may have asked "What's that white stuff?", I'm pretty sure that by the time I get to Six Flags Great America in the summertime I'll see no more of the white stuff and a lot more of the Goliath stuff! Remember, this will be my first ever RMC ride, so I'm trying not to wet my pants due to all of the excitement . . . Oops, excuse me.
  23. No, no, no, you got it all wrong, it isn't going to be a coaster. No, instead they will be bringing in a machine that has a knife that can cut four loaves of bread at one time. Do you know what it is called? A FOUR-LOAF CLEAVER!!! ( after a long pause with no sound except a cricket) Methinks I'll go and water the ducks.
  24. Well, it appears that the kids will have some long-lost classics to look forwards too ( I mean, a boat ride on a track and a pony ride? I wonder what they would look like.). As for the big 2015 attraction, methinks they will bring in a creature that big, red, and eats rocks. So what do you call a monster that's big, red, and eats rocks? A BIG RED ROCK-EATER!!! What else? Methinks I should depart before I get lynched.
  25. Okay, I'll change the subject. I'm looking forward to returning to Holiday World this year (along with Kentucky Kingdom and Kings Island) and besides riding their newest ride Mayflower, I'm also looking to ride the other rides they have and all their coasters - both wooden and water. But here's a thought I had: Do you think that Holiday World could benefit by installing another dark ride, but with a haunted theme, in their Halloween section of the park? I'll say make it a tradition haunted house attraction with scary monsters jumping out at you from every turn. I'm sure they could find an area to install that attraction. What do all you riders and amusement park flyers think?
